It faces the ruins of the Holy Trinity Church and on the street in front there is construction work going on for the time being. Parking though was no problem.
The lady at reception, who spoke excellent English, was very friendly and communicative. She also helped us with the luggage by taking us into the antique elevator, whose use is reserved to the staff only since one has to handle a lever inside to make it start. It was quite fun.
Since the hotel closes between 10 and 11pm, one gets with check-in a four-digit code, to be used for a codelock at the backdoor after these hours. On the other hand breakfast gets served already as of 6.30am, which is early for Finland.
My twin bedded room had an attractive design kept in black and white, as most of the hotel. It was also spacious enough and had all one needs. The only negative thing about my stay here was the very bad air coming out of the bathroom, when I opened its door. My suspicion was confirmed by the receptionist, who told me that due to work going on this room hadn't been used for over a month, and obviously nobody has ever opened the bathroom door in all this time. Unfortunately the bad smell of that air also enveloped the bedroom well into the night.
The only international news channel on TV was the French '24 heures' - in English. The free WiFi with a password worked well.
Breakfast was adequate. A buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, but also hard-boiled eggs, cheese, cold cuts, lettuce, red bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and various breads. Available were also plain yoghurt, berry compote, fresh fruit, cornflakes and muesli.
At the hotel restaurant, called 'S.J.Nypper' there is a served lunch and dinner available and when browsing throught the menu card we saw that the choice looked good with 'Grilled Fish of the Day' and many other tasty dishes, but we had already made a reservation at another restaurant.
