Nice place to stay at and a desent prize! good service and a great view over the sea from the room. Facilities OK. Half an hour walk to most places in town, pros and cons! The weather could have been better
Very clean comfortable stay.needed to change room and was sorted while we had breakfast. Great location. Definitely recommend and would stay there again. The bar was a great touch along with the tourists information desk for tours.would recommend the fly by experience.
Hotel was good value although some of the rooms were very small. Breakfast was good and staff were helpful. The situation was lovely with views of the harbour and only a short trek to the town centre. Definitely recommend.
The bed is comfortable, do not have high expectations with the bathroom as it is not completely disinfected. I stayed for 4 nights and no cleaning or toiletries reposition. by toiletries i mean 2 small soap bars
The check-in was smooth the evening I arrived June , 2022 until I went to the room, When I went to the room, which was smaller than what the photos lead you to believe, I always check the bedding and mattresses in hotels and found dried insects on the mattress and lots of sand in the tufting of the mattress. I went back to the front desk. The young man I spoke with assured me that the rooms were clean and the the management regularly fogged/sprayed the rooms monthly. I asked for a cleaner room and was told I could have an upgrade at an additional cost. I said I just wanted a cleaner room and the desk clerk reminded, no less than '3' times, that this was a 3* star hotel and that was what I was paying for. I said NO, 3 star means less amenities and space not more dirt and less cleanliness. I did stay at the Hotel Caban but felt uneasy in the room. Other desk clerks were helpful when verifying trips, transfers and pick-ups. The breakfast was more than sufficient in variety and abundance. The lobby and hallways were dated and looked well worn. Location was good and walking distance to everything but noisy…
This is a basic hotel. The rooms were clean, but very small. Breakfast was pretty standard and unimaginative. It's a bit of a walk to the town centre. Thought I'd be fine staying in their cheaper rooms which had no windows to the outside, but the room was very warm and lacked fresh air. Felt a bit like I was sleeping in the broom cupboard.
The hotel is well priced and has good location, but the service is horrible. The main receptionist provides you with condesending remarks about other guests, and gives you patronizing smiles and a shrug when you try to ask for help. The younger staff try to help you as best they can, but are talked down by the main reseptionist. There are plenty of other hotels to stay on in Reykjavik with far better service and lower prices.
Consummate traveler hotel. Accommodated our large group. Friendly people on staff and as guests. Very helpful and responsive. Most mornings the buffet breakfast is full early and people eat fast before they head out for the day. Expect charter buses to be waiting out front. Small seating area with bar fills up a little at the end of the day. Blackout curtains highly effective when the sun doesn’t set. About a ten minute walk from Laugavegur, maybe 15-20 from waterfront district, but it’s a nice walk along the bay.
Wonderful stay. Highly recommend opting for the superior room. Ours was on the 7th floor and had an amazing view and was very quiet. Staff was always helpful and friendly. It is a bit of a walk from center of town but we preferred that! All tours picked us up directly from the hotel. Very convenient
