Excellently situated for those who are visiting the University of Jyvaskylä Department of Physics. In addition, the hotel is just beside a beautiful lake. But the rooms are so tiny that they are definitely not suitable for claustrophobics. However, there was a pleasant surprise in the form of instant coffee available in the room - it was the best cup of instant coffee I have ever had.

Hi EijaMaija, Thank you for your views of our hotel. It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. The lake area and the Ylistö bridge can be quite spectacular, especially in the evening. The bridge lights is just recently renewed and we enjoy them very much. Some of the rooms are tiny. The economy single is only 11m2 but because of the low rate - very popular too. My favourites are the standard rooms and JrSuites. Both of them are availalable with lakeside view and JrSuite has a private sauna.... even from the steam room you can see the lake! Thanks again for you short review - we hope to see you again in the future, * With best regards, Tommi S

The location of this hotel is perfect for relaxing after long days in a conference. The views over the lake if you choose to sit and enjoy them are stunning at any time of day. I also hired a bike one evening and enjoyed cycling around the lake in the late summer sunshine. The hotel has a good restaurant with a wide choice of fresh local food for breakfast and this is include din the room rate. I also enjoyed a tasty club sandwich with a nice glass of house wine one evening and it was good value. I had a simple basic room which had a good shower and a kettle and hairdryer were provided. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Greetings terimac63, Thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Great! You are so right about the surroundings. Even though the summer is over, the dark autumn nights are very beautiful and the Ylistö bridge right next to us is now light up with beautiful and artsy lights. Thanks again for your visit and hopefully - we'll meet again! With best regards Finlandia Hotelli Alba

Overall the stay was without problems - comfortable, with decent wifi, a great breakfast, and all the needed additions. The room was very small - no room to move around, but nonetheless with bed, cabinets, separate bathroom (also small), desk and TV. The view over the lake is beautiful. The location is a bit outside of the downtown, but is directly across a pedestrian bridge to the university and a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown and the convention center along the shore of the lake (beware of rollerbladers and bikers). Breakfast was great, with the standard fare plus Finnish/Scandanavian foods like muesli and porridge. Vegetarian burgers seem to be a specialty in Finland, and the burger at the hotel restaurant was great.

Hi E_Donald_Stein, Thank you for your review and for the picture too. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. The room you visited is our economy room and it's the smallest that we have - but also the second most requested too because of the inexpensive rate. The room size is only 11m2 and we recommend it for shorter visits. For more space we recommend to reserve standard, superior or the JrSuites. . The air-conditioning is working through out the hotel and in Superior and JrSuite rooms you can adjust it yourself. Lake view is in Standard and JrSuite rooms - and especially in the summer: it is spectacular! Thanks again for visiting and for the review We hope to see you again, With best regards,

Stayed here for two nights for the Finnish Air Force 100th Anniversary Air Show just up the road at Tikkakoski. We booked a junior suite which comes with a living area and a sauna off the bathroom. The lake view is amazing, we ate in the restaurant one evening which was very good. It's an easy walk along the lake front to the harbour and then turn left and walk into town. The second night we ate in town as the restaurant has a limited menu and we'd had tries the items that interested us. Breakfast choice was good but identical both days, also room cleanliness needs improving which is why it didn't get an excellent rating.

Hi SugarloafView, Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. The Airshow was great! And lots of people visiting Jyväskylä too for those lovely, sunny days. Yes the Alba a La Carte menu: It includes seasonal dishes and ingredients that are fresh and available from local producers. We try to build it the way that it is tempting and meets our guests needs. It's great if you found a suitable dinner place for the second night: Jyväskylä has lots to offer these days. Thanks for the feedback about the cleaning, I will see that this info will reach the floor manager. They are doing a very good job - but looks that in your room - we did not quite reach our goals. Thanks again for visiting and we hope to see you soon again, With best regards,

Medium sized, relatively modern hotel near the end of the big lake. Next to pedestrian bridge across the lake to the university. The place for visitors to the university to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful, everyone speaks English, signs in Finnish and English. Medium sized rooms, excellent breakfast buffet. Sauna facilities (of course) but here you can actually jump into the lake from the hotel dock as part of the ritual. Separate hours for men and women are posted. The lobby, bar and restaurant all merge together so this area is usually busy. Not so much close by, its about a 20 minute walk along the lake shore to the train station and center of town.

Hi David M. Thank you for your review. It sounds that your visit met your expectations. Great! We are happy that among other pointers you mentioned us as "relatively modern hotel". It's no secret that we have been renovating the standard rooms, lobby area, restaurant toilets and the meeting rooms. We started it 2016 and finished this spring. It's great to hear the efforts have been noticed. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon again, With best regards,
