Detailed Reviews
We arrived on Monday evening and after entering our superioe room it turned out nor finished with cleaning (bathroom), receptionist immediately apologized and gave upgrade to suite - two storey very comfortable and spacious room, we even started to talk about prolonging our stay:)
Location is very good. Just 5 min walking distance from Vienna Mitte train station. Thanks to courtyard placement, no street traffic can be heard.
Every hotel employee is greeting ( we met several housekeepers, receptionists, technician, waiters) and gives recognition to each guest.
But chemicals used for cleaning public areas and stayrooms are too strong. We had to ventilate our room after housekeeper cleaned our room while we were in breakfast.
Variety at breakfast is very good, value for money: cereals, milk, lactose free milk, soya milk, gluten free bread choice, freshly prepared omelet (this we asked since we saw that oven is hot and ingredients are there, just cook to come). Coffee machine with at least 8 different hot drinks, we learned chociatta (mix of coffee and hot chocolate)!
Despite there is clear pricelist for late check out : till 14; till 16:00 and till 18:00, we have got 1 hour later check out free of charge. It was very human way showed by hotel staff.
Our complaint to reception was about wifi. They sent technician in 5 min. Next day we discovered that there is signal, but does not let through instant messages, emails, only opening web pages. For business people its critical, in our case we used data roaming.
After our complaint to reception about wifi at check-out, they apologized with giving us 100% discount for breakfast for two for 2 days. I am in hospitality business for 20 years and long time have not seen so efficient empowerment of employees. Bravo for hotel management.
We recommend this hotel for three reasons:
Location
Very good breakfast
They correct their mistakes and show respect to guests.

We booked this hotel without knowing anything about Vienna... and it turned out to be perfect! It is within walking distance of the City Airport Train central station. We also bought a 72 hour City Card pass for all public transport (including CAT) which I absolutely recommend. The hotel has an old European charm to it, but doesn't feel run down like some others that we looked at. We did not have breakfast so only encountered hotel staff on check-in and check-out, but they were extremely polite and helpful. They also spoke perfect English for two Brits whose German is passable at best. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a short break. The bathroom was spacious and was kept warm with an electric heater. The room also came with an electronic safe, mini fridge, and hairdryer which were all very useful. The electronic keycards worked every time without fail. This hotel really is a fantastic find for couples or solo travellers, and the neighbourhood felt nice and safe. We also went to a nearby restaurant, Ribs of Vienna, which I would recommend for delicious food (pre-booking is essential). The only tip I have for newcomers to the city is that all shops close on Sundays.

I got a very friendly greeting from Christian and received an upgrade and drink voucher as I'm a gold member. I couldn't say the same for his female colleague on Saturday night.
The hotel runs down both sides of the alley and there are long corridors to walk down. I took the lift up to the 3rd floor, my suite 333 was up another flight of stairs (next to rooms 331 and 332) which could be inconvenient if you have a heavy suitcase.
In my suite there was carpet on the floor but no padding between it and the floorboards, there was a bedroom on the right of the corridor then a toilet then an open living room which led to the bathroom which had a slanted roof so you had to bend sideways in the shower and the water pressure wasn't very high. There was a second bedroom at the end which is where I slept and I wasn't disturbed by any noise.
My impression was that everything was very old-fashioned, it wasn't exactly true Biedermeier style and I felt like it could do with being renovated. There were no TV screens in the bedrooms and the one in the living room was very small. There was no couch, just a single bed pushed against a board on the wall and it was extremely uncomfortable and since the TV screen was fixed to the wall above the minibar you had to turn your head to watch it. It would be nice to have a proper couch which you can move and a footrest.
I had dinner in the restaurant both nights as I was there and the food was alright but the Caesar's salad was just a huge mushy heap of iceberg lettuce and was too expensive. My stay was fine but I would probably try another hotel next time a bit closer to the centre.

This has to be one of the worst, if not the worst, stays I've had in a hotel. The only positive I can find is the location which although it is not central, it is still very convenient. The mattress was like sleeping on a rock and imagine I actually prefer hard mattresses but this was horrible. I woke up in pain, literally, every single day. The room generally was average, at best, the wifi was dodgy, the breakfast expensive and poor but the most serious issue was that we suffered a bug attack during our stay and we obviously had to professionally disinfest all our things, at a considerable cost, once we returned.
Absolutely awful.

My NYE stay in Vienna was a disappointment. I understand NYE would charged much higher than usual rate but it is really not worth what I’m paying for.
This hotel located very near to the train station and the reception is located in a nicely decorated alley. Good environment.
However, was arranged to stay at Level 4 room (Can’t remember was it called Executive or etc) and we need to take the lift to Level 3 followed by a stairs to access the room. We had to carry our huge luggage to Level 4. That’s fine.
The so called Biedermeier design is old, and the galley built up with slanted ceiling really beat me. I was not able to shower properly due to the slanted ceiling. The aircon is so warm and unadjusted at the night. We did not request help to the room service as it was middle of the night and I just want to sleep through my night and move on.
As an Accor Member, this is disappointing.

