Our flight landed at an ungodly hour of the morning, resulting in our arrival at the hotel 8-10 hours before check-in. Of course, our room was not ready, but the hotel found us a very cozy nook to nap in for a few hours. Our room was available at 9am, 6 hours before check-in. Hotel Holt has a wonderful atmosphere,... We stayed here overnight before heading out on a road trip across Iceland. The hotel is not fancy but comfortable and the staff is extremely helpful. Added bonus is the free parking right beside the hotel. The hotel is located a block away from Skolavordustigur street where there are restaurants and shops. At the end of Skolavordustigur is the Hallgrimskirkja... More

I had an excellent week long stay in October 2015. Visited with my daughter and her family (including my three wonder granddaughters - all beautiful young ladies. The breakfasts were both tasty and plentiful. The rooms cleaned each day, and I had a beautiful view of downtown Reykjavik. The only problem I had, was that I lost a watch while... More

We were there less than 24 hours while on a layover but that was plenty of time to give it a good review. Hotel in a great location, great atmosphere created with the artwork, helpful front desk staff, nice breakfast. We were given a "suite" for our one night stay. The bathroom is small but there was an additional tub... More

I was traveling solo and found this hotel just the ticket. The staff are extremely friendly, especially Elena who was always happy to answer my questions. The breakfast was good, nothing fancy but good enough. I always founds something to eat. The restaurant in the hotel was fancy and fantastic. I reviewed it on my blog if you are interested... More

I only stayed here one night! Location: Not directly in the middle of all the buzz, but a few walking blocks from all the main attraction that is downtown. Staff: Amazing, friendly, very helpful. Interior: Pristine & spotless. It has the old classic hotel vibe. This is not the modern hotel you might be looking for, so please beware if... More

I really enjoyed my recent stay at Hotel Holt. Highlight was the breakfast - huge selection with both hot eggs and bacon as well as the more standard bread/meat/cheese/yogurt/fruit selection and also plenty of fish and veggies. My single room was always very clean. Bathroom was also clean and very nice, but SO small. I mean, smaller than a cruise... More

Hotel Holt is well situated to walk to many attractions and restaurants in Reykjavik, not that it is a large city. The staff are very friendly and helpful, particularly ' Elise ' at the front desk who was always on hand with a smile and suggestions for places to visit. The room was small but comfortable and very clean, inclusive... More

I have sampled a wide variety of Reykjavík hotels for almost a decade, and my verdict is that Hótel Holt is the best value in higher end accommodations in this city. I say this despite one not-as-satisfying experience on my latest stay there in October (see below). Pros: - Location: within easy walking distance of the centre of town yet... More

Thank you very much for your review. I am very happy you enjoyed your stay and I have passed on your kind compliments to my staff. As you may know the people who established Hotel Holt in 1965 were very keen art-lovers and collected over 600 pieces of art, almost 400 of them is on display throughout the hotel, giving... More

I would highly recommend this hotel. The communal areas are in dark heavy wood, with open fires in some of the rooms. There are also freshly baked ginger biscuits in reception, a nice touch. Upstairs, the bedrooms are more modern. They are clean and well presented with a comfy beds. The walls are also covered in original artwork, some good... More
