It's basic, but does what you want. An excellent breakfast catering for all, 25 mins from Reykjavik by a regular bus line and on the way to the airport. Regular and efficient cleaning, and helpful staff, No frills...
Didn’t stay here but met with some transportation problems to the airport. The really friendly staff working at the reception went out of his way to help us rearrange something even if we were not hotel guests. As travellers, there’s bound to be hiccups along...More
We had a one night stop before leaving. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was tasty with a regular choice of products. Buss stop nearby which takes you to the citycenter ( about 15minutes) and you can order picking up to the airport. One...More
The smallest hotel room I've ever experienced but the staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and the breakfast was decent. It is conveniently located nearby main roadways. I would recommend if you are on a budget that has complimentary breakfast.
Husband and I spent a week here with a rental car. This proved to be close to so many places to visit and eat. Wifi was great, free breakfast was good, never changes, but always has cold cuts, coffee, tea, juice, breads, jams, cereal, fruits,...More

I faced that problem in January, as many others have, due to a 7am flight arrival. I contacted the hotel and was told that there were no rooms they could promise would be available for early check-in. That may or may not prove to be the case on your arrival date, but you will need to contact the hotel to confirm their policies. Of course room availability in September can't really be forecast precisely a day ahead, much less 6 months ahead...
Two additional options to consider:
1) Make your reservation to start the previous day (arriving LATE instead of early) or
2) Park your bags at the hotel upon arrival (they will do this) and then take the #1 bus to Reykjavik to take a walking tour, then return at check-in time. A complicating factor is the tour start time, which would need to accommodate your "Flybus" ride from the airport to the hotel and the "Straeto" ride from the stop next to the hotel to downtown. Research would be in order. The hotel sells Straeto passes.
I chose option 1, which worked great. It had been a very long flight, and my wife and I were in no condition to try the second option.

Janet, I had wondered about car hire before we went in January, after seeing the weather & road conditions when we arrived I was glad to have booked excursions, the coach drivers are just so more adapted than us to the local conditions & the trips with grayline pick up & drop off right outside the hotel, if u end up in a blizzard u will totally appreciate someone else being responsible for the driving I think ! The South Island tour & geysers were well worth seeing/doing ,I'm not sure you would benefit from car hire as things are fairly sparse there & doesn't seem an awful lot to stumble across .(I could be wrong of course, just my observations ) . Have a great trip :)
