Found this lovely pension on Trip Advisor and was very pleased with our stay here. We chose the apartment room which is across the street (easy to cross) from the main property to accommodate 3 of us and have a small kitchen. Kitchen equipped nicely with small refrigerator, range, nice set of dishes, glassware. Even had dish towel, dish soap...

Our flight from Bangkok arrived in Vienna at 6am. So what can you do when you arrive with two large cases at the hotel at 7.30am? At this hotel they are happy to store your luggage as the room won't be ready till after noon. Then they offered us a breakfast totally on the house, though we only had a...

I know Vienna is expensive but I didn't feel this was good value for money. The room was stuffy and the curtain inadequate to keep out the light, the only way to get any air was to open the window and the street was noisy, which all made for poor sleep quality. Having said that, the staff were friendly and...

I stayed at the Pension Wild for a total of 6 nights in a deluxe room with bathroom during a visit to Vienna in August 2015. Vienna is not a cheap city but this budget Pension-Hotel located at the edge of old town was an excellent choice. Its location, while not in the old town, is within 10 minute or...

This guesthouse was decent for the money paid. Vienna is quite expensive for accommodation, and we were on a budget. However, in certain other cities (e.g. Prague or Budapest), what you can get for this amount of money is of much higher quality. The double bed was essentially 2 single mattresses pushed together. There was a shower in the room,...

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. I was not dissapointed! - Personnel is very friendly. They gave us a warm welcome and very happy to answer our questions - Rooms are clean, but we stayed in a very small room. We also had to share bathrooms and toilet with our floor, however it was well maintained. The walls are...

I was in Vienna for a week for a conference at the University of Vienna, which was an easy 1 km walk straight north up LangeGasse every morning. The Parliament, the Volksgarten, the Natural History Museum, and the historic city center are also short walks to the west. I had a spacious corner room on the fourth floor with a...

When we arrived at Pension Wild we were shown to our room with a shared bathroom. We noticed our booking mistake and kindly asked to upgrade rooms and the staff were very helpful in aiding our request. We were given a premium room with a private bathroom which made our 3 nights in Vienna much more enjoyable! The hotel isn't...

We stayed here 1 night and all was fine. The accomodation is well located and in walking distance to subwaystation "Volkstheater" (5min). Our room (double shared bathroom) was adequate and clean (no TV). Breakky is fine and enough :) and the owner is friendly and helpful. So in total the Hotel is all right for a short stay.

Liked: The room, even though it was on the top floor (5th) there is an elevator and you need to walk up half a floor (lift delivers to levels between floors above Ground floor), it was comfortable clean and roomy enough. There was no air conditioning but they had a fan and that helped a lot during that hot spell...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
