This is an interesting place...you walk down the street and you think...mmm...small street and doesn't look great. However, it's a really , really good place to stay! The rooms are clean (nice clean sheets) and the atmosphere here is very good. Free wireless in the bar/lobby and lots of nice people. The price is great and it's just next to...

Was really worth the money. We arrived at Westbahnhof and it was right nearby the station. The receptionist told us where to go and was cute too ;) all together: Vienna is great, staying at red carpet makes it even better!

I stayed at Red Carpet Hostel just for a night in August and it was great! It is 5 min. walking from the main train station, the Westbahnhof. The room was quite small, but very clean and there was the refrigetor too. There is a great and very cheap bar, a tv room and a garden where you can relax...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.

“There can be a lot of noise in the street outside the hostel in summer, so you should probably ask for a room at the back if you're sensitive to noise. You might want to avoid rooms with broken plumbing!”
