The iconic Hamburger Börs has been hosting guests in the best location since 1894 – right in the centre of Turku by the Market Square. The elegantly refurbished hotel will open its doors again in November 2021, providing unforgettable hotel experiences in a modern setting. The new, modern Hamburger Börs provides peaceful accommodation in the hotel’s new annex, where beautifully designed rooms equipped with air conditioning ensure a great night’s sleep. A versatile room selection caters for all needs. Some rooms overlook the Market Square while others face the tranquil courtyard. The spacious top-floor suites feature arched windows with window nooks that invite you to sit back and admire the city life. The new annex on the courtyard side is built in a style respecting the architectural features of the early 20th century. The reception, the airy lobby and the spacious lounge area are located here. The hotel’s versatile restaurant offering can also be found here. The restaurant, heated winter garden and outdoor terrace are on the ground level, while Sky Bar with its large rooftop terrace is located on the 9th floor. A comfortable stay is completed with the stylish relaxation suite and modern gym. The Art Nouveau wing, a protected part of the hotel built in 1885, offers a unique setting for hosting meetings, conferences, banquets and family get-togethers in facilities equipped with modern technology. The hotel is easy to reach with everything close by. Its central location right next to the Market Square near the Aurajoki River ensures good connections, and all the most popular shopping streets, restaurants, cafes and sights are nearby. The hotel has its own garage and there is also a large public garage in the immediate vicinity.

Detailed Reviews
I give this hotel 3 1/2 stars. I stayed for one night on my own before my wedding, and the second night together with my new husband in a suite.
The regular rooms were of a relatively good size and rather tidy with one notable exeption - at least one of the coffee cups in the room had been used and put back, which was icky. For the first night I stayed in a single room on the 2nd floor. As it was Friday, some of the city noise could be heard through the window (drunkards yelling etc.), however I was pleased that the noises from buses right below didn't come through the window. I slept quite ok all in all.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen in a hotel, I really loved it. There was even cake! I would definitely recommend to visit the hotel just for the breakfast. However I can't give the same glowing recommendation to the Börs Katto bar, as the drinks were overly expensive and we personally enjoyed the nearby Walo bar much better (it's also cheaper).
For the second night we stayed in a honeymoon suite. It was large and we were happy that the check out time was at 2 pm, meaning that we could sleep in. But other than the size, it was a pretty standard room, with views from the arched windows onto the market square. The suite came with the option of getting breakfast delivered to the room, but because of the ample breakfast options we chose to eat downstairs. Only one problem, we would have wanted mimosas with our breakfast but were told that this was impossible as the hotel bars were closed (around 11 am on a Sunday). This was strange, as one might think that one of the classiest hotels in Turku would have been able to serve a drink at a weekend breakfast.
Another thing was that it was very difficult to find the suite information online and we were given inconsistent advice on where to book the suite and how. More transparency and easier booking would have been nice.

Hello, Thank you for your comprehensive review. I am glad to hear that your stay went well. I am so sorry about the problems in the room, I will definitely forward you feedback to housekeeping. Your room should be totally clean when you check-in, and I am sorry that the cleaning was lacking. It's so great to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I am sorry to hear that you couldn't get mimosas at the breakfast, there has been a misunderstanding from our side. Even though the restaurant is closed, it is possible to buy sparkling wine from the reception and we'll make you mimosas. I am sorry about this and will inform everyone working at the breakfast so they will know better next time. I really hope that you will visit us again! Best regards, Meri / Reception Scandic Hamburger Börs

The location is great, right next to the market square and close to two bridges for easy access across the Aura river. The main church is a few blocks away, as are most things in the city center. Everything in the city seems to be within an easy walking distance but if you want to use busses to get around know that those all apparently swing by the market square, so again within easy reach. We walked to the castle along the river and took a bus back (paid using ApplePay).
The hotel is elegantly renovated (Nov 2021) and feels brand new despite its long history. The room we had was immaculate, on the 6th floor facing the courtyard (high enough to see the top of the church tower), and it was perfectly air conditioned. The sauna was good: spacious, good temp, even buttons for throwing more water, but no outside access.
Breakfast service was great. On par with the high expectations for a Scandic in terms of selection and quality. The seating area is spacious. The food display area can get a little bit crowded, but despite being a narrowish nook it was easy enough to navigate without bumping into others. Yoghurt, juices, several coffee machines, pancakes, cooked stuff, croissants, etc. Everything you’d expect is there. The only small letdown were the omelettes which were a bit dry both mornings.
In the vicinity I’d recommend the Koulu pub (an old school now turned into a pub with good food too), the Aboa Vetus museum across the river (art and archeological site showing original city conditions), Luostarimäki outdoor museum for a glimpse into historic wooden Turku, and Via Tribunali for great pizza on the river bank by the main church. There’s a lot more to discover too.

Spent here one night in May 2022. Lovely room on 8th floor with view toward hills behind the river. Early checkin at no extra cost. Very nice common areas. Friendly staff. Very comfortable bed and stylish bathroom. Good breakfast with quality products. The only things I missed were salmon, more different fresh bread rolls, larger selection of cut fruits (they only had orange and watermelon slices). Also freshly squeezed orange juice should be offered in this quality of hotel. Parking was 24e a night in hotel parking garage but something went wrong and we got a fine. They sorted this out promptly (apparently the receptionist had forgotten to do something when we paid the parking at checkin).

