The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.

A little bit pricy stay with 165€ per night but rooms were actually apartments with separeted livingroom and bedroom. My rooms were in two floors. Upper rooms were in one floor. There was also little kitchen that could have been used with extra fee. Beds were awesome 5/5.

Is the sauna mixed gender, and are swimsuits required?
Sorry, we did not use the sauna, so no help I'm afraid.

What is the best / easiest way to travel from Vienna airport to the hotel?
I took the fast train from the airport to the city centre, and then the u-bahn to Rathaus station. It's just a short walk from there.

Is there free Wi-Fi in the room &free parking?
Yes,there is free wifi in the room and it is good.I do not think there is parking, considering the location of the entrance of the hotel, namely at the narrow street with tram line, maybe there is on the back side, but I do not know for sure.

Absolutely none. Don't trust what you read on the Internet (except this specific phrase) ;) On a more serious note, about the only thing remotely related to safety that I encountered in Vienna was when I got lost somewhere on the west shore of the Danube and ended up in a working-class neighborhood. Two immigrants were shouting at each other, and seemed about to start pushing each other. I passed them by, they ignored me, keep - apparently - insulting each other.
