Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It does what it's supposed to do, which is offer a bed (comfortable), shower (adequate), and breakfast (substantial, varied) for a price that's reasonable for Finland. Check-in past 8 pm requires a message from the hotel with a keycode, and this proceeded well for our group. Upside: the breakfast (06:00-10:00) selection is very good indeed (although the coffee leaves much to be desired), lunch and dinner are available on-site, and the hotel is a 10-minute walk from most anywhere in Kokkola (train station, Centria University of Applied Sciences, Neristan, restaurants) and right next door to a supermarket. The wifi functioned flawlessly for the 5 days we were there. Downside: no individual controls for the heating system in the bedroom (underfloor heating in the bathroom is controllable) - but this was not even an inconvenience as fortunately the system was not set to be too hot/cool.

Needed some place to sleep between home and Lapland. Had business class room on the first floor. Quite basic, age of the hotel and room can be seen. Doors make some noise when closed so you can hear when someone else goes to his room. Buffet breakfast was quite nice. Free parking, close to city center.

Hotel Nukkumatti is slightly aged but clean place to stay over. Walking distance to city center and supermarket just across the street. We had the "delux" room with privat sauna, which was nice. However, careful on Sundays you will need to do breakfast on your own cause there is no service personell available. You will need to cook coffee on your own and all food is in several fridges. Not what I expected when booking this hotel "including breakfast".

Good value for money. The staff at the reception was friendly and because we were a bit early, they upgraded our room for free so that we didn't have to wait for our room to be cleaned. The room was clean and had everything we needed, and we had a nice view to the park. The breakfast was good and there were also gluten free options available. The exterior of the hotel may be a bit confusing, because it's located in the same building with a gas station. Luckily the rooms are more cosy than you would guess from the outside. And the location is good, only a short walk to railway station and to the centre. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I have just left the Hotel Nukkumatti. We had a good 3 night stay in the deluxe room with a sauna. I had my reservations about booking this hotel after some negative reviews, but really glad we stayed here as the hotel was located conveniently in central Kokkola with walking distance to the local shops, and only a couple of miles from the nearest beaches. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, and I would recommend the lunch buffet which was fresh fish and salad. They had a choice of Finnish delicacies and fresh bread for breakfast in the buffet. The beds were comfortable and the sauna in the room was great! The only downside to our stay was being opposite the gym where we were woken early by lots of noisy children as there was no door to the gym. If they put a door there that would stop the guests in nearby rooms from being woken up. Nice to have a Dolce Gusto coffee machine in the room :-)

Close to railway station, a few blocks from the centre. The reception was a bit hidden, we came in through the back door. Friendly helpful staff, in the weekend the hotel was half-empty, so a quiet night, comfortable twin bed, although an empty (BYO?) mini bar was noisy. Breakfast OK, mini croissants excellent.

The hotel is located next to a gas station, with a burger restaurant attached. The rooms are awful, they are worn out and have broken beds. Cleaning was non existant. It was a terrible stay. I cant recomend this hotel to anybody. Please avoid at any cost.

I stayed at this hotel on my way up to Lapland. It's a great hotel if you aren't expecting anything from a 5 star hotel. They are clean and affordable, two of the biggest things I was looking for in a hotel. Great location for what I needed, right by a mall/shopping area. Free wifi was awesome. Room had mini fridge which came in handy. The bed was extremely comfortable. Didn't take advantage of the free breakfast but it smelled delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I am ever in that region of Finland.

The hotel is adjacent to a gas station, pretty close to the railway station. I didn't expect the reception to be found next to the gas station cafe, but there it was. The rooms are small, bare and neat. Nothing to make you feel particularly comfortable. If you only need to sleep for a night there, it's ok. The reception closes at 10 pm, and so does the cafeteria. There's nothing available before morning. But it's cheap.

I was staying in the hotel one night in the August 2011. We were on a game day trip in the city. We just wanted a place to crash and to hit the showers after lacrosse game. This place was ok for all we wanted. Beds, fridge, working showers and sauna downstairs. Breakfast wasn't any special but it filled it's purpose. Service on the hotel was excellent. We were able to use sauna after hours for free, also coming back for showers after next-morning game was no problem even though we had already checked out. Superb! I wouldn't stay here if I was travelling with my spouse. For friends, it's ok as long as you're prepared for motel, not hotel.
