Center Hotels Plaza is often commended for its exceptional cleanliness and its prime location that offers guests easy access to nearby attractions, dining, and shopping. While the inviting lobby and inclusive breakfast add to the hotel's charm, reviewers have expressed concerns about the noise level and described the rooms as basic, with some dated elements.
Despite these issues, the friendly and attentive staff contributes to the hotel's cozy atmosphere, and many travelers consider it a good value for its central location.

Detailed Reviews
Recently returned from a 4 night stay with my boyfriend. The hotel is a 2 min walk from bus stop 1 and looks over a nice square. Location is superb but does prove problematic with noise if you have a room at the front of the hotel. We arrived before check in time and the very friendly and helpful reception staff let us keep our suitcases at the hotel and go off to explore until check in time. We were in room 504, which was a standard room. It was very spacious and clean, however the light blocking curtains were quite shabby with lots of holes in which may be annoying if you visited in the summer. We opened the window when we first went in as the radiator had been left on full so it was super hot! Unfortunately the window then never closed properly, which was not a massive problem until Friday night. Friday night was really unpleasant as all night long there was thumping music playing at a bar or several bars nearby. The windows don't seem to be soundproof in the least! This should really be looked at because if you have early start or a northern lights trip on a weekend you will NEED a good sleep! We had to fall asleep to the sound of the TV because it was preferable to slightly muffled trance music. The bed however was really very comfortable and could be split into two if needed. There is ample storage space, tea and coffee facilities, a little seating area and a mini bar. The mini bar didn't make much sense though as the plug lost power when you took your room key out of the slot, so anything you would put in it is only refrigerated whilst you're in the room. I lost a good tiny carton of milk this way. The bathroom at first glance looked dingy and old, but turned out to be quite nice, just very badly lit. I'm talking very dark, hard to see properly if you're in the shower with the curtain closed! The hotel provides flannels as well as the normal bath and hand towels which is a nice touch. There is also a bath wash, hand wash and shower caps in the room, handy if you forget your own. Breakfast is good with lots of choice, the oat bars they make are delicious! They have 2 stations to cope with the amount of guests staying at the hotel which is very handy. Free wifi worked perfectly in our room. All in all it's a good hotel but could improve on a few things to make it excellent.

Upon booking I requested a room that was on a higher floor and facing towards the back of the hotel as I had read some of the reviews about it being loud. This was exactly what we got and it was perfect. To be honest, when walking back to the hotel on an evening we couldn’t hear any noise coming from the pubs anyway! We did visit on a weekday though so don’t know if this could’ve affected anything. Check in was quick and easy - staff were polite and helpful. Room was SO cosy and warm after a long day walking around Iceland, and radiator could be adjusted if needed. Room was very well equipped - hairdryer, cotton wool buds, shower caps and shower gel. The room also had a mini fridge, a TV with English channels, a free safe and an iron. The room was very modern (although we did upgrade when booking) and absolutely spotless. Beds were comfy and our rooms were cleaned everyday. I didn’t connect to the WiFi as I had plenty of 4G on my phone so I can’t comment on that. Breakfast was fantastic and there was plenty to choose from - flapjacks were to die for! The location was perfect too, a 2 minute walk away from Bus Stop 1 where we were picked up for all of our excursions. Restaurants and bars are located close by and the Grayline excursions sales office is a short walk away which was helpful for us. Thank you for a fantastic stay in Iceland, we will be back 💙

I booked this hotel for a 4 day stay for me and my girlfriend. The location is perfect as is very close to everything you would want to see/do in Reykjavik as well as being close to pick-up points for trips for the golden circle/northern lights tours ect. The hotel looks very modern and the ground floor communal spaces are great for relaxing or meeting up if you were a larger group. The breakfast you get included is very good and, given how expensive Iceland is not having to spend money on breakfast each morning is very handy- there is a range of fruit, cereals and porridge along with hot options incl eggs, bacon, sausages and fried potatoes along with breads, ham, cheese, jams ect. To get to/from the hotel from the airport we used the bus transfer from the airport to the BSI Bus terminal then got a short taxi ride from the bus terminal to the hotel as it was January, dark, snowing and freezing, but it would only be a 20min walk if the weather was nicer. There is a taxi rank just outside the hotel too so getting back to the bus terminal is easy, especially if there is a blizzard going on like there was when we left and walking with suitcases through snow doesn't appeal. The taxi is about 1,700-2,000kr. There are great bars and restaurants everywhere and all within walking distance of this hotel. The staff are all very friendly, and rooms were cleaned daily. The rooms were lovely and warm, got cleaned daily and had a very comfy bed. Probably the only negative was the shower design that meant the whole bathroom gets wet when you shower as the floor level is the same as the shower and the shower guard is raised above the floor slightly so water runs underneath. That said, the shower is very powerful so can't complain too much. You will also need a power adapter as the rooms don't have USB ports. I'd fully recommend this hotel for anyone as I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

Couldn't have picked a better location! This hotel is right around the corner from a tour pickup bus stop, right near lots of shops and restaurants, and a short walk to the coast.
The rooms were really spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. Showers were always piping hot with good water pressure. The rooms had hair dryers, a lockable safe, blackout curtains and we didn't hear any noise from other rooms or from outside.
Breakfast was good - lots of choice, and always had a table available.
Staff were friendly and helpful, especially when there was bad weather and tours/shops/restaurants weren't operating.
We'd definitely stay here again.

