Detailed Reviews
This is a relatively large hotel by Finnish standards that we chose because of its location in the countryside. We weren't planning to use the spa since we had only one night here and preferred to walk the wooded trails nearby which were delightful. Reception was very efficient and friendly and spoke perfect English. Our room was very small and had no desk or air conditioning, lucky they supplied a fan. The view of the fjord was simply sublime. We dined in rather than drive back to Turku. The buffet didn't look too appealing so we went with ala carte and really enjoyed the salmon/avocado salad which was perfect for sharing. I thought my ribs were excellent and my spouse was very satisfied with the mixed grill. The breakfast buffet was satisfactory.

It is very easy to get here with bus from Turku and it is cheap (3€), so if you do not carry too much with you take a bus, it will take around 30 minutes.
Are is great and beautiful. So if you are into nature there is plenty to see. You can hike and bike around.
Hotel and spa itself has seen its better days but everything works. Food was ok but nothing mind blowing.
Pools and spa are small and old but you can easily get into sea too.
I was traveling with my daughter and fair warning that there is nothing to do for older children but pool and nature if they enjoy that. So if you have older children (7+) or teens, better looks something else.
Small children and couples should enjoy nice and peaceful atmosphere.

Our friend had a 50yo birthday party close, so we decided to stay here, because it was more convenient than taxi rides from and back to home. Location next to the sea side is beautiful, especially if you like outdoors. Friendly front desk and all seemed to be good at first. But, everything changed when we got to our room. It was a sunny day and room was REALLY hot. No air conditioning, only little floor fan that wasn't enough. You could open the window only like 10cm, so that didn't help at all, especially when there was at least 20 seagulls screaming on roof next to us and keeping us awake. When we went to breakfast, no orange juice available at all and sign next to the plates "please take only one napkin". So it seems that they try to save every penny they can, which is not nice when early bird price with parking was around 200€/night for max. 3-star hotel. We were so disappointed after sweaty night, that didn't even go to spa

Hi, thank you for your stay and feedback. I'm glad to hear you found our staff friendly and helpful. In some of the rooms that lack AC, the temperatures can rise due to the warm and sunny summer days we have enjoyed for the past weeks. At breakfast we offer orange juice, apple juice and lingonberry juice each day. Best regards,

The hotel is a bit outdated but beautifully located by the sea. The potential of the hotel is spoiled by non-professional and rude staff.
We visited the hotel in December 2021 for a family reunion. The hotel turned out to be a total disappointment due to staff failures.
In spite of us having prebooked rooms, Nora in the reception managed to mix up the rooms and quite rudely required us to pay for an extra person. No apologies when they after some exchange found out that we actually already had paid for an extra person.
When we returned to our room in the evening, we found the door wide open and all our belongings exposed. It turned out that the reception had given our room to some other guests as well, who had entered the room and left the door open. No apologies for the mix-up were offered by the reception desk. Somewhat later a guy from the reception turned up demanding us to give our names. No apologies offered. As a result of the confusion and room keys provided to total strangers, some of us felt very unsafe and could not sleep at all during the night.
No apologies or ompensation were offered by Nora in the reception in the morning, instead she rudely indicated that we, the customers, were to blame. It never occurred to me how we as customers could have caused that total strangers were allocated to the room allocated to us.
Some guests in our small group were old people, and the appaling, rude and unrespectful behaviour of the staff in the reception towards them indicates that this hotel is not at all interested in guests who are 60+. Please beware!
The rooms are clean and rather spacious but basic. Room cleaning is not offered on a daily basis unless you ask for it. The electrical board in my room produced a uniform humming sound that could disturb some delicate sleepers. Breakfast is plentiful but industrial.
Due to the rudeness of the staff and unwillingness to apologise or admit mistakes this hotel does not deserve mote than one star.

Normal rooms are very hot, no AC. Cannot sleep at night because of that, only superior rooms in new wing has AC.
In breakfest, many items are not available and the restaurant is not cleaned during breakfest fast enough, so there are no clean tables to sit.
In Spa, lockers where all occupied (only about 15-20 lockers), so you cant leave your items there. Also there is 1 jacuzzi which is nice, but two other pools are freezing.
So if you don't get superior room, don't bother. With same price you will get rooms from somewhere else.

On a freezing cold and windy April day at Ruissalo we called at the Spa hotel for a warm meal while waiting for bus transportation. The restaurant was offering a buffet lunch with hot soup and we thought it was ideal for the occasion. However the staff were most objectionable when we asked for a table and in spite of there being an abundance of empty seats we were refused entry on the basis of only groups should be admitted. When asked for their definition of group - there were four in our party - we were ushered to the cafe counter where the only offerings were underwhelming and overpriced bread rolls and weak coffee. I have not experienced such service and would not recommend anyone to patronise the restaurant.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience at Ruissalo spa hotel. On the day of your visit, the restaurant was fully booked for a private fuction/ group, why we could only accommodate guests in the lobby area. I am sorry, that our staff was not polite or communicated the message as intended. On most days of the year, we are very happy to welcome anyone from a single visitor to large groups. I wish you a lovely summer time! Kind regards Eerika Rinne General manager

The hotel is in a beautiful location, nature and the sea are close by. The place is quiet and beautiful. The room had a beautiful view of the bay. - The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful. In the park, the birds are singing. The sea is a few tens of meters away. You can swim directly from the spa in summer as well as in winter.

We stayed in a superior room with two small children (a 4-year-old and an 8-month-old baby), the room could not be darkened in any way. The sun was shining directly into the room and the curtains were some kind of flimsy paper that would go straight to the trash. It's hard to get the kids to sleep when it's really bright at bedtime. Small babies were not taken into account in the washrooms on the spa side, there was no seat to put the baby down. Very little stimulation for children also at the pool side. The food in the restaurant is expensive and average. The french fries are good, but the hamburger is a bit unfortunate.

We loved the location and really enjoyed the landscapes and the rocks and everything in the waterfront spending hours wandering around the area. The sea view rooms were definitely worth the extra, but the bathrooms were a bit disappointing: the bath tub surface was "worn out", had stains and we didin't feel like using it. Otherwise the experience was mostly positive: the hotel was peaceful, the restaurant was great and the personnel excellent especially at the restaurant - they even gave the kids special attention. Comfortable extra bed for our 6y.

I expect that children are considered as guests when Moomin theme rooms are sold, unfortunately not. Moomin room decoration was modest, restaurant buffet had no food for children and spa did not have children’s pool. Also location is quite far from Naantali Moomin world.

Hey, thank you for your feedback. I will take your message to restaurant to consider a separate dish for children in the buffet. Though there are plenty of variety in our a la carte menu. It takes about 30 min to drive from Ruissalo to Moomin world in Naantali and because we are a sister hotel to Naantali Spa Hotel we also have a couple of Moomin hotel rooms as well as Naantali Spa Hotel has those. These rooms have a Moomin decor and they have been really popular amongst Moomin fans :) Wishing you a nice Autumn time and welcome again! With Best Regards, Ruissalo Spa Hotel
