We had a very enjoyable three nights at the hotel to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday. I booked the Romantic Package.
We were very disappointed not to get the cocktails expected in this package - it was the key reason for booking this package over the others on offer (the café where the drinks are served was closed). The hotel did, however, offer us a complimentary mini-bar instead. We didn't make the most of this as we had taken champagne to have the first night, so make sure you use what's in there for it to be restocked.

LOCATION: I chose this hotel due to its excellent and wasn't disappointed. The tube station is directly outside. The underground was really useful (travel pass included in hotel package). A lot of sights are within walking or easy commuting distance. Many shops and restaurants surrounded the hotel.

DIETARY: I also had the fridge full of lactofree milk, butter and my gluten-free bread, BUT this is the first hotel I've ever stayed in that provided ALL of these things, as well as lactofree yoghurt at breakfast!

The BREAKFAST was excellent; good quality meats, cheeses, a selection of fruit and fresh-pressed juices, such as beetroot and apple, carrot and ginger.

ROOM: spacious, comfortable bed, triple-glazed windows and air-con, plus separate toilet, shower and bath and separated dressing area with plenty of hanging space, storage and a safe.

SERVICE: The staff were helpful and professional at all times. The porter was outstanding, a real asset to the hotel!

FOOD: we ate at Plachutta (Wollzeile); very close to the hotel and the meal was fabulous - very traditionally Austrian. I was very nervous about having boiled meat (served in a copper saucepan), but it was excellent, plus I had broth for a starter. Words can't describe how good it was. We also ate a couple of times at the Quest stalls and that too was excellent. We had afternoon coffee and apple strudel at Café Mozart. VERY unimpressed with the service, particularly one member of staff (a young girl who completely ignored us stood waiting to be seated), BUT the apple strudel was divine, and dairy-free. The next day, we went to Café Demel and had coffee and cakes. Everything was excellent, particularly the outstanding service!

VIENNA: We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Vienna. We couldn't have picked a worse 4 days weather-wise, bit there was so much to do, it didn't matter. We bought a Vienna Card, which got is into all the attractions free, but only once, so don't rush round thinking you can return to finish the next day. Some places aren't open on Mondays.

This boutique hotel is located in the very heart of Vienna, right next to the Stephansdom cathedral and to the entrance to the Stephansplatz subway station. We traveled just before Christmas for a three-night city break as a family of four – a couple with twin kids of 10. We were to stay in one Suite Classic, under the early bird rate with a 20% discount.
Two very nice touches to start with: upon arriving at the hotel still before 2 pm, we were immediately shown to our room (official check-in time being 3 pm) and we were ‘spontaneously’ upgraded (that is, even without asking) to one of the Suites Cathedral at the 6th floor, with a splendid view of Stephansdom.
The suite itself was large enough to accommodate us four – featuring a full bathroom and a separate toilet – and was tastily appointed, decorated in straight, modern lines. Another very nice feature – common, I believe, to all the suites in this hotel – was free consumption of any item in the minibar, wines included. The full buffet breakfast was everything you could ask for in a four-star hotel, including special omelets and coffees made to order.
As for the (overall small) ‘downside factors’, I would just mention the relatively steep price (at least, for Portuguese standards) and also a somewhat irregular replacement of some minibar items.
All in all, we found this a very good hotel, with a location which simply cannot be beaten in the whole of Vienna. We would definitely be happy to return.

Dear guest, we cannot thank you enough for taking time to write us this wonderful feedback. It really makes us happy and proud, that you consider us a very good hotel, this is a real honor for us. Regarding the replacement of the minibar item, which is included (1 filling per day) for all our guests who are staing in one of our beautiful suites, we are very sorry for the inconvenience. Usually our housekeeping team is refilling the minibar every day during the afternoon, when cleaning is finished. We really hope that you have found your home away from home at the Boutique Hotel am Stephansplatz. and that you will visit us soon again. Until then warmest regards, Marie-Luise - Assistant Manager

I stayed for five nights at this very impressive hotel. With one exception ( a grumpy young lady in the restaurant at breakfast), the staff were all excellent and were genuinely concerned that I was enjoying my stay.

I had a room at the rear of the hotel, no view but wonderfully quiet, even though the hotel could not be more central. You know how most hotels always seem to find something to get wrong? Not this one.

Rooms were spotless, coffee and tea topped up every day , breakfast varied and of high quality, location perfect .

I will certainly stay again

Excellent location, very clean, very modern and well designed. We needed some flexibility in our room dates and the hotel was very understanding when I contacted them ahead of time. The location is literally steps from the Cathedral and public transportation with an easy walk to other historic sites.

