Among the many problems with this place is that fact that it is one of the most expensive spa hotels we have visited in Finland, but they add extra charges for everything. While you can expect to pay for dressing gowns and slippers, they also made us pay for the most basic things, like the "laudeliina" (small cloths you use in the sauna for basic hygiene)... over 5 euros each! Despite being located in quite a large area (outside the centre of the town) they also charged high rates to park a car. These would have been acceptable if the hotel was any good, but it was very poor: the hotel room was tiny, with the smallest child's bed I have ever seen, and lovely view across a massive flat roof, motorway, and industrial areas. To make things worse, we were woken at 7am by horrendously loud cleaning carts banging up an down the corridor (probably made extra loud because there was no carpeting across much of the area). This continued non-stop for the next hour or more. The breakfast was among the worst I have ever had, the dining area was crazy and really loud from all the echoing. The food was very poor, with no basics such as croissants or pastries and the hot food selection was a mound of unappealing bacon and some solid "scrambled egg", oh and meatballs. The fruit salad was full of slimy, over-ripe mango, wrinkled grapes, and tasteless melon. The spa was also... not good. There were a couple of waterslides which were ok, but the pools were really small and odd-shaped so you couldn't actually swim properly. The one proper swimming pool was always unavailable because of endless water aerobics classes, while the one nice and relaxing warm pool was also closed for outside classes. There was one jacuzzi, which could fit about four people max, and as you can guess it was always full. The changing rooms and shower area was also very strange and unwelcoming, with really weird design and hard to find stuff. In fact, the guest entrance to the spa was really horrible as it felt like going through service entrances: we were in our dressing gowns in the elevators and workmen kept joining, while to access the actual spa we had to walk through bare corridors which kept opening onto areas open to the public and the main hotel. The staff were nice and at least it was easy to get to the city centre to go to a nice restaurant.

Biggest problem: The level of cleaning. The room we first got had a used tampon in the bed. We got another room and some restaurant vouchers with apologies. The second room was cleaner, but the mattress had large dried up brownish stains under the sheets we noticed upon leaving. First thought: what kind of people leave a used tampon under the mattress of a hotel bed? What kind of people bleed(?) or make a mess in bed and don't try to clean it or get the staff to help clean it? The staff are either undermotivated or overworked, I'm sure they do their best under the given circumstances. But still felt like a robbery paying almost 300 € for two nights on someone else's brown stains.

Stayed few nights just before christmas in the 2 bedroom Villas at Holiday Club Caribia. Our Villas-apartment was situated in the separate block just behind the spa-area (outdoor pool, wooden sauna and smoke sauna). You can also rent the Villas form Holiday Club (1 bedroom 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom) an the apartments are either in the main building or in the separate block 20 meters away. The separate block is little more wuiet but you need to go outside for 20 to 50 meters to get into the hotel and it's services. If you stay at the Villas you have to pay extra for breakfast, spa and parking if you wan't to have those. The Villas are still in quite a good shape (some weariness though seen) and with good and practical amenities (full kitchen, washing machine + dryer, own sauna (2 and 3 bedroom apartments) +++ Really liked this time + Kitchen was good and fuctional with good utensils + Nice sauna + Big balcony with grill (though not usable in winter) + Quiet stay both in the Villas and Spa-area + Frendliness of the staff + Even that the spa-area is starting to look little old it was very ok with the clenliness and crowd Didn't like - Few minor issues (handles of fridge and freezer loose, toilet cover loose) - Twin bed is actually two single beds that slide away from eachother... - It's little awkward to go to spa throw the hole spa with your winter-clothes on (if you live in Villa and buy the entrance as a hotel guest) - Wooden sauna and smoke sauna should be on more often - Christmas was hardly seen at the hotel All in all good few nights just before christmas with affordable price

