the farm house is little far from the ring road but very easy to find. we stayed for 1 night and the dogs are cute to play with. the view is fantasic around the farm and it's easy and fast to drive to vik (black sand beach). it would been nicer to stay for more than one night, so you...

We stayed at Guesthouse Steig for one night on our drive around Iceland. The guesthouse is a little ways past Vik. We chose to stay out of town for a cool experience and because there didn't seem to be any places that interested us in Vik. We had a great stay. The guesthouse is on a farm kind of at...

This was one of my favorite places we stayed on our 10 day self drive. The farm is quaint and authentic. The herding dogs are super friendly. Upon entering the reception area we were greeted pleasantly and upgraded to private bath accommodations. The reception area is quaint and quite large. From the reception a long hallway extends the length of...

Guesthouse Steig has it all figured out. Modest, comfortable rooms, thoughtfully furnished; modern, immaculately clean bathrooms; a separate kitchen and living room for use by guests; complete breakfast buffet (included) and optional dinner (including a vegetarian option); and friendly, competent staff. Oh, and two "greeter" dogs that joyfully meet each incoming guest with a stick for throwing. Place all of...

Perfect for us. From the quiet dogs at the front door, to the friendly approachable staff and the separate outside door away from reception. I loved the self catering kitchen as I drink a lot of tea. The kitchen and adjacent sun lounge were great places to mingle a bit with other guests, usually just one at a time. We...

We stayed at the Guesthouse Steig for 2 nights in May 2015. We reserved a room with private bathroom for about $140/night (including tax) and were not disappointed. The guesthouse is basically farm with a motel style building at the end of a 1.5 kilometer gravel driveway. Your nearest neighbors are the goats on the property. The reservation process was...

This was a father/daughter outdoor adventure trip so we didn't need "the best" or "the nicest" of hotels but we did want clean. Steig was in a great location and had fair pricing. But we wanted to save a bit more so we booked the shared bath option (as we did with most of the other places we stayed). Sharing...

A really incredible spot with the best of both worlds - a great sized room for a couple with ensuite (that we were upgraded to for free!), a delicious range of breakfast foods and also a well stocked kitchen to cook up dinner or snacks. The staff were really friendly and helpful, we would recommend anyone to stay here, you...

Staff were all really helpful and super nice. We were unlucky with the weather, but they were very informative about accommodation locally and what to expect when driving. Lovely breakfast with waffles. Nice rooms. The place has a lovely, homely vibe to it. They spoke very good English. And to top it all off, they had two great dogs.

We stayed here for one night, after the travel agency relocated us due to several issues with the reservation we had in Vik and it was the best place we stayed in Iceland. Very big room (furniture not of my like, but anyway), nice bed and bathroom. We were sure that would be the place to repeat if we were...
