We stopped here on our drive back to Reykjavik, from Snaefellsness, partly because we couldn't find anywhere else to eat! There were three items on the menu, and we both chose the fish stew and a cup of tea. They were fine, but the 6,600 Krona bill we thought was too high. We can't comment on the rooms, as we... More

Like many people, found this place by using trip advisor. We had a great stay, if only for one night. Very clean. We had a studio apt. But got to look at a standard room too. Location was really good actually. A family run place with a friendly dog.

On our way up to the north of Iceland we had spent too much time in Reykjavik and were worried we would not make it to our next stop before nightfall. Having left without eating the prospect of finding a great place for lunch seemed grim, imagined having to grab something at a gas station which was not sitting well.... More

We were on the way to Reykjavik and the kids were tired. We stopped at a roadside hotel, Laxarbakki. Next to a salmon river with beautiful views on the back, we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and newness of the rooms. The owner and his daughter, who by the way spoke also perfect Spanish, were very kind too. I... More

We were just looking for a place to have a snack lunch, saw this venue and hoped they could accommodate us. We were very warmly welcomed, were made to feel very welcome and presented us with a more than adequate menu. We had a very satisfactory lunch, spoke to the owner which is always nice and had a thoroughly enjoyable... More

When driving past Laxárbakki you wouldn´t expect that there were excellent, luxurious apartments for rent there. And to add to the experience, the restaurant offers really nice, home cooked style Icelandic food. You also get a nice view from the hot tub, very comfortable beds and the staff is super friendly and helpful. A lovely place and well worth the... More

I'm going to be very honest here and say that I have not stopped at this hotel, but as a British person working in conjunction with the Icelanders to boost tourism in the quieter areas of Iceland, I can't see what the previous reviewer is talking about!! I was being shown around Akranes by my partners in Iceland when we... More

We were driving in drizzling rain, with mild cold in air, along the bay of Hvalfjorour, a well known Whale fjord, on way to Hladir from Akranes in Iceland. Akranes is located north west of Reykjavik. Bay of Hvalfjorour is a place where Allied Forces had a naval base during WWII. We, inadvertently, visited Laxarbakki restaurant. Laxarbakki is a family... More

Although the accommodations where comfortable and clean, it was frustrating that the host couldn't hold a basic conversation with us in English, like when does the Hot Tub open? Wi-fi access was only available in the main area which closed at 10pm and we had anticipated having access in our room. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast for 1,600 ISK... More

We stayed one night in one of the self-catering studios. It was bright, clean, modern and generally well equipped, although perhaps a little short in the crockery department. The main drawback was that although wifi was advertised, which we wanted, the studio itself only contained wired internet, so our mobile devices were useless. There was also no cable or satellite...