Unfriendly hotel with non-service oriented personnel Liked · Hotel is rather clean and very good situated for the purpose of our travel in Turku. There are three place for eat on the territory. Pretty easy to reach any necessary locations at Turku from the hotel place. Disliked · _Attention to Booking.com!!!_ Hotel always book the room in the most far and inconvenient location in the building with most cheapest possible category. We called in the hotel two times and asked specifically about Safe Box availability. Both times hotel people convinced us that they have it and it is fully functional. After we arrived, safe box was not functioned and receptionist told us: "Service man could come in 20-30 minutes, but may be not come at all, because you arrive so late (18.00). If you like to walk-out or go to SPA, you could drop you staff here at reception desk". So, instead of giving us a service we paid for lady on the reception suggested us give her all our money and jewelry and to to swim. So, this is a level of service in that hotel. Finally, no service man arrived and safe not worked at all! Very unfriendly attitude to service delivery and guest requests. Also, we tried to call reception from the room (only own mobile phone possible to use), but after waiting 5-7 minutes waiting we got no response. Other moment, that hotel receptionist during our check-in try to "sell" us SPA service again, even we booked it at booking.com and get guaranty, that it is already included in our booking price. Additional "surprise", that all parking places near the hotel sold out to External Parking Managing Company and all customers arrived by car need to pay extra 14 euro per night (if car not electric, charging is separate cost as well). And finally, there are three place for eat (fast-food) on the territory of the hotel, however, SPA zone close at 21.00 and places for eat as well close at the same 21.00. Bingo! Dear customers, go our to eat! Very unpleasant feeling for stay. Hotel absolutely not care about guest and attitude are very unfriendly.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. Sorry to hear about the trouble during your stay. Our maintenance department operates during office hours but can also be called in for critical cases at evening time. All devices come to their end at some point, unfortunately the safety box stopped working upon your arrival. Luckily customers have the possibility to store valuables at the reception. All our hotel rooms are equally reserved to customers, there are no separate room categories for different companies or reservation routes. The room category comply with Booking.com's orders, therefore you have to contact Booking.com's customer service separately as we can not change their bookings on site. I apologize for this misunderstanding. We recommended to check up opening hours and services in advance from our website. Also the information of car parking fees is listed. Hopefully you still got to enjoy our facilities and made some happy memories. Kind regards, Tero / Turun Caribia

We loved the stay at the hotel. The pool area was great and they have a lot of other things to do here if you have kids. I would have given the hotel 5 stars if it wasn’t for our experience at the “super park” or SPR PRK that’s located in the building. We thought it was included in the hotel price since the water land is - but it wasn’t. An easy mistake to make. They weren’t very nice about it, they actually chased us around. They checked so we did pay twice, at first we only bought one ticket for the kid. The second time they checked us up they made us pay for two adults because we helped our kid get balls when he played a ballgame. Every time we had to exit the building and go to a reception so that was a big bother and time loss - such a pity since they closed pretty soon. They worst thing was that they told us off twice after we paid 2h for three people although they where only open for 45 more minutes and it was practically just one person doing the activity. It definitively put a damp on our last night and our kid wanted to leave after the second tell off because he didn’t feel comfortable staying there.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. SuperPark's activities are designed for people of all ages, therefore even adults have to purchase tickets. There are three different ticket types: 2h, 4h and a whole day ticket. Children at ages 3-10 yrs. can be accompanied by one adult supervisor for free. As a supervisor activities are not included, but of course it is allowed to help a small child. Please note, that SuperPark is their own company and not a part of Holiday Club Resorts. Hopefully everything else was enjoyable and you got many lovely memories from your holiday at us. Welcome again! Regards, Tero / Turun Caribia

Our first room is awful..bathroom not cleaning..bathroom smelled, the toilet paper holder and shower wall was detached. We got a new room but had to go and ask for the bathroom to be cleaned. The spa was nice but needs renovation. The smoke sauna was also nice and the food and breakfast were good. The surprise was that spa customers had to pay for bathrobes. We will come again as long as the renovation is done and the place can be kept clean.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. I'm very sorry for the need to change your room and the lack of cleaning. Hopefully it got taken care of as soon as possible and you could start enjoying your holiday. We renovate and renew areas when needed. The spa opened in 1999, so it has been through 20 years of active use. I'm glad to inform that Holiday Club Resorts has just announced to make a plan for Turun Caribia and it's needs for renovation. These plans will be carried on in a few years time. Welcome again!

