We loved this hotel. I am glad it was in a more "local" part of town. The bed was very comfortable and the bath/shower was the best of the 4 hotels on our European trip. We also had a balcony which was a bonus. The...More
The Prinz Eugen is an acceptable, well-positioned no-frills accommodation for those looking to maximise their cash. I would completely dispute it's 4-star rating (maybe it was in 1986 but not anymore).

The fourth district combines elegant tradition with contemporary style and relaxed living. More than a dozen town palaces and churches such as St. Charles Borromeo have added glamour to a neighbourhood known for its traditional retail and crafts shops, taverns, cafés. Wieden is also home to Naschmarkt, Vienna’s largest street market. Many bohemian types have found their way to Wieden: meet them in trendy cafés and
bars, shop alongside them for vintage items, enjoy Wien Museum’s and Kunsthalle’s modern temporary exhibitions, and hang out with the bees at Vienna’s most beautiful urban garden, Karlsgarten.

Hi Lynney. I stayed here in January, and, whilst obviously too late for the christmas markets themselves, the hotel is ideally located with good transport links to get you into the centre where those markets are most likely to be. Tram line D is close by and will wisk you into the centre in under 10 mins and a 5 min walk in the other direction will take you to the underground system. If youre feeling energetic you can walk to the historic centre from the Prinz Eugen in about 25 mins.
As far as the taxi is concerned, i have no idea of the cost but this hotel is within a stones through from the central station ( Wien Hauprbahnhof) and fast railjet trains with plenty of luggage room on board leave the airport every 30 mins. The price is fairly cheap. Dont get on a local S bahn train as it wont take you to the central stn!!
If you need any other info re prinz eugen, just shout!!
