Altstadt Vienna is a very friendly boutique hotel. Do not be misled by the first impression on entering the building foyer where you have a sign informing you to take the lift to the reception which is on the first floor the second sign is the more important sign telling you that you are in one of the small luxury...

Just back from two days at the Altstadt and wish it could have been longer. Absolutely lovely hotel, smart, stylish, comfortable and welcoming. Gorgeous room, fabulous breakfast, delightful staff, convenient location two spits away from the Museum Quartier and a lovely twenty minute walk to the Hofburg and the centre of town. Not cheap, but fantastically could value for what...

Lovely hotel off the beaten path with outstanding customer service. Breakfast area looks like an art museum with great food as well. They were extremely helpful with anything I asked. Room was large and well appointed. Would have loved to stayed longer.

one of my favourite hotels on my long RTW trip. got upgraded to the felix suite, which was sensational. only trouble was finding the light switches in the dark, dark room with dark dark walls and floors. seriously sexy interior decoration and cool bath elevated on a platform - great fun. thankfully the room was cool, the weather was crazy...

We were 1 of 3 couples staying here so we had the opportunity to see 3 different rooms all located on level 1. Clean but not much of a view if that is what you are after. Huge shower stall and bathroom. The location was a 10 minute walk to most major attractions. The breakfast and afternoon tea was included...

We had a lovely stay at this hotel in Vienna. The location was great, a little outside the main tourist sites but very much within walking distance and with some great little restaurants nearby. Our room was a little off the wall - dark, romantic and quirky. The staff at reception were really helpful and suggested some really lovely places...

My wife and I spent a lovely weekend in Vienna, staying at the Hotel Altstadt. Though we arrived around midnight, there was no problem, as the friendly and efficient reception functions at all hours. We had a quiet, comfortable, high-ceilinged room with interesting decoration and artwork, and a view of an old church and elegant buildings across the road. The...

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
