Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don't trust this hotel if you need to get to the airport: We almost missed our flight. The evening before our departure we wanted to book the hotel's airport shuttle at 04:40 , but it was already fully booked. So we grudgingly booked the shuttle for the next option, which was at 05:00. We arrived with our packed suitcases at 04:57 at the door - and there was no shuttle. Instead, a sign "we will be back in 20 minutes". We waited 35 minutes, and then called a taxi which we had to pay and find and call on our own smartphone (without our own smartphone we would have been stranded). No help, no shuttle, no information, no apologies provided by the hotel.

I question the integrity and client cent redness of this hotel. I booked for one night, more than one month ahead of my stay. About 5 minutes later I found out that I would not be able to stay overnight in Iceland. I contacted the hotel within about 10 minutes of making the booking, and was refused even a partial refund. Despite there being a no refund policy on the site, I thought that this was a little extreme, avaricious, and very poor customer relations. Watch out!

We stayed here for one night on our way north to meet our cruise ship and wished we could have stayed longer. This seems like a good base place for biking, hiking and exploring. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast as well before heading off for the next leg of our journey to Akureyri. There were several cyclists heading out in the morning as well. This is close to the Reykjavik airport where we arrived from London. Nice and quiet and away from the city. I would definitely stay here again.

Our group of 20 hikers used Hotel Berg as a base. Breakfast was good and we could walk to restaurants. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There is a great area in the lobby to sit and chat with others. Many in our group took advantage of the hot tub. Parking was easy and plentiful. You can walk along the ocean from the hotel. We took day trips to Reykjavik and hiking areas.

Really nice modern rooms with good size and furnishings. Excellent view. Very nice hot tub. Breakfast is a little limited compared to other hotels on our trip. Staff was extra friendlyand willing to help out as needed. Room 201 is great. Short walk to the excellent Cafe Duus.

Stayed for one night before leaving the country thinking we would treat ourselves on the last night. The rooms with loft bed has spartan finishes but nice design. Biggest thing is that the walls are paper thin and we heard next door neighbors in the stairs and having sex and all the outside noise (on a quiet harbor and remote street ) came through the walls and roof like we were outside. If your breakfast is not included go to a cafe. It was overpriced for average offerings in a tiny room.

I can honestly say that this is the most money I've spent on a hotel in return for nothing special. It kind of looked like it was still under construction with damaged walls, carpeting on stairs. The designer who chose the bedside lamps is crazy. These are just stupid lights hanging from the ceiling from the power cord and there is no way you can keep them pointed in a certain direction and are easily knocked around. The room was labeled Superior but it was small. Definitely overpriced for what you get. This was our last night in Iceland and I chose this hotel because it sounded really nice. I was very disappointed. I have images.

Perfect hotel for airport. Only 7 minute taxi ride which the hotel provides as part of your room price. Also handy for Blue Lagoon. Very well appointed rooms. Tea and coffee available in lounge at all times. Overlooking small harbour. Decent sized hot tub ( but not as big as Blue Lagoon! ). Very good buffet breakfast overseen by a very charming and helpful Mediterranean waitress. Love the huge globe in reception. Front office staff all excellent. Comfortable lounge to rest in as you await delayed flights!

What a lovely stay at the Hotel Berg. So sorry it was only one night but a great way to end our stay in Iceland. We stayed in. Standard room and it was spacious and comfy. A lovely rooftop spa and then drinks by the fireside. Kayla was so welcoming at the front desk! The entire staff was pleasant and helpful! And an airport shuttle for free!

When I walked in to check in at the front desk, the two managers were on their phone and continued to chat before acknowledging me. I feel that they do not like American tourists and felt very unwelcomed as I saw the level in service was different for other guests.
