Detailed Reviews
Booked Omena Hotel for 5 nights as a budget stay for a business trip.
It is in a convenient location very close to the centre of town and not far from the train station.
The code to enter was emailed to me the day before arrival. This is the code to get through the gate, into the building and into the room.
The communal spaces were clean and easy to navigate.
The room itself was very basic but suited me as I was not using the room other than to sleep! The room was comfortable enough and everything worked. The blinds did a wonderful job of blocking out the 24 hour daylight! There was a microwave which was handy although I only used it once.
Overall, great budget accommodation for Jyvyskyla for single travellers. With more than one person in the room it could be small, but manageable if you are just using the room as a base to explore beautiful Jyvyskyla.

The code to enter the hotel is emailed on the day before check-in, which is at 4pm, not one minute earlier. When entering the building you enter the same code four times until you enter the room.
The room had one small fridge, a microwave, two towels (I stayed for five nights), one liquid hand/body soap/shampoo, some coffee/tea packs and a kettle. Since everything is automated, there is no luggage storage or early/late check-in/check-out. Or room cleaning during one’s stay. The shower has a push button for the water and the water stops coming out after a while. So we have to keep on pushing the button to get water.
For my stay, everything worked. I didn’t spend a lot of time in my room and the location, close to everything in downtown Jyvaskyla, is good. On Friday night I could hear the music from the club I could see from my room but it didn’t bother me too much. It is not possible to open the window so it is not recommended to put anything in the bin that would smell.
But I also wonder if something happens, the lack of a manned reception might be a problem. So if you need a receptionist to solve your issues, this is not a place to stay. Other than that, it’s quite practical and the price is not too bad for Jyvaskyla.

The room was too small. There was no room to walk around.
We booked a room for 4 people, it had one actual bed and two sofa beds...
The cleaning service was poor.
The AC didn’t work.
We don’t recommend this hotel
