We upgraded to a larger room with a view. The room was quiet, very clean and there was plenty of room for our luggage. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was a big, delicious breakfast. There is onsite parking. The only slight drawback is the hotel is not centrally located. It is about 3 km (2 miles) from downtown. We took a bus downtown and walked back as we visited the different sights. There is a Subway sandwich shop across the street, a pizza parlor and Chinese restaurant nearby for dinner.
Its a very convenient location, minutes to drive to all atraccions but away from the crowds and traffic. Clean, simple rooms. Little storage, but not needed for a one night stay. Close to gas station, coffee shops that are not crowded.
The room was really really small, good thing I was out for most of the day. They never cleaned it. Location is good for the tours to pick you up, but a little far from everything. Breakfast should have more options
Hotel Cabin is worth the money. We stayed in a superior room, the room was good but we were missing the 2nd chair. The cleanliness was perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is good, short walk to downtown Reykjavik and Laugardalur only a distance a way. The only thing we were really missing, a part from the 2nd chair in the room, was bacon and eggs for breakfast.
Room was very clean and spacious. I stayed here with a group so I think us “singles” may have gotten the double rooms as part of the booking, so I don’t know what their true single rooms look like. I stayed in 2 different rooms. Rooms had tea kettles and blackout curtains. Rooms were very warm so I kept the windows open. Wifi is awful. It’s supposed to be throughout the hotel but the only place it worked was in the lobby (99% never worked in the rooms or cafeteria). The others in the group also had the same issue. I asked reception if there was a private room near the lobby I could use to do a video call but they don’t have that. So if you need to do a video call expect no privacy from the lobby as there are always a lot of people there. Hotel is a bit out of the way from anything. I stayed in 2 other hotels (both in the center) and have to say location matters. There is a nice walking path right by the water nearby (with a cold ocean breeze so bundle up). It’s a 20-30 minute walk to the center. It’s a nice walk but not so nice when it’s raining (a few ended up taking a taxi to the center). Tours and shuttle buses can pick up/drop off right in front of the hotel which is convenient (if you stay in the center you need to wait at a bus stop instead). Reception was nice and helpful. I don’t know if the key cards expire daily. I stayed for a few nights and each day my key card stopped working so I had to have reception reset it. Everything in the area seems to close early. There is a nice food hall down the block but it closes at 9. The other restaurants in the area close earlier as does the gas station across the street. If you come back late from a tour and don’t feel like walking to the center for food, the hotel does sell sandwiches and snacks.…
