The room was simply furnished but clean, comfortable and functional. There was also a fridge in the room but no kettle.
The breakfast, included in the rate, offers a decent choice with a savory and sweet part.
Good value for money.
Definitely recommended
Management later called me to berate me in English telling me it was all my fault.
Had to carry luggage to other hotel and pay for a room.
Still waiting for refund.
I arrived late one evening, since the reception isn't staffed after 7PM I received special instructions as to how to get in and access my room. Everything went to plan and the process was very easy.
The room was spacious and quiet, and it had everything I needed. There was a desk, a TV, a private wash room and 2 single comfortable beds. Wi-fi worked perfectly in my room and was very fast.
Breakfast the next morning was far superior than I expected after reading some of the reviews on here, a good selection of cereals, eggs, bacon, sausages, pastries and decent coffee. The breakfast is served at a cafe on the side of the hotel that is open to the public, you get a voucher to redeem when you enter and you can choose most (not all) of the options available at the buffet. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of tables.
The location of the hotel was perfect for me, right next to the bus terminal (where I caught a bus to Helsinki) and also next to the airport bus stop. There is a McDonald's and petrol station (selling snacks and drinks) opposite and it was only about 10 minutes to walk to the cathedral and waterfront.
The next morning check out was easy, quick and the lady at reception was very pleasant and helpful. They offered luggage storage so as long as you pick up before 7PM then you can explore the city during the day without having to drag your suitcase around.
No negatives I can think of, the reason I stayed at this hotel was because it was one of the most affordable I could find, so with that in mind it was excellent overall.
The reception is only open during the daytime so be sure to inform the hotel if you are arriving late at night. When you check in and get your key card you will be able to come and go as you wish.
The rooms are tidy and nice for the money you pay. We payed 85 € for a twin room for one night while the other hotels would have cost about 150-220 € per night, so we thought the price was very reasonable for two comfortable beds and own bathroom with shower. There was also TV, writing desk, two chairs, a small fridge (no minibar), towels and hair dryer. What else would you even need?
We happened to hear the receptionist serving a foreign businesman in very fluent English. She also mentioned there was a 10 % discount in one of the nearby restaurants for the hotels guests.
The breakfast is included in the price and was served in a restaurant in the hotel. It was very basic but again compared to the price it was more than we expected. There was coffee, tea, juices, porridge, muesli, yogurt, bread, cheese, cuts of meat, vegetables and fruit, meatballs and sausages.
The location of the hotel is ideal for people who arrive with public transport but also the center of the city is within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Even closer you will find a grocery store and a couple of pubs and pizzerias. I would absolutely consider hotel Helmi for my next visit to Turku.
Well located to walk around the city center although not in the very center.
The young lady at the reception when we arrived in the afternoon was extremely kind and professional. Very smiley and she spoke a perfect American English.
I've found not very warm welcoming in some hotels in Finland so I specially appreciate this nice and professional welcoming.
"I believe that all rooms are nice , we had one facing the bus station and it was OK. Also the free parking space just next too it was nice."Read full review
