I was searching for a place to stay, considering the Ibis hotel forlornly, as they are all boring worldwide in my experience. Was standing outside the Gasthaus Franceschi looking lost I suppose and the proprietor asked me if I needed a room. A lucky coincidence and ended up having a great night at the Arabella rather than a boring night...

We had booked four nights at Guesthouse Arabella’s primarily because of the reviews we had read. It sounded a bit quirky and welcoming and the reviews were right! Arabella and her husband Rudi welcomed us with open arms. They fired out and marked on a map some places to see, what to avoid and the best restaurants in the vicinity...

We were in the nice appartment on the 3rd flour, with ensuite bathroom and kitchen where you can make lunch and coffee. It's heated well and its warm and pleasant. My daughter and I stayed here, and were supremely impressed with Aribella's place--clean, large rooms, a good price, and she was tremendously accomodating. She even fixed my rolling backpack! Would definitely hope to come back! Wonderful!!!!! Thanks

I enjoyed my experience at Arabella. I stayed here with two friends, all three guys from San Francisco, California. First time to Austria. Arabella made our trip to Vienna and Austria a memorable experience. Her hospitality was exceptional. She was very friendly and helpful. Arabella took us to the train station with her own car and offered to do our...

First of all, this guesthouse, is located in a small appartment in a building. The appartment is converted in a kind of guesthouse. The bathroom with the toilet is shared with all the other rooms of the guesthouse! And only one bathroom is definitively not enough for 3 rooms... There was an awful smell of smoke in our room, because...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
