This hotel is right in the heart of town. It has free parking and a good breakfast. The room was very small for 2 adults (twin beds) but the beds were clean and comfy and the bathroom was good. Checking in was a little tricky as we had to notify via e-mail when we would be arriving as no-one was at reception. That is fine IF you know what time you will arrive - we were driving and stopped at various places - and IF you have WI-FI and phone connection. We only had that by buying a Finnish SIM card. But, once we got in touch the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want a hassle free hotel and check in, I suggest don't go here. But it is fine, once you get in!
This is a wonderful, small, hotel on one floor of a building, just a block west of the pedestrian street. There are only 9 rooms on the floor. Our room had two comfortable beds, a nice sized bathroom with shower, and a kitchen equipped with refrigerator, tea/coffee, a microwave and two burners. The included breakfast offered cereal, breads, cheese, meats, eggs, salad, fruit and yogurt. The price is inexpensive and the staff is friendly and helpful. Even though it was full, it was quiet as well. Would definitely stay here again.
Very clean, well-mantained mini-hotel. Situated in residential house on the 3rd floor. Just for 9 rooms, very quiet and peaceful. Modest enough breakfast, decent and tasty. Every room is equipped with kitchen section. Room, public area, conveniences - all are clean and neat. Guess either new or very well-kept indeed. Polite, welcoming, very helpful staff. Big advantage is location, right in the center of the town, suitable place to stay for a few days. For a couple, the room space, in my subjective opinion, is small a bit, but it depends on size of both spouses. Anyway, if there will be occasion to come back, i choose this hotel as a price was quite reasonable.
Our second night was much better after we moved to room 9 on the opposite side of the corridor, away from the noise of the street and the hot morning sun beating through the windows. Room 3 also had a celing fan that went round and round but the blades had not been properly angled, so we got no cooling breeze at night. I hope they fix that. We've been in cheap Indian hotels with better cooling fans at night! The Finns obviously know how to design buildings to withstand arctic winter temperatures, but they don't deal with increasingly hot summers so effectively. It was 24° at midnight in our room. It was 30° during the day and we went swimming at a lovely lake beach, walking distance from Hotel Kampus. The rooms are immaculately clean and have a fridge and cooking facilities. Breakfast is provided in the corridor and you can sit there or return to your room to eat it. The corridor, with its outward opening doors and total lack of character, feels like a hospital or prison. The hotel is on the third floor (second if you are British or Australian) and there is a lift. It is towards the end of the street with the pedestrian mall. About 15 - 20 minutes walk from the train and bus station. Reception closes at 7.00pm.…
If you like plush luxurious hotels, read no further. However, if you like value for money and clean unassuming lodgings, this is for you. It has the air of student accommodation but is clean and tidy. You enter it through a doorway off the top of the main street and then up to the 3rd floor (there's a lift). There are only 9 rooms, as I recall, but they are well equipped with even a little kitchen corner (microwave, 2 ring cooker, fridge, cultery, crockery). I was there during a heatwave and the fridge was a boon. There's heating and air conditioning. The furnishings are not new (at least when I was there) but they are clean and adequate. Breakfast is included in the price and is put out in the corridor. You just help yourself, eating either there or back in your room. It's the usual north European breakfast (eggs, ham, salami, cheese, bread, yoghurt, cereals tea, coffee) and is perfectly fine. Although it's on the main shopping street, I didn't find it noisy - perhaps because you're a few steps beyond the main shops, bars and restaurants. In summer, take an eye mask as it never gets properly dark! Staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended if this is the sort of accommodation you are seeking.…
