This converted old apartment building in a vibrant district of Vienna offers a very singular experience. Quirky, arty, trendy and comfortable in turns, we were disappointed in only one way - we had only night here. Our room overlooked an internal courtyard and we had an incredibly peaceful nights sleep. This was aided by the nice comfy bed. The rooms...

This hotel is so different from a chain hotel where all the rooms are the same. Each room apparently is different, but as we only saw our room I can't comment on any of the others! However, own room was beautiful, calm, spacious and well designed. Every single member of staff we came across greeted us with a large smile...

Hotel Altstadt instantly makes you feel like you live in Vienna in your own flat. The suite is very large as are the windows and ceilings. Imagine an older flat with tall doors, windows and ceilings that has been tastefully modernized. One of our highlights was the morning breakfast in the reception floor parlor. Several rooms above the street with...

We had the White Suite (room 61). Wonderful, with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of lovely purple flowers to welcome us. The room is at the street side, not really pleasant, but not a showstopper. It's spacious, nicely decorated. Breakfast is super! Enough variety in rolls, different types of bread, fruit, cereals, vegetables, drinks (including champagne!), vegan or...

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is about 15 to 20 minutes walk from the Museumsquartier and the Hofburg Palace. As soon as you enter the hotel yo realise that this is not your usual 4*. The first test is to find reception up 1 floor using a very slow lift. All of the reception staff that we met were...

Perfect location for Vienna sightseeing, spacious rooms with clean bathrooms, wonderful breakfasts with variable choices, friendly staff and free bikes for rent make it the best boutique hotel to stay in Vienna.

The hotel is overall really quite lovely. Nicely decorated with interesting modern art and nice touches, very friendly staff and good breakfast etc, however the single room I stayed in was ridiculously small, not even space for a bedside table. Nicely decorated and clean but just far too small for the price paid. Happy I stayed for just a weekend,...

This boutique hotel has stylish, comfortable rooms; knowledgeable reception desk staff; and efficient restaurant staff. The breakfasts are outstanding and served in well lit rooms. There is a small bar for nighttime drinks. Highly recommended.

Hotel Alstadt is clean, charming and funky. The staff was very helpful and capable. The little map of the surroundings highlighting cafes and restaurants is genius. We visited two of the restaurants they recommended during our short stay and they were both fantastic.

It must be 10 years that I come to the Altstadt when staying in Vienna. While the place has been growing, they managed to keep it as friendly and exceptional as it always was. Where others often fail, they do it right - which is almost a mystery to me. The attention to detail is amazing. There is no better...

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