The only con of our stay was that the breakfast service can be a bit chaotic when the hotel is busy, meaning that a couple days we were not able to actually receive coffee as we were eating our meal. But, we were able to still have our breakfast as the food was served in a buffet format - and the food was fresh and very good. We just made our coffee using the excellent espresso machine in the room as we finished getting ready to head out, so it wasn't really a problem in the end.

We had a Cathedral view suite, #603, which is one of the largest suites we've ever had. A surprise was the powder room in addition to the spacious double sinked master bathroom. The electronic shades and blackout curtains were an unexpected amenity, very much appreciated. The stocked mimi frig was included in the price. The daily breakfast had substantial choices that can appeal to everyone, with the added bonus of full Cathedral views. The concierges were incredibly helpful in planning dinners and hiring a private guide that can be billed to the room. Would gladly return and recommend it.

The hotel is right in the heart of central Vienna and is only steps away from St. Stephens Church and from the U-bahn. While it is centrally located, our room was very quiet. We had a junior suite that included a nice area with a couch, desk and tv which was perfect for taking a quick break during the day (benefit of central location) or relaxing after a long day of activities. The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable. The only thing I didn't like about our room was the bathroom and only because we had a handicap accessible shower, so a curtain instead of a door, but that is a pretty minor issue. The breakfast room was large with great views of St. Stephens across the plaza and it was well staffed with super friendly help. The front desk were also excellent. We were warmly greeted and checked in very fast and they were helpful any time we had questions. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I had a large room overlooking the cathedral. Everything was spotlessly clean and new. The bathroom was also huge, with a bath and shower, and also spotless. The room was comfortable and warm and with the windows closed there was no noise from the square below.
Breakfast was superb with a huge choice on the buffet as well as other hot choices you could order. There was fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, meat, eggs, bacon, cereals, pancakes, croissants and Danish pastries....wonderful.
The staff were delightful, really helpful and welcoming
The location was perfect, right in the very heart of the city, but it was really not expensive at all. Fantastic value.

Good hotel for business or pleasure. Excellent location! Had a standard room, which was very good. Facing the courtyard, which was not that good, given how close the other rooms on the other side/s are. There was both a shower and a separate bathtub, which is highly unusual in such a standard hotel. Excellent service. Good breakfast. For a hotel of that standard it is really good value. Biggest drawback was that the room was unpleasantly hot (in February!).

We’ve just enjoyed a 5 night stay at this wonderful hotel.

We booked one of the suites for a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 child). Very good communication prior to our stay.

Arrived an hour earlier than normal check in, Judy was very helpful and checked us in. The room was very nice size, large bathroom, separate bedroom and there was a view of the cathedral. What a good start. The beds are on the firm side, and very comfortable. If the pillows were feather, that would have been perfect. The other thing which irritated the boy to no end, no cartoon channels in English :).

Breakfast next morning had a good variety, with slight variations throughout our stay.

Location is wonderful. Situated right next to St Stephens, with the U3 subway a few steps away. Walking distance to the majority of sights, so very convenient when the small person gets tired and we need to go back to rest.

We had a marvellous time in Vienna, and a big part of that was due to the hotel.

If your criteria for a hotel is the same as us, location, comfort and service then look no further.

Thank you and auf wiedersehen!

We have just arrived back from a wonderful Valentines break in Vienna. We wanted to splash out on a great hotel in a central location and the Boutique Hotel am Stephansplatz ticked all the boxes. We booked a suite on the 6th floor and from the second we walked into the reception area we were well looked after by the staff, including the concierge who took us up to our room and explained the facilities.

I have to say that Room 603 is one of the best suites I have stayed in. The room was really well laid out with the bedroom having a huge wall of windows overlooking the square and the fabulous St Stephans cathedral (check out the picture from the bed!) The hourly bells from the cathedral were amazing, as was the feature artwork light directly above the bed.

There was tons of wardrobe and storage space, along with a generously sized safe, leading into the ‘living area’ where there was a couch, another tv, tea and coffee making facilities and a well stocked minibar and goodies draw. As this is a suite, all items in the minibar and goodies are complimentary and restocked daily, which was a real treat!.

The bathroom contained a bath and separate shower unit, two sinks and a full range of quality toiletries. Generous bathrobes and slippers were provided and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a nice touch! There is also another separate toilet in the living area.

Breakfast was served on the second floor, again overlooking the square, which was great for people watching and contained all of the usual hot and cold items; the cheese infused sausages were yummy. The serving staff there were friendly and efficient, particularly ‘Mo Salah’! Sorry ‘Mo’ but I didn’t catch your name before we left. For those of you who don’t know Mo Salah he is a striker for Liverpool FC!

Overall, a great week and we will definitely stay here again if we are ever back in Vienna.
