I spent one night at the hotel. I booked directly at the hotel's web site. I was given a "family room", but when I checked in I was upgraded to a very comfy business room. The hotel is in the standard of Finnish hotels: clean and functional, but no frills. The personnel was extremely friendly. It is also a sport-friendly place: you can rent a bike (which I did) or even get gym equipment to your room! The breakfast buffet is also good. Excellent vale for money and a pleasant stay!
Located very centrally. Clean. Quiet. Can rent bikes and borrow exercise equipment. The breakfast was the highlight for me. I’m into healthy eating and had so many options from the organic display. Even items such as ginger shots and raw porridge are served. We stayed two nights. Beds are comfy. Enough pillows.Friendly staff. Would return.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had an early checkout so I was too early for breakfast. They arranged a sandwich and a drink to take away for me in the morning, free of charge, which was lovely. The reason I'm giving only 4 stars is because the bathroom was rather dated and needed refurbishing. My shower door was a bit broken and didn't close properly.
Full disclosure: I’ve read some of the other reviews complaining about the high price, when I stayed here I paid a discounted rate so I can’t comment on the normal rates. But what I paid was more than fair. My brother and I traveled to Kokkola from the US, to compete in a strongman competition. My wife and my brother’s girlfriend accompanied us, so we had two hotel rooms. We arrived to Kokkola very late, after 2 AM, but the hotel staff were very accommodating and gave us detailed instructions how to check in and get our room keys, since the hotel was not staffed that late. The rooms were simple but clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was included and I thought it was very good, and there was a lot of food. There were a lot of gluten free and dairy free options as well, which was nice for me. The staff were all very friendly, especially Sari the hotel manager. Her and her dog even came to watch us compete! Overall I had a very good experience at Hotel Kokkola, and if I ever visit Kokkola again I will definitely stay here!…
The room had a table for a laptop and special thanks for the electricity plug on the table for the mobile phone and other rechargeable devices. The breakfast was not as good as I expected. the tables did not provide as much privacy as in the other hotels.