For the high price we paid for two nights, I was definitely expecting a relaxing hotel weekend, with great sleep and a well-rested feeling as a top priority. But I was disappointed and exhausted when leaving the hotel. The room lighting kept us awake for two nights: the minibar lamp/light sensor was broken, so it kept blinking irregularly throughout the night (not in daylight), and strong light from outdoor lamps behind our window shined from the curtain borders. The staff apologised sincerely for this, and gave a nominal (minimal) fee as a compensation.
The ”easy-wifi” was not very easy.
The breakfast was served in faint, stuffy lighting, so the nighttime tiredness went on.
Positive things: great, modern gym, good breakfast, friendly staff.
I would not visit again.

This legendary Turku hotel has served its guests since 1894. It has been completely rebuilt and there is very little left from the Old Börs. Just a small building with conference facilities.
The Junior Suite category is the best room type. There are eight of them on the 7th floor. The corner suite with three windows (#710) is somewhat bigger than the others. All suites have marketplace views but beware that it is still in construction and not at its prettiest at the moment.
The suites are very stylish and quite practical. The location of the television above the sofa is not the best place. Also, a bathtub would have been nice.
We stayed two nights and the breakfast was pleasant on both mornings. On Friday, we went at 9:20 and on Saturday at 7:00 because of our early departure. The buffet is in a small room and I can imagine that it causes congestion if there are plenty of eaters at the same time. The food selection was wide, the usual Scandic.
Our stay had a quite good value for 194 euros per night. As a Scandic TOP Level member my partner got two 15 euros restaurant vouchers. They could not be used in the restaurant because the restaurant was fully booked for the next two weeks, probably for the sightseeing groups who were exploring the new hotel.

The new and partly renovated Hamburger Börs surprised us though we knew it was said to be something special. It was dazzling - to put it simply. Clean, beautiful, good beds, practical bathroom and shower and one of the best breakfasts we have ever experienced. The only complaint, a minor one, goes to service. Coffee bags in the room were not replaced daily and wine glasses were available in the room only on the first night. And the table that wee reserved in the restaurant was not available when we arrived there. Otherwise service was kind and effective.

It is certainly the best hotel of our long trip in Finland. It occupies almost the entire block in the same Kauppatori (market square) in central Turku.
They gave us the room (room 544) super quiet, with good size and 2 comfortable beds.
Storage space (thanks to other hotels) and a very new toilet with HUGE shower.
Breakfast is served in a huge lounge, although with many guests you have plenty of room to sit freely. Good quantity and quality.
SORRY but we do not remember the name of one of the breakfast workers, from Peru, who was lovely and who received us in Spanish both days thank you so much!
We were also struck by a blackboard where they mark the food that is wasted to make customers aware of taking too much. A very interesting idea for Spanish chains.
The hotel restaurant (MAS) serves Spanish tapas and snacks although the best is undoubtedly the rooftop on the top floor with beautiful views of the city and an infinite sunset. The waiters here are most cheerful in the hotel.
The underground parking of the market square has direct access to the hotel and a fee of € 20 per day. You can walk to many places in Turku. It's the best hotel in town we'll repeat!

This was our third stay at this hotel. This time we booked a Superior Plus room as the Suites were not bookable at the senior rate. However, the corner room we got was as spacious as the suites and had also market square views. The bathroom with a separate shower and tub was even better than in the suites with just a shower.
The hotel was fully booked and the breakfast was very busy. However, we did manage to get a clean table on both mornings. The tables were cleaned effectively and the buffet was replenished so that nothing was finished. However, the placement of the buffet is not the best. It got crowded and it was difficult to get back to your table.
Our stay had excellent value for the paid 149 euros per night. My partner got also two 15 euros restaurant vouchers as a Scandic TOP Level member but no welcome gift this time.

Hotels own Parking lot is exremely small off cource you have the new tori parkki option near but kind of hard to find and you are carrying you luggage. To the hotel.
Reception is fast because there is lot of staff but you can see that staff is still with out experience. As they are asking questions that you normally dont get for example in other scandic Hotels.
Room was clean but the Windows where in terrible condition
the restaurant experience was the really really dispointing . And the reason for grade of this review. hotel that you cant even eat as you are not welcome. As a walk-in Customer .
i wuold understand if you dont take outside guest without reservation but standing hotel guest cant get food in the hotel and half of the tables are empty.
As business traveller i will. Avoid this place. For. 2 simple. Reasons. no easy Parking and no food available .

Hello topiasl2016, thank you for your feedback! Yes, unfortunately it is true that, the hotel parking is small, but we are happy to collaborate with Toriparkki as it can fit a lot of cars. Due to the maintenance still going on at the market square, the hotel's own corridor from Toriparkki to the hotel opened later in the middle of June. Currently we have our own entrance from Toriparkki through a tunnel that comes directly into the hotel basement floor. I am very sorry that there were no availability at the restaurant during your stay. I understand that as a business traveler, it is hard to make plans, but as our restaurant is very popular we recommend that you make a table reservation in advance. I am truly sorry to hear that you do not plan to visit us again, but still hope you change your mind. Best regards, Marttiina, Scandic Hamburger Börs
