We have just returned from a fantastic 5 night city break. The Hotel Kugel was recommended to us by a friend. It was the perfect base for our trip to Vienna. Conveniently located for central Vienna with tram stop outside the front door when returning to hotel and 50 yards down the street when taking tram into city. Rooms are ensuite and ours looked like it was brand new. We had a mini bar, safe, television, radio, telephone, tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a hairdryer. The shower was good being both powerful and hot. The breakfast is buffet style. If you want hot food it is cooked to order ie bacon sausage, eggs. The products at breakfast are locally produced and are very good. Try the local breads and buns. Also try the various local apple juices. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. Front of house staff speak excellent English. The hotel has a lift. If you are looking for a reasonably priced base in central Vienna I would certainly recommend The Kugel. Something to be aware of in Vienna is that the graffiti artists have plastered the city with graffiti. Even historic buildings and some monuments have been targeted. Every area seems to have its graffiti. The area around the Kugel is no exception. Tip. Travel cards are available. We bought a 72 hour Vienna City Ticket. It gives unlimited travel on trams, underground, buses in Vienna City area. You can buy it online and download it onto an app. It also gives discounted entry to a multitude of attractions. There is also a Vienna Pass which includes free entry to attractions. Its expensive and you would have to see an awful lot of attractions to make it financially sensible. Don't confuse the City ticket with City pass. Tip. there is a vegetarian restaurant opposite the hotel. Tip. When you enter a tram or underground with Vienna city ticket or pass you do not need to scan your pass. You simply get on the tram or underground enjoy the journey then get off. Its all done on trust I was told. On the days I travelled I was never asked for my pass. If you take the train out of the city you will need a ticket and you will need to show it.…
If you're looking for a shiny modern glass and concrete hotel, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a great hotel full of character with friendly attentive staff in an excellent location, I'd highly recommend it. We stayed for three nights in a Superior Room, which was comfortable, spacious and overlooked the street. The staff were all super attentive, made sure we had everything we needed and the breakfast was fantastic. The location in the Neubau District couldn't be better and a lot of the sights are within walking distance, Spittleberg with its trendy bars and restaurants is about 5 mins walk, the Museum Quarter about 10 mins, the Naschmarkt about 15 mins and the State Opera about 20 mins. If you're not up for walking the tram is right outside and the metro is about 5 mins away. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.…
Great place in a good well connected location close to the heart of the city. Superb staff, very attentive to our needs and helpful with local knowledge. Room and facilities absolutely as described, I heartily recommend the Kugel to anyone visiting Vienna.
Hotel Kugel in the Neubaugasse area is the perfect hotel to stay at in Vienna. Close to the centre with its museums and palaces, it is located in a neighbourhood that will appeal to everyone looking for a "local" experience: beautiful art shops, great restaurants and trendy cafés, full of young and friendly people. The staff at Hotel Kugel is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about Viennese history, sites & attractions. The room was an absolute picture and very comfortable & quiet. I will certainly return!
We had a very nice stay at Hotel Kugel. The staff is very friendly and attentive, always happy to help and accommodate to the guest. I can totally see why many people return. The room was superb, absolutely clean and we really loved it, also the big modern bathroom. The canopy bed was great, even for a tall person with back problems very comfy. The location is perfect, only if you wake easily, the nearby tram might be disturbing. We enjoyed exploring the surroundings, with a multitude of small shops, cafes, restaurants and the museums close by. Vienna isn't cheap and we are usually traveling on a very small budget. Maybe this was the highest price we payed for a hotel or a breakfast. But our stay at Hotel Kugel was definitely worth every cent and we look forward to return. Make sure you book directly with the hotel and not one of the platforms. Thank you for the very nice weekend!…
Our stay was wonderful! The room was so pretty and looked just like the picture, it was clean and comfy and so cute. The hotel is in a really good spot and close to a bunch of stuff, and the staff was super nice and helpful and helped us with everything we needed:)
If you are looking for a charming and quiet place, this is your hotel! Located in the Neubagasse area, 8 minutes walk from Museamquartier, with several shops, cafes, restaurants and supermarket around and tram/bus at the door! Breakfast is a dream come true and cannot be left out of your plans. The room was huge and very comfortable. The staff is very attentive! We will definitely be back when we get back to Vienna.
Not only is this a beautiful, charming hotel, but it's complemented by the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. They take the time to inform you about all the sights of Vienna and how to get there, the morning conversation about our planned day became a regular discussion. The rooms are very nice and the building is close to the city centre and to the Schönbrunn castle; you can reach everything either by public transport or on foot. Additionally, there is an excellent hygiene concept during COVID, the breakfast buffet was even replaced by personal catering to the table. The breakfast is a dream! We will definitely go there again on our next trip to Vienna!
Friendly staff; clean, comfortable rooms, very nice bathroom. Excellent location in the cultural center of Vienna. Breakfast fine, extras (in our case vegetarian) no problem. A couple of minutes walk to Museumsquartier, Naschmarkt, Natur-and Kunsthistorisches Museum, Volkstheater and many other attractions. Recommendation
Lovely cosy Hotel in the 7th district of Vienna. Kindly and friendly welcome. Clean and confortable rooms. Spacious and lightly. The 7th district is a good place to stay. You have a good Gastronomie like bars and restaurants organic coffee shops. You can discover nice tiny Austrian clothes designer boutiques, little shops with jewelry or interiors decoration ideas. Public transport is 5 minutes away from the hotel. And the tram "Straßenbahn 49" take you to the city. I will recommend you to walk and take a look at the buildings, doors and entrances.