The hotel has a very good location, just a short walk to the Ring (the avenue sorrounding the historical Vienna city centre) if you are interested in sightseeing, also just a few stops by tram 0 you can reach the hotel from the Hofbahnhof (Vienna train station) and viceversa.
If I would have to define this hotel, the best word is cozy, in spite it has 198 rooms, the hotel design with 2 entrances by 2 different streets and the alley in the middle, make it nice and cozy, as we were here in Christmas, it has a beatiful decoration, that can be seen in the pictures I enclosed to this review.
The staff was efficient, polite and ready to help us with any question or request, the room was spacious, with all the standards of a good 4 stars hotel, although I found that my bed (we had a twin double room) could be a little bigger, the bathroom was clean, spacious and well iluminated.
Regarding the restaurant we tried it once for dinner and we ordered a Caesar salad that was OK and a pumpkin cream, in spite there was nothing in the menu about the pumpkin cream being spicy, it was so spicy, that I could not eat it, I told the waiter about that, hoping that maybe they will offer me another non spicy or something different, but it did not happened…
Breakfast was excelent, with a wide variety of items of different types, as well as the quality of what they offer for breakfast, in addition the restaurant for breakfast is nice and cozy, maybe the only thing is that in winter to go to the restaurant from the rooms, you have to go out, but it is just a couple of steps.
It is still one of my favourite 4 stars hotels in Vienna and I would be back to GRAND MERCURE BIEDERMIER again, if visiting Vienna.

The hotel is in a very handy location being only a few minutes walk to the CAT station for direct trains to the airport and also very near to underground stations. It is also a very easy walk into town if you prefer. Rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds. There are a few options for food near the hotel and a supermarket also close by.

We had one night in Vienna with an early flight the next morning, but not wanting to stay in an airport hotel I chose this hotel based on price and location, as it was a short walking distance to Wien Mitte, which runs plenty of trips to the airport, even at 4.30am! Also, as an Accor Gold member I thought I might get an upgrade on my room.

The first thing to say is that this is far from your typical hotel, set back from the road down an alley. If I was arriving at night time I may have been more concerned than I was. Even in daylight it took a minute or two to find the reception, but when I did I got a very good welcome by the member of staff who acknowledged my status.
With our room key in hand we headed off to the elevators and climbed out at the third floor. Then we had to walk around a corner to find a small set of stairs, so up those, down a long corridor to find a sign pointing us to another set of stairs that took us up another floor. After a good bit of walking, that would be unsuitable for anyone with movement difficulties, we reached our room.
We had reserved a twin room and that’s what we got, although the beds were at a right angle to each other, something I don’t remember seeing anywhere else before and were not as wide as most twin beds that you find elsewhere. The room looked quaint and I thought it was fun until I walked into the bathroom to discover that that bath and shower were also built into the eaves, meaning that standing up in the shower was a physical impossibility!
I know what you’re thinking … ‘if unhappy with the room, why not go and ask to change rooms?!’ It is a good point, but the walk to and from the room, plus the fact we only ha a couple of hours to go out and see the city (added to early morning start) meant I just didn’t want to waste the time. Be assured, had we arrived in the morning, or had we been staying for more than one night there is absolutely no way I would have accepted this room. Climbing carefully into a bath to have a shower sitting down is not my idea of fun! It also would not be possible for anyone with movement difficulties to use this.
As mentioned earlier, the hotel is in a decent location for Wien Mitte - roughly a ten minute walk with suitcases. A little less without. There are also quite a few eating options in the area. Sitting in the hotel courtyard area is quite relaxing, although you have no view and the sunshine is totally blocked out.
I am afraid that apart from being a ‘quirky and cute’ hotel, plus the fact that all the staff we met were polite and professional, there is very little to recommend staying here. I for one will not be staying here again.

Unfortunately, my stay was quite disappointing. The Classic room that I received was small and everything looked tired and worn. The bathroom was freezing and, on top of that, there was no hot water one evening. The next morning there was no hot water in the shower so I had to wash my hair in the washbasin. I couldn't wait to leave the hotel.
Also, I'm a Gold Accor member, and I didn't get a welcome amenity. Poor loyalty treatment. (I didn't get a room upgrade either, but there were no rooms available so that's alright, but still I could've been given a better room than the one I got.)
Breakfast, however, was fantastic. Lots of options and even an egg station, which I don't see often in Mercure hotels. The location is good, withing walking distance of the city centre and close to the Landstrasse/Mitte station, which is where the train from the airport brings you.

We stayed one week and the room was never vacuumed - we tested this with a few tiny pieces of paper that we sprinkled on the floor the first day, and which were there till then end. Similarly in one week the beds were never changed. The breakfast service was good, but the cleaning staff were terrible. Our rate including two water bottles in the fridge - This never happened in 7 days.

Sorry. I don't know exactly. I checked at the time and it was expensive and, based on our poor experience at the hotel, we decided not to eat breakfast there.
Sorry. I never used their laundry services so I can't help you with this information
The suite I had two bedrooms each with a double bed. Maybe the sofa also converted into a bed.
