When I checked in I asked if there was a suite available for an upgrade with my status.. The shift manager said no, so I checked on the IHG website and there were some available. Then the tune changed, and she said oh there are rooms available, but you need to pay a hefty surcharge for them. I am putting in my review simply because I am upset that I was lied to.
The hotel is situated in the center of vienna, very good location, you can walk to the main attractions, the room is big and very clean. The bed is very comfortable and the pilltas wellbreakfast is served daily with very large options. I highly recommend this hotel
Having stayed here a number of times over the past 15 years and having stayed in some of the other well known hotels in Vienna , it was nice to return. The hotel from the outside is not the most attractive but i love the interior in the main reception. It has an bygone era charm about it. The staff at reception and all the staff in general are very welcoming, always smiling and polite. The location of the hotel is perfect , directly opposite to what WE consider to be the nicest inner city parks. The rooms do look a little tired and are in need of a redecorate. If this is a 5 star hotel, surely the in room tea/coffer offering could be improved. 2 tiny UHT milk cartons, very limited tea/coffee selection and not even a biscuit to go with it. That might seem a minor thing to mention and in the great scheme of things i suppose it is , but it is the little things that make all the difference. That said, I fully appreciate the terribly difficult times the leisure industry has had as a whole of the past 2 years ( not to mention, the rest of the world ! ) and it is great to get to be back to a bit of normality and the Intercontinental Vienna are certainly offering that !…
You get all you need or want: the hotel is situated to a lot of the most famous places of Vienna; service is very friendly and excellent if you need help. A wonderful and famous bar will help you in the evening ....
We have just spent a week at this wonderful hotel. From the outside it looks like an old apartment block but as soon as you walk through the door you are in a palace. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in a club room, but to be fair the club lounge was understaffed. The room and bathroom were very clean and housekeeping was excellent. The breakfast had everything you could want and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent position for walking round the town and opposite the entrance to Statpark. We hope to return to the hotel soon.If we had not parked at the airport at home we would have stayed another week.
This was our second visit to Vienna and our second stay at the Intercontinental. Such a lovely hotel ! The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is ideally placed for the city centre. There’s an extensive choice of foods available at breakfast, and the bar snacks are excellent value. I can’t recommend the Intercontinental highly enough, and hope to pay another visit before too long.
Ugly façade but get in ; interiore look Nice rooms are a bit out fashioned but the hôtel is close to thé Ring (Dow town) and close to a Nice park. Also breakfast is excellent and the service is very efficient. In summary worth to stay you will appreciate Enjoy!
I have been staying at the Intercontinental Vienna for many years, and have seldom encountered such good service in any hotel in the world. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and like being at home. The location is absolutely ideal, across the street from the beautiful Stadtpark and the metro, you can walk to everything in the city centre from here. The hotel is beautifully maintained and fully worthy of a luxury hotel. It is always a pleasure to stay here!
I do travel quite a lot but haven't been able to get myself into a discipline of leaving out reviews which would help other travellers. Hoping to change that from now on :-) Intercontinental Vienna has this nice old school charm. There's something about this place which reminds of an elegant charm of the bygone era. Many of the reviewers have listed how the hotel looks old and dated....to be fair that's partly true but it grows it's charm on you....Thanks to it's wonderful staff. Almost everyone that we came across from the time we checked in at 3 AM in the morning to our checkout was good hearted and service was excellent. The staff from the lobby cafe was exceptionally good at her work and so was the guy working at the bar. His energy was insane and he would bring our orders to us speedily always ensuring that what we needed was made available at the soonest. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were well appointed. We were staying for a special occasion and they had kept a cake for us in our room. The only thing that I would wish for is for the breakfast to have a little more options especially if they could have other international options as well since a lot of Non-Europeans also stayed at the property. And I hope they do retain their old school charm after renovation. Thanks Team Intercontinental!!…
The position of the Hotel is already a good reason to be there. Centered in the beautiful city of Wien, has all the conforts. A good morning buffet, kind staff and clean, I would recommend it to all the people that want to enjoy the city without even using transportation. 20-25 minutes from the airport this hotel is worthy of its reputation.
