Short flight to Saltzberg, hour and 20 minutes on a coach, and you end up outside this beautiful hotel. You get a warm welcome and luggage taken to your room. We were located on the 1st floor which is actually 2 floors up, having a lovely view of the mountains. Rooms very clean and up to date with a very warm, comfortable bed. buffet breakfast or freshly cooked...both superb. Dining area absolutely spotless with great views. Evening meal, of 6 courses, is also superb and waiting staff imaculately presented, helpful and good sense of humour. ski room located oposite reception then walk across road, up a short bank, and away you go. The 4 of us could not fault this hotel. All areas are beatifully decorated, swimming pool, saunas etc have easy access and well laid out.
Wonderful hotel with great facilities and the most welcoming staff we have experienced in our travels. We picked the perfect week when there were no children and we had free run of the swimming pool and wellness area. The pool could do with a couple more degrees of heat.
I have lost count as to how many years we have been coming to Hotel Steiner in Obertauern, but we just returned and have already booked again for next year. We love coming to this super well-run, cozy family hotel and Obertauern as a ski destination and this year we had lots of fresh and very good snow over Christmas! There’s always something new at the hotel, the management keeps innovating which is great to see. In previous years we have seen the rooms being renovated and this year there was a focus on sustainability. We had ‘Meatless Monday’ with a great vegetarian menu as well as new packaging for cookies and gifts and other green initiatives. This hotel is perfect for families with children, offering easy ski in and out, family rooms, kids clubs and large wellness area with swimming pool. The traditional celebration on Christmas Eve is always a highlight and we love the variety of fresh local foods on offer throughout the day. …
We came for summer holiday. Originally our daughter was supposed to come as well but she decided to stay with the grandparents. So here were are romantic weekend for two in a family hotel:-) firstly, we were seriously impressed with the interior. From the outside it doesn’t look much but on the inside you can tell that there was some serious work and investment done into this place. Rooms beautiful, in wood but modern. The lounge very comfy and inviting. Really great. Second highlight was the staff. You can tell this is family run business and that some of the staff has been on board for a long time. The highlight was when the cleaning lady automatically changed my husbands pillows for different type because she found a towel under his original pillow (as it was too thin). He has to do this quite often in hotels and this is the first time the cleaning lady thought this through! Unfortunately cannot comment on the kids club. I was missing bit action for adults. Sauna sessions were only twice a week (??) and apart from that there was only the Village activities. What we were not so happy about was the food. It wasn’t bad but it definitely wasn’t great. Firstly we have struggled every night what to choose from the menu (selection of three mains) as the options weren’t so exciting (eg schnitzel). But, whatever food we had, it was really good. What shocked us what the constantly same “starter” buffet which consisted on the first night of grilled veggies soaked in Balsamico and second and third night of remaining trays of grilled onions! I mean, who needs trays of grilled and pickled onions? Breakfast was great, loved the egg omelette- one of the best ones we have had for ages, but our pain point was the coffee. In the whole hotel is no proper coffee machine. Only automated ones. But that is our problem quite often as we are very spoiled when it comes to coffee So overall, loved the stay. Very impressive in some areas. Would be happy to come again. For five stars couple of loops to be closed, which I am sure should not be a problem. Maybe the dining is much better in winter season when the hotel is full. Hard to say.…
We were here for 7 nights. Aldo the weather wasn't good we had a blast. The hotel is wonderfull, the food amazing!!! Kids activities are very good. Service very knowledable and friendly. This will become our ski spot.
