My wife and I had booked this hotel for 4 nights but we were so uncomfortable that we checked out after the second night. Since my wife is pregnant, we had looked specifically for a 4 or 5 star hotel so that we would have all required facilities and a comfortable stay. However, we were sorely disappointed by Hotel Schild. While booking the room, the hotel had charged a premium price (300 eur for the first night). But what we got was very far from worth that exorbitant amount of money - the photos look much better than reality and the hotel management has misrepresented the rooms. Here are some issues we faced: - The place feels very unsafe. It has poor lighting in hall which leads to a very unsafe feeling while walking there. - slamming of room and passage doors during the night and continuous noise leading to disturbed sleep - no restaurant - shabby and cheap checkin - room is very dated and feels like an interior from the past - dark and dingy room - stains on walls and floor - tough and expensive commute to city and airport and very isolated and unsafe feel All in all, we felt cheated and misled. When complaining to the staff, they behaved rudely and were uncooperative and made us even less at ease at the hotel. Given my wife's pregnancy, we could not stay longer in the room and decided to check out after the second night. We booked a genuine 4 star hotel in Vienna city for less than Hotel Schild's rate. You will be well advised to do the same and book in Vienna city itself rather than at Hotel Schild. Stay at Hotel Schild at your own risk.…
If you want to stay in a mediocre hotel of Eastern Europe for a few nights, you should stay here. The front door, which does not open well. Magnetic key that demagnetized twice during the first day of stay. The doors to the bathroom that do not close. The dirty bathroom air conditioner filter has a lot of dust and dirt. The air conditioning system is faulty, its buzz did not allow to sleep properly. Parking spaces for 15 euros per day are so narrow that if you have a place near the wall, you can get out only through the trunk of your car. P.S.>> I want to mention a delicious breakfast. The staff helped to dry things. Thank you...
Unless you need to stay 1 or 2 nights in this very nice area of Vieneese heurigers - avoid! Suspicious staff with ironic smirk on their faces has nothing pleasant even if they try to be helpful. First I was given a tiny room which did not correspond to my reservation on Booking.com - with endless issues on how many towels or covers or pillows should have a double room rented by one person when on day 3 they changed my room to a bigger one... Then... the towels were not changed every day, (surely not for the last 3 days...). For 10 day stay I got one little soap of 2 cm of diameter, no advertised "toiletteries". The beautiful garden was completely run down with broken chairs and broken tables. Not mentioning guests? of the hotel at 8 am (!) in the morning drinking up to 4 half litter bottles of beer... Breakfeast was OK, but croissants and bread reheated in microwaves, and I did not really like the coffee there... No advertised computer corner for guests - although apparently Wi-Fi was working. Please, do not get trapped by their advertisement they are a 4 star hotel! There is another hotel down the street that I recommend: Pension Garni - Landhaus Fuhrgassl-HUBER which meets 4 star expectations, with VERY helpful and kind staff. I am sure you will actually enjoy your stay there!…
Decided to spend the weekend in Vienna at the last moment and stayed in district 19 near the vineyards. Our first time here but won’t be the last. The area is truly amazing and very old Austrian in appearance and flavors. The Hotel Schild is very comfortable and clean. The staff are great and they have a very nice breakfast as well. If you can get room 51 you should try. It’s a fantastic view of the hillside full of vineyards. Check out the view from the room!
if you want to be close to a couple of nice Heurigers is a good location. The rooms are not so clean, the chairs in the room they need to be replaced or clean deeply. The bathroom is spacious but not too many toiletries and you only get one set of towels. The room was spacious for European standards, so was the closet, the bed mattress was OK, nothing to write home about. If you have to stay in the area and want to save some money is an OK place.
We found this hotel on trip advisore. After our coming there start the problem. Some blond staff be hysteric , cause we wait for check-in with our car in front of garage. Than they said our keys not work and you ask for open the room at the reception. Staff was very unfriendly
A nice Local hotel. Good Bathroom. Free of charge internet. Clean. Air co. Comfortable double bed. Very kind and helpful staff. Breakfast Good but not a huge selection. 15 euro per person. Also parking piad 15 euro. Not too many place to park outside. Overall nice stay.
The rooms were decorated nice, the room and hotel was very clean. Bathrooms were comfortable with a nice hot shower and good water pressure. We got a deal on the breakfast, which was good (warm food also served) - not sure if I would pay full price for it, but with the discount it was worth it. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location is great with some excellent restaurants within walking distance. As reviewers have commented on the street noise. You do hear the traffic on the street, which is rather busy at times. The bed is rather firm, which my husband was fine with, but I found it rather hard, but could still sleep. The pillows were flat, that was our biggest complaint. If we stay there again we would definitely ask for more pillows.
I "stumbled" over this hotel because of the very attractive price. What a positive surprise! Unfortunately, the location is somewhat remote from the city center, however the restaurants and the "Heurigen" just round the corner compensate for it. The personnel is exceptional friendly and the rooms are some of the best I ever had. The connection to the city center with public transport by bus and metro is quite o.k., but it takes about 3/4 hours. The hotel is recomendable, particularly if you are fancy to visit a "Heurigen" without necessity of taxi or public transport. Definitely, I will come back during my summer holidays.
Hotel Schild is located in the quiet residential district of Dobling that has lots of great restaurants and Heuringens. The rooms were spacious and relatively clean, although I did find some rubbish underneath the bed. I thought that the bathroom was well sized except that there was a semi used toilet roll, which I wasn't accustomed too seeing. Perhaps environmentally, it is better to waste not! We had a room located on the front of the hotel, which given that it is located on the main street, can get quite busy and noisy in the mornings. I would advise to book a back facing room. The hotel has a garden although we didn't use it and there is a kids playground too. We didn't have breakfast either so can't comment upon that. Wifi was promised but we had trouble getting on to the network? Staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Location, you are about a 10-15 minute bus trip into the City and the Viennese woods are close by. Overall, the hotel has a dated feel about it, but for the price paid, I can't complain.…