Old fashioning pool holiday reaort. No environmental sustainability actions or programs were seen. Lightnin was halogen and it was on day and night. No waste sorting was possible for quests. No organic or plant based proteins were served at breakfast. Green business is needes here! Room was fine, bed comfy and temperature fine.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. Our hotel was opened back in 1999 and there was a very rich Caribbean interior theme back then. Some of our interior still honors that era. Some environmental actions are made at Caribia, for example room cleaning and change of towels /bathrobes during the stay is nowadays an extra service, only done if needed. Also one time single shampoo etc. products are replaced with more sustainable products. Unnecessary use of bathrobes and slippers is minimized by charging a small 2€/3,50€ fee for their use. As an energy saving method we have lowered our pool temperatures with one degree. Out lighting system will be renewed area by area as soon as possible. The Holiday Club Resorts management is currently planning new greener systems, hopefully it will be seen by our guests in the near future. Hope to see you here again! Kind regards, Tero / Caribia

+ Good breakfast + Clean and quiet room (stayed on 4th floor) + Big enough spa area to actually swim in, and good water temperature - not too cold, was able to enjoy the pools. Nice steamroom sauna as well. + Friendly staff at reception - Room temperature was constantly >+19C and couldn't be changed, guessing is a part of energy saving effort but in January that's too cold. - Slippers and bathrobe were extra expenses, not included in the price of a SPA HOTEL stay, which was interesting. -TV had just basic Finnish tv channels, no international channels, as was promised in 'room amenities'. Also they don't clean rooms during your stay, only in between guests checking out/in, which was actually a positive thing for me but might be a minus for some travelers.

I was on introductory vacation and nobody told me where is that weekly stock presentation. Luckily I was active myself and went to reception to ask about that. I got an answer and I heard behind the asnwer how employee thought how dumb is that guy that he didn't know where to go. In my room the only one armchair had been maked to bed although I was travelling only with myself. Luckily I could put it back to armchair. The hotel is spa hotel so I waited for the possibility to get to swim and go to sauna. There were bathrobes in the room but obviously they didn't fit for the bigger size guy like me. And employee in the reception said It's not possible to go to spa without bathrobe. Only the customers who come to enjoy swimming and sauna can go to spa via locker rooms. For hotel customers there was only possibility to go straight to pools. On the breakfast scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc. were gold. And I didn't see anyone to ask about that. When leaving from the hotel I asked in the reception about the breakfast and I got an answer: "We're improving our breakfast and that is not ready yet." I would have understood that if there had been at least one paper on the door of breakfast room to say about that. But there wasn't any information about that. And no one of the hotel employees apologized that. So, all in all. I didn't feel myself so welcome to Holiday Club Caribia so I'm not going to visit there anymore and I don't recommend that hotel for anyone.

Responded 28 Aug 2022
Hello, thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry everything didn't go as planned during your stay at Caribia. There seems to have been an unusually high amount of set backs. I apologize that our front desk staff forgot to explain the route to your presentation. I would like to guarantee non of our front desk staff members sees customers in a bad way if they ask for directions, that's why we're here - to help you and to give advise. Bigger bathrobes can be borrowed from the reception and hotel guests do have a possibility to enter the pools without a bathrobe, either using the hotel guest's door or via the spa reception. You can enter fully clothed and use the dressing rooms. We do advise our guests to enter wearing bathrobes, it is an easier way if coming straight from the hotel room. I apologize for the cold breakfast food. All of the mentioned eatables should be placed in a heating case, unfortunately it seems to have been off or out of order. I'll report the matter to our restaurant manager for a check up. Hopefully you have at least some good memories from staying at us. I warmly welcome you again. Kind regards, Tero Korkeamäki / Service manager, Caribia

for one night the hotel charged me over 300 € and there was no fridge in the room (to be precise, there was a fridge in the room, but the door to this fridge is locked with screws - see the attached photos !!!), stained armchair, damaged furniture and broken floor !!! - see the attached photos !!! For the room I slept in, I should pay a maximum of 70 €. Breakfast prepared the day before - dried baked beans, unsavory scrambled eggs, poor selection! I definitely do not recommend this facility!

Hello, thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry to hear things didn't go as expected during your holiday. Hopefully our reception staff understood your feedback and immediately took care of it concerning the stains and surface problems. We have four different room types in our hotel, of which Superior and Suite rooms include fridges. The room reservation presents what is included in the chosen price. There are no covered up fridges but some technical cabinets are covered with a metal panel which is locked with screws. The few remaining Economy-class rooms are the only room type that didn't get a full make over 6-7 years ago. Our breakfast follow the standards of Holiday Club and is prepared from early in the morning before opening hours. I apologize for the inconvenience these matters brought you. Kind regards, Tero Korkeamäki / Service Manager, Caribia
