This is the second time wie stayed in this guesthouse. This has been a monastery since the 1100, and still is with a guesthouse added on to it. The rooms are spacious and very clean, no frills. It is very quiet, although in thre Center of Vienna, with many rooms opening to a quiet yard with big trees. The whole atmosphere...

My Viennese friends hadn't heard about this place but were enthusiastic about it when I described it. Extremely quiet (until the church bells start at 6AM), in the middle of the old center of the city but not in the hubbub. The rooms are basic and not terribly modern feeling but I felt that was part of its charm, and...

An old monastery, this place offers simple yet clean and comfortable rooms. Not a lot of luxuries but enough to make ur vacation a memorable one. Located in the first district of Vienna, you will be steps away from the pedestrian area, their zentrum. A ten minute walk from from the cathedral, the palace and other attractions. The price was...

Excellent location within a couple of minutes of the centre of Vienna. The air conditioning is a small desk fan - we ended up having one of the windows open all night. Room for improvement on that front Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast - standard but quite pleasant. Best thing about this place is the location- very convenient- everything...

The location for Benediktushaus was perfect, less than 10 minutes walk from the Hofburg etc. It is also nice and quiet despite being in the heart of the city, as you would expect from a monastery. The staff were very helpful, for example teaching me how to use the safe as I could not read the German instructions, and ordering...

Quite enjoyed our stay at Benediktushaus. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Travelled with family, there were 4 of us. 2 adults and 2 teenage sons. Our room was pleasantly modern and large. They provide everything except for laundry service or a place to do laundry. The serenity of the whole monestary is a big plus. To be in the...

This B&B is located in Vienna's old city, the heart of any traveler's itinerary. As a home base, I was able to see most sights in Vienna by walking from Benedikthaus (only Schonbrunn required mass transport). I had a room facing the courtyard, which was peaceful. The room was clean and included a welcome tray of teas and coffees. Breakfast...

I spent three nights at the Benediktushaus with my two children (11 and 13) and it was the base for a wonderful few days in Vienna. Lots to praise about this guesthouse! First of all, fantastic city centre location - we easily walked to Stephansdom, Hofburg Palace complex (including the wonderful Albertina gallery) and the MuseumsQuarter from there. I am...

Very well run, peaceful hotel right in the heart of Vienna. Part of the Benedictine monastery, the hotel maintains a spirit of retreat whilst offering excellent accommodation for tourists. Comfortable, with the softest pillows in the world, you are practically guaranteed a quiet night. And in the morning a good breakfast awaits. No television, but who cares?

I stayed there with my family and found the central location made our vacation much easier. We were there 2 weeks before Easter and they had an Easter Market in the square right out front which charming gifts and food items. Staff was helpful but do have limited hours.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
