Located about a ten-minute bus ride away from the city center, Pension Vitis offers you a room along with a private bathroom and a kitchenette. The owner, Karl, is extremely helpful and accommodating of all requests, and goes out of his way to help out. The area is a quiet residential one with a huge mall at a walking distance,...

From being met at the airport by Karl to returning for our return flight Karl was the perfect host pointing out places to visit and looking after us in the apartment, although it was tucked away in a suburb of Vienna public transport is easily accessed and reasonably priced

Thanks Trip Advisor for listing this place. Gem of a find. Karl picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at the station when it was time to catch a train to Salzburg. Comfy, cosy with a good breakfast wheeled in to the room by Karl himself. Enough things for a veggie like me. Karl's supremely helpful on...

And when Karl says that --he means it. He has a solution for every problem and is always quick and responsive to every need. It was our first trip to Vienna, but with Karl's guidance we were able to easily navigate public transportation. The bus and metro are a short walk away and getting into the center of town was...

When in Europe, we usually choose to stay in quaint bed and breakfast lodgings. The reasons are numerous – they offer a peek into the actual life of the residents, they allow you the freedom to choose the best restaurants for lunch/dinner, they are reasonably priced. We like the most because the B&Bs don’t feel like hotels – they are...

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in July 2016. The owner Karl was very friendly and helpful. Our flight from the UK was delayed 2 hours and the poor guy had to sit and wait for us at the airport, but he was really good-natured about it. The room we had was really spacious and had room for...

Our host was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and we we able to cook simple meals. The location was great. Close to transit, shopping and restaurants. We were able to get to the main tourist area with a 10 to 15 minute bus ride. Nice quiet neighbourhood.

My fiancé and I absolutely loved staying at Pension VITIS. Karl, the owner, was very accommodating and gave us plenty of recommendations, all of which were great. He also picked us up from the ÖBB and on the drive to the apartments, he pointed out specific places of interest and some history as well. He also provided ample resources for...

This was my second stay at Pension Vitis after many years away from Vienna. I highly suggest the airport pickup, as this removes some stress after a long flight. The central location of this pension is excellent for both business and holiday trips (I have done both). I again found the rooms to be very well appointed, and especially appreciated...

Starts at the airport. If Karl says he will pick you up, trust him he will. We had a late night flight which arrived very late. Thankfully Karl was there as promised and set up everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We usually stay in five star hotels but based on the reviews we decided to give...

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
