I was very pleased with my stay at the Graben Hotel. The location is perfect -- on a quiet side street but steps from the center of old town and a short walk to many attractions as well as metro. Room was clean, if small and spartan. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was adequate. I would stay there...

We arrived at 2pm, check in time, to find the hotel had "overbooked" and we were sent to a hotel elsewhere. Having booked, had confirmation and paid 3 months in advance, I felt this was extremely poor. I chose this hotel because I would not be required to catch public transport for the Riding School, the entire reason we were...

Hotel is expensive but all other hotels in this perfect location were the same price. Breakfast was ok, small selection of cheeses, ham, turkey, canned fruits and some fresh fruit that you have to cut yourself, 2 types of yogurt, some mushy breads. The scrambled eggs are always cold. Orange, tomato and grapefruit juices. Some veggies. Regular coffee and variety...

Very central location - adjoining Graben Mall/Street and a few minutes walk from Stephensplatz, this Hotel has everything you would expect for the price. Not the best views but clean, decent sized rooms, with large comfortable beds, clean bathroom, bar fridge and TV. We stayed on the 6th floor during our honeymoon, all good except for the drilling and maintenanince...

Stephansdom is just on the right when you turn the corner. Literally. The location is excellent for both shopping and sightseeing. There are lots of restaurant options around and you can basically walk to major areas in Vienna. The rooms were small but nice, very clean though. Only the elevator was frustrating, I once waited for at least 10 minutes...

My friend and I really liked this hotel and will definitely stay there again when we next visit Vienna. It is right in the centre a stones throw from St Stephen's and many of the museums, shops, markets etc so you can walk everywhere. If you want to venture further there is an underground at the end of the road....

I stayed in the Graben Hotel during July: the location was excellent, convenient to Vienna centre and the metro. The staff were very friendly and helpful and mostly spoke reasonable English, probably better than my German anyway! I found the whole experience very pleasant (yes, it is a bit odd to have the shower and toilet quite so separate) and...

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
