We had one of the nice refurbished rooms on level 1 which was large with a lovely shower. The bedroom and bathroom were open plan (The toilet was separate.) The room was clean and comfortable with some fun quirky features which we loved and had a hairdryer and minibar. For the money we paid we found the room to be...

Clean but basic place. Not all rooms are renewed. I believe the new rooms are more comfortable, at least on the photos those ones look nicer. They advised us to book directly next time instead of booking webpages to get better room and rate. The buffet breakfast was super good. Rich and fresh. The place looks to be gay friendly...

The bedroom is comfortable. Toilets separate from bathroom ,clean well maintained. The good flow of hot water was a plus. Even though our room attendant did not speak English. she was keen to give a good service.

I had a lovely experience at the hotel - the staff was extremely helpful, and the breakfast buffets were spectacular. The location was very convenient to travel to; there are multiple tram stops and train stations within walking distance. My room was clean and well maintained, the internet speedy, and I honestly have no complaints. :) (I'd like to mention...

We stayed at Donauwalzer for six nights and must say that we were very happy throughout the entire stay at this charming hotel. Donauwalzer is truly a hidden gem that deserves more than those three stars the hotel currently holds. The staff were very friendly and the managing director seemed to be very interested in keeping the guests happy and...

Stayed at the Boutique Hotel Donauwalzer for three nights in March 2017 as part of a British Airways Holiday. We were unable to check in initially because BA failed to contact the hotel of our reservation. This was no fault of the hotel, and the staff their went above and beyond to make sure we had a room for our...

Very narrow room (single room) as well as the bed (only 70-80cm wide) with a lamp on a wall falling down during the slip when you do any moves. No pictures of those room. If I sow it before would not take it. At the morning very noisy, because of cleaning crew not caring about silence and guests. Everything costs...

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our family run establishment is only 5 minutes away from the Ringstrasse and lies directly on the metro line U6. The hotel is famous first of all for its excellent service and very rich hot and cold breakfast. The General Hospital and numerous private hospitals, the Viennese Brunnen and Yppen street markets, the Freud museum, Volksoper, Votivchurch, City hall or Palace Gschwandner are also in the walking distance. Because of a good location near the metro line U6 all the places of interest - from Grinzing to Schonbrunn - are easy to reach. The rooms are equipped with minibar, hair dryer, writing case, alarm clock, WiFi, sat-TV, radio, soundproof windows, phone... Classical live music on Sunday breakfast, leafy courtyard, 24 hours open bar with Viennese wines, private SPA or a Nespresso machine in your room are only few of the many extra services we offer, which explain our slogan "3 stars hotel with 4 stars service and 5 stars charm". Our hotel was built in 1901 as a wedding gift and offers for more than 111 years lived hospitality and Viennese tradition, also marked in the successful architectural symbiosis of Art Nouveau with modern elements. ... more   less
