Cute hotel in a wonderful place, however the sound isolation is as good as nil (at least in maisonette rooms). The stairs and the second floor in the maisonette rooms must have been constructed not solidly enough, and we felt our neighbors stumping-jumping as if doing it in our own room. That’s why I had to wake as early as they (their children) did although wanted to sleep more :( The breakfast is poor. And you can’t also have a supper there. The host recommended us a nearby tavern where we had some takeaway, however why for the hotel management not to organize a delivery on demand from 2-3 nearby taverns for the guests? Well, because it’s a business of Cyprus-style (if it goes satisfactory why to improve anything taking efforts!)

Lovely room, warm and upper floor cosy. Nice sitting area on the ground floor, also with a chess table that came in handy. Lovely bar, lovely people. Dinner was also very good.
I've noticed that the owners are always there and it sort of feels homely.
Also, for those into skiing, Platres offers proximity to the ski slopes while relaxing in a wonderful village with several tavernas.

New Helvetia was among the first hotels in Platres and used to be a very luxury hotel in that time.

Noted is an old style charming hotel which is good for weekend breaks.

Room was nice with the 2nd room on mezzanine floor kind of loft which give some privacy, Nice decors in the the lof room and we had a balcony in the room.

Breakfast was ok. Hotel is in central location.

It does the job and with right price will come back.

Horrible experience and extremely rude staff including the owner! The owner was nowhere to found, he was absent most of the time and when we wanted answers about why don’t wr have warm water or why are the rooms dirty he was nowhere to be found. I am suprised that this hotel hasn’t been shut down yet and very confused with the critics because its old, outdated and not clean at all! We stayed there for the first time and we couldn’t wait to leave! Outdated rooms, dirty floors and dust everywhere. The stairs were horrible, red stained carpet , we couldn’t lovk our hotel room the locks were rusty and old.Bathroom was horrible , old , no warm water, outdated bathroom and the whole room smelled weird-moist The breakfast was awful, rotten eggs and weird cheese-waterish, we asked for coffee and the staff told us that machine broke,we asked for toast they also told us the machine broke, we asked for iced coffee (frape which is the easiest to make) once again they didn’t know if the machine was working and we settled with cypriot coffee (they charged our room of course). Fruits were rotten also. The only good for this hotel is the view but you can enjoy that in a different hotel and not that one. Disappointing experience and never going back again.

The New Helvetia is a cozy hotel with a very "chilled", ski lodge vibe in the hills just above Platres. We were given a room with a beautiful view on the 2nd floor and 2 balconies, and the staff were proactive and forthcoming with any requests. As a history teacher, I fell in love with the beautiful decor, much of which is from Austria and dates back to the 1930s. Perfect for a short break in Platres away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

The staff was outstanding, and the accommodations were clean and quite comfy. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. Anybody traveling to the mountains should stay at this hotel, in my opinion. My time at the New Helvetia Hotel was fantastic. From the valet to the check-in desk to the cleaning crew, every member of staff I came into contact with was friendly and eager to assist. I'm grateful. Will suggest to my coworkers!

We were not expecting much before visiting the place as this is a 3 star hotel on the mountains of Cyprus which means poor maintenance, moderate service) but we could have never imagined what we experienced. Doors and windows hardly closing (the toilet door was impossible to close), water in the shower being cold or sizzling hot but never somewhere in between, the toilet ventilator was broken, the bath towels worn and torn. It seems that some plans for renovating the place were drawn (I am not sure in which decade) and they are nicely decorating the wall behind the reception, but I am afraid that this is as far as they will go (i.e. for decoration purposes)...

Had lunch at the restaurant. Simple set up but wonderful place.
Wine bucket impressive and starters all good. We were six and among other dishes, we ordered two Mushroom Risoto. Both dishes tasteless- completely unacceptable; not really a Risotto. We completed our meal and the two persons did not have a second bite - had to settle with the starters. We asked politely the waiter to inform the Chef about it. Ten minutes later when nobody turned up with any kind of reply or comment, we asked the waiter if he had informed the Chef and his answer was positive but explained simply that this is how they make it!. Nobody bothered to check it, talk to us, offer any alternative or make any form of a gesture on the bill (not that it would make any difference but it would show they care somehow about their guests). We paid 15.00 EUR for each dish and 142.00 EUR in total and left extremely unhappy. Shame because the place is nice but got the impression they know little about service standards and customer satisfaction. Sorry to say we will not go back with this level of service.

If you arron Cyprus for a long holiday please take some time away from the beach and travel up the mountains to Platres and stay in this hotel.
It is just gorgeous!
I guarantee it hasn't really changed much since it was built but that is part of it charm.
I would have happily stayed an entire week there!
The town of Platres is also beautiful with lovely little cafes and restaurants.
A simple breakfast was on offer, of bread, meats and cheese but it was enough.
No lift for to carry your bags up but the staff were extremely warm and helpful and they are getting an exterior lift fitted post covid!
I recommend you to at least visit this place for a drink. It's like a step back in time or like being part of a Stanley Kubrick movie!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean and well-appointed, and the amenities provided a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. I particularly enjoyed the delicious dining options on-site. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay.
