Location: Just over the bridge from the city centre. Close to Schwedenplatz u-bahn (metro). Walking distance (if you are travelling light and don't mind a stroll) from Landstrasse train station where the super quick CAT train arrives from the airport (highly recommended). Vienna is a small city and you can walk to most points of interest without taking the metro....

My husband and I went for two nights in early December to see the Christmas markets. The hotel is on the other side of the river but easy to walk in or catch the underground. The staff are friendly and helpfull. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Good value for money, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to...

The rooms were a bit dated in style and were rather small. The Mercure could use an update. However, the location across the river from the heart of the city was great. We got what we paid for with this hotel and if one is searching for a budget hotel with good proximity then it is a wise choice.

The rooms are very small but clean. This is a bit old hotel, so be prepared for some noise. The reception staff was a bit unfriendly and slow. Breakfast is ok. The location is very good, I found a very nice eating are a few steps walking. It is very central. You get what you pay for, no false expectations.

The hotel is situated only a 5' to 10' walk from the St Stephan Cathedral. On your way you will find a lot of bars and restaurants ranging from the inevitable McDonald's to taverns serving genuine Wiener meals at very democratic prices. As a downside the best most popular touristic attractions are located a little further away. The hotel itself...

Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is delicious, stuff is extremely helpful, location is very good. The only two problems: wi-fi didn't work inside the room (but did work in public areas even in corridors), the entry door to room are hard to close (need to check that it is really closed before leaving)

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