My wife treated me to a five night stay here from February 4th till till Sunday the 9th. Our room(302) was spacious and overlooked the square. It was quiet with very little noise coming from the square. The hotel’s centre location was ideal. All our trips left from Bus Stop 1. This was outside the town hall.
The hotel had the dining room and ice machine on floor 0. Reception was on floor 1 which was street level.
The ding room was huge with two sets of tea, coffee, cups and saucers set out. The hot buffet consisted of boiled eggs scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes mushrooms and finely chipped potatoes. There was a good range of breakfast cereals, muesli and nice bread for eating or toasting. There was orange juice or apple juice. The coffee was really tasty.
For once I did not take my gluten- free cereal. A pretty blonde member of staff called Nida was exceptionally helpful. She brought me 2 GF baguettes every day. The scrambled egg was absolutely divine and very filling and tasty. More importantly it was always nice and very hot. The hearty breakfasts set us up for our 4 trips. Trust me this is a great hotel with friendly efficient staff, great breakfasts. Tapas snacks are available in hotel bar for the day. Iceland is very expensive to drink in pubs and bars. Eating out is also expensive. We bought a litre of Bacardi which we drank in our room with Diet Coke. On the way back we bought a litre of export strength Gordon’ gin.

The hotel is a few minutes walk from bus stop number 1 and is set in a small square with plenty of small bars and restaurants nearby.
Check in was fine, our room was 508 next to the lift which was not ideal as you could hear it when it was in use. The room was on the small side but was ok for a short stay. The wifi was fine and we also had tea/coffee making facilities in the room, unfortunately there was no safe. The bathroom was small and the shower cramped although the shower was good and strong.
The rooms have ill fitting doors so they are constantly banged shut. Breakfast was not extensive but adequate and when costed against buying in a cafe it was good value.
The young lady with glasses on reception was very helpful.

We arrived early in the morning from the US and our room was ready if we wanted to check in early for a rate of $30. Definitely worth it. The floors were a little creaky so I hope we were not disturbing the people below us. We did not have a view but very quiet room, we pushed the beds apart for 2 twin beds. It had a electric kettle, sufficient bathroom, and a mini bar if you wanted to purchase drinks. The breakfast was the same each day but quite good. It had bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, plus some Icelandic options. Front desk was very nice and helpful.

We booked and stayed at this hotel due to the location, price and reading previous good reviews. On arrival our room was ready, it was a great room positions overlooking the square and was really spacious. It was immaculately clean, the bathroom was great, my only criticism would be the ‘queen’ bed was two 3/4 singles pushed together so the gap was rather annoying but I understand this is common practice in most hotels really.
Due to it being positioned on the main square we expected some outside noise and this was fine, however when it got to midnight the local nightclub opened up (Fridays & Saturdays) this very loud music (albeit great tunes!) went on till 4am then the noise continued with the locals/tourists fighting in clumps outside our window, this is by no means the hotels fault though.
We mentioned it to the receptionist the following morning who offered immediately to change out room however having all unpacked and settled in and knowing we had the biggest and best views we weren’t really wanting to move. They offered us some earplugs which we took. That night the music started again so at bedtime I used the ear plugs- omg I can honestly say they were the best if ever used in my life! I couldn’t hear a thing, cue the best sleep ever :-)

The location in the center of old Reykjavik cannot be beat for easy access to a variety of great attractions, bars, and restaurants. And it is hardly a long walk to the central shopping street and back. The service at this hotel's front desk was friendly and helpful with booking attractions. The service in the room provoked no complaints. The drinks at the hotel bar are competitively priced and the sitting/waiting area is quite comfortable. The unquestioned standout, however, is the buffet breakfast. It was far and away the best included breakfast of any hotel I have stayed at! And starting with a good free (included) breakfast is important in Iceland where food in restaurants is quite expensive. I will always look to stay here first when I visit Reykjavik again, and so should you!

The staff were the most helpful and friendly I have ever come across. We had a corner front room which was absolutely lovely, with a great view over the street/square below but that brought with it some noise. It didn't keep us awake but you could hear the binmen and street cleaners early in the morning. But the view, the room and bed, the excellent location and the staff made up for any noise and I would highly recommend the Plaza

There is no parking provided by the hotel, you have to find, and park on city streets and pay the parking fee at the kiosks
