Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed in this small charming small hotel for a total of 11 days while conducting archaeological research of Korsholm Castle (14th-18th centuries). Upon arrival I was welcomed by a friendly young woman in the reception. My room on the third floor was like walking into a small museum with dark wooden furniture and a smell of not having been used for a while. Thankfully opening up the window and flushing the bathroom shower, the sink and the toilet solved the issue. The room was a little outdated but otherwise ok. The windows didn´t keep out the noice from the restoration of the nearby hotel but I guess that will be over in a couple of months. The maintenance of my room wasn´t what I would have expected. The cleaning lady forgot to empty the trash can twice, forgot to bring a new bath towel and once forgot to add more toilet paper. The bed linens were not changed during my 11 day long visit and the towels only once... The breakfast room was a little cramped but the continental breakfast was varied enough for my lengthy visit. One thing I found a bit annoying was the background music on the 1st floor (the breakfast room, lobby and bar) for the entilre length of my visit the only played Frank Sinatra. Can´t imagine how the staff can stand that on a daily basis :D

Small boutique hotel in the middle of Vaasa in the historic building. We arrived very late (midnight), but we got good service. There was road construction work so there was not parking space available, but the hotel gave us personnel's private parking space from their courtyard. Did not cost us anything. Room for two was spacious and the breakfast was excellent.

I spent one night for business reasons in Vaasa - the hotel is nice and the Management kind and helpful. Rooms are tiny and - at least the one I got at the third floor - seemed very old. The location is quite good to reach both the city center at few hundred meters or the marina area with its restaurants.

This is an old hotel with a quirky interior and kind of old character. I think it's great that they haven't tried to modernize but instead stayed true to the original design. Everything is in good shape, the bed was great, and everything was clean. Spent the evening in the bar. Their scrimp sandwich is epic. The breakfast was amazing. One of the best I've seen. What really made our stay was the really nice staff. Everyone was really friendly and attentive. Great job!

I stayed for almost 2 weeks. The roomsize was good, the bed was right. The bathroom had a sauna. Actually the whole place looks a bit outdated, but it is in good shape still and the staff is very friendly. The windows can be opened, so you are not getting this always dry air from the AC. The breakfast has also a good variaty to choose from. There is always that old 50-60ties music which I like.

I stayed one night in Vaasa and in Astor. This was my first time but not the last! Hotel is positively different than the much bigger country wide chain-hotels. Location is very central in the middle of Vaasa. Room was spacious and very clean. Special twist was own sauna. Very nice! Bed was comfortable. Breakfast deserves a separate praise: it was plentiful, really excellent! Hotel staff was very polite and helpful. Good work!

The hotel is located just across the railway station and 5 minutes walk from Vaasa center. The room was great, the hotel has vintage atmosphere. Their breakfast is the best we had in our visit to Finland. The service was exceptional. For example: Usually breakfast hours are 7-10 AM. We had train tickets for 6:45 AM on our last day so we asked them to pack breakfast for us. They did not pack breakfast - the receptionist have talked with the man in charge of breakfast and he made breakfast ready at 6 AM that day ... If we ever come back to Vassa - we will for sure stay in Astor hotel.

Good location. Rooms are nice and quiet with good beds and air conditioning. Breakfast is however really poor and the lobby is not beautiful. Really expensive rooms and no food available at nights so quality-price relationship is bad.

I have been visiting in Astor many times. The rooms not so good but the breakfast is really great and includes many local specialites. For the breakfast I would give 4,5 but the rooms are more in the 3 star level. Old is not always positive thing in hotel.

Everything was exceptional; room, cleanliness, staff, atmosphere and the breakfast. The only thing we can complain was the air conditioning. But it was unnormally hot at that day, over 30 degrees. The room was really hot in the night and the air conditioning was not efficient enough. But I would definitely return (when the weather is normal Finnish weather :) ).
