Visited for friends surprise birthday. The staff could not have done more to help facilitate the surprise. Rolan the bar staff and the young ladies on reception were particularly helpful and accommodating. The food was superb. The fish night was excellent. Everything about our stay was wonderful. To summarise: an excellent five star hotel that still retains the family and personal feeling. Facilities; gym, spa, kiddies area, ski room well looked after. Ski in, ski out so convenient. Staff incredibly accommodating. Perfect stay. Thank you.

We stayed in the hotel for a 4 nights/ 3 days skiing special in the low season 3rd week of January. Outstanding service and food incl. Wine selection (Austrian ones). The restaurant senior chef is role Modeling service attitude, always attentive never overdoing. Bf selection has everything European restaurants can offer in very high quality. The mix of modern and traditional furnishings and decor is strange and won’t be commented as everyone has to make his / her own judgement. The rooms associated with the special are tiny, no space for the luggage with small bathrooms. I also have never seen a 5* hotel without coffee machine in the room. The Spa is good with far too small relaxation space. The relax area was full though the hotel was only occupied by 40% max. Saunas and Jacuzzi don’t offer mountain views, so nothing special about these. The ski cellar offers boxes per room however, these are not locked - the cellar itself can only be accessed with a room key. Access to the skiing lifts can’t be better - 10m slide. Overall a top hotel that I can recommend however, I don’t see the 5* except for the food and service.

Very good family friendly hotel, with excelent quite location directly at the Scheidberg lift. We enjoyed the runde slopes in both directions and had a pleasant time in the spa and cosy room with a moutain view balcony on a third floor afterwords. Our little babygirl loved playing in the Kinderroom area and swimming in the cosy pool. The breakfast was a top class with very wide selection. The gourment more course dinners with nicely decorated foods were a little dissapointing for us, as it was not always as tasty as it looked and especialy the soups, fish and risotto incredients were often oversalted, even in the children menu. The starting time for the dinner was too late for our baby (7.30 PM), so she struggled to keep calm and awake, refusing to eat. For a families with little babies, we would recommend the hotel to change the dinner start time to 6.30 PM with a menu of less decorational and more home-typical cousine. The bar and fire-place area is mainly a smoking area, so not very friendly for kids and non-smokers. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay in one of best-rated hotels in Obertaern.
