Knowing the hotels of the area well, i find it hard to believe that this is a 1 star hotel. It is quiet, literally situated in the forest on a quiet road, clean, modern (free wi-fi), with tasty home cooked cuisine and a pleasant family of locals who run the hotel. Strongly recommended for any age especially if tranquility is sought after.

Me and my wife stayed in the hotel in October 2011 for a weekend. My wife was a bit reluctant to stay in a 1 star hotel but she was pleasantly surprised. The hotel looks better than many 3 star hotels we have been in Cyprus and the food is fresh and tasty. The hotel is also family owned and run this means no foreign workers who don't speak Greek and you get a personal attention, for example we asked for extra towels and an extra pillow and these were brought to us within minutes. The hotel is also in a quiet location, perfect for romantic weekends:) and the scenery is amazing.

After repeat holidays here I can highly recommend this family run hotel, now fully refurbished, with en- suite bedrooms, a large sunny dining room and off road car parking. Attentive and considerate family members have exceptional knowledge of the area, which is so helpful to have when planning your day. The rear bedrooms have wonderful views through the pine trees, listen to the sound of the crystal clear spring water flowing past the hotel- hence the name, "Spring Hotel" and drift off to sleep listening to the sweet song of the Nightingale, yes, Nightingales! I had never seen or heard a Nightingale until my first holiday at the hotel and it is such a pleasure to return to the Spring, to the peace and tranquility and to the warm family welcome.

I made a reservation weeks ago to stay at Spring hotel for a night during August 2013. Platres is quite busy in August and I was quite happy to find a room at Spring hotel having read the positive comments on tripadvisor. I made plans to meet with friends in Platres and visit my parents in a nearby village during my stay. Then 3 days before the check in date, the owner of the hotel called me to cancel my reservation because according to him, another guest wanted to extend his stay! Do you believe this? I have never experienced such an unprofessional approach. If he wanted to offer priority to guests staying longer he should have specified a minimum number of days at the time of booking not 3 days before my holiday. Basically the guy ruined my holiday since he gave me no time to search for another hotel in Plates. I told him that I will report this incident to the Cyprus hotel association and he replied that I can report him to wherever I want and that he doesn't care because he has the best comments from his customers. He then hang up and called me 5 minutes later to offer me another room but without an en suite bathroom which of course I refused. If you considering booking a room at Spring hotel then bear in mind the above.

Dear p016, first of all we do apologize about the mistake on our end, causing your reservation to be cancelled. The fact is that the person handling the reservations made a mistake and the hotel was already full when you booked the first time, we are people and we do sometimes make mistakes, this is what makes us human. However, we did try our best to give you a suitable alternative, we only offered you the room without the ensuite bathroom as a last resort,as it was the only one available, however even that room would work more than fine, as the toilet was just opposite the room and you would be given a key that you would only have so it would be yours.I think that if you and our reservation handler were both a bit more calm and polite to each other, things would get explained better and you would be able to stay with us with no problem. We strive our best to keep customers happy and avoid situations like this one and feel sorry about this.

My wife and I have just spent 2 very enjoyable days and nights in the Spring Hotel, Platres. We liked the ambiance of the hotel run a very nice Cypriot family. The location is good just off the top end of the Main Street of Platres and were deeply impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel...indeed it was spotless. And the views from the window of the pine forest was a joy to behold. Finally the breakfast was a typical Cypriot one and very adequate. This hotel is strongly recommended and we will be returning later in the year

My husband and I stayed a week in May 2013 and we were very comfortable. From our balcony we heard the rushing river, breathed cool fresh air and heard the nightingale sing. We enjoyed delicious home cooked food by arrangement, the breakfasts were excellent and the was room clean and comfortable with a good hot shower. Ideal position for walking in the Troodos.

We are a family of 4 and stayed in the hotel in September 2011 for a week. The hotel is just 10 minutes away on foot outside the main village square so is very quiet and the scenery is great, the hotel is in the middle of the forest surrounded by tall pine trees! Our 2 rooms were in a very good condition, they looked renovated and furniture and beds were new and comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, they even gave us free maps of the area and explained to us how to get to the hiking trails which were amazing! The breakfast was a bit limited but for a 1 star hotel and for the price was ok and everything was fresh. We also asked if we could get lunch there (as the prices in the local restaurants were a bit expensive) and the landlady offered us several choices but we had to order from the day before, even though this was a bit odd for us, the meals were great, home made and authentic, we even got free salad, bread and fruit with every meal and the prices very low compared to the local restaurants. We paid 100 euro per night for 2 double rooms with breakfast so not bad. We highly recommend this hotel and the area for nice family vacation and for people who want to see cultural things (churches and monasteries) and just great green forest scenery.

Situated just a few hundred meters up from the main town and just two hundred meters from the parking area from where most hikes out of Platres start , it was an ideal base for our walking trip. Our hosts were very friendly offering advise on things to do in the area. Our room was large and clean with a balcony overlooking the forest . This is an amazing one star hotel making excellent value for money. The wifi signal in the room was weak but it added to the peaceful experience - away from the hustle and bustle of modern like. Just what we needed!
