Whatever brings you to Helsinki, Klaus K Hotel welcomes you to the heart of the city where the old Art Nouveau buildings meet the modern Scandinavian life style. The hotel’s design is inspired by Finland’s national epic, Kalevala. Throughout the hotel’s interior there are small details that bring you to the world of Finnish folklore and mythology. Mystique, passion, desire, and envy are themes that have inspired Kalevala stories as well as us. Klaus K Hotel is the first Lifestyle Preferred hotel in Helsinki. Some of our very unique rooms are created in collaboration with the most famous Finnish contemporary artists.

This hotel has 8 balcony rooms on the 7th floor. One is a Sky Suite and the others are Sky Balcony rooms. In the summertime, the balcony suite is not for sale. Sky Terrace bar is extended to its balcony. We stayed for two nights and booked our Sky Balcony room already in December. The sale price was 135 euros per night. The normal price is around 250 euros. The sale price was not prepaid and the reservation could be canceled. The breakfast was included. I had asked for a room with a bathtub. I knew that at least one Sky Balcony room #708 has a big round bathtub and a separate rain shower. We stayed there three years ago. This hotel has not many rooms with a bathtub or at least a separate shower. All three Sky Suites have those and Sky Balcony room #708. One change we noticed in the room. The room had got a small dining table with two chairs. Probably for the takeaway breakfasts that have been so common during this pandemic. First I was impressed and thought the table would be an ideal place for my laptop because there was also a power outlet nearby. However, the table was too high or the chairs too low for the ergonomics. Even three pillows on the chair didn't help. I had to move to the sofa. This #708 had the same problem as three years ago. The air conditioning is working very lazily. Although set to +19, in the morning the temperature was barely under +25. What was strange when opening the balcony door in the morning, the temperature raised to +26,5 although it was +20 outside and the room temperature felt much cooler. Probably the thermostat is broken and should be replaced. There was a fan in the wardrobe but installing it in a way that it would have been blowing in the direction of the bed was impossible. Also what made the sleeping quite uncomfortable were the ultrathin pillows. We have never seen so thin pillows anywhere. Probably it is better to offer two or three different sizes that everyone can find a suitable one. The breakfast was quite enjoyable although we didn't recognize the meat station on the first morning. It had been moved to a new position three stairs up to a place where has previously been tables. Friday morning was pleasantly calm. Saturday morning was more crowded. Luckily we came five minutes earlier than our prebooked breakfast slot and it was easy to find a clean table.

Hotel's Favourite
This time we booked a Desire room from 'Two nights for the price of one' sale. The price was 72,50 euros per night. The rate was flexible and included breakfast. As a Nordic Choice Platinum member, my goal was to get an upgrade to the next room category that is an Envy room and asked for a bay window to Bulevardi street. To our surprise, we got a bay window but the room was three categories upward. The room type was a Sky Loft room that has a normal price of 245 euros per night. I think our room is the only Sky room with a bay window. Above on the 7th floor is a Sky Suite that has a bay balcony. The views from the bay window were panoramic. We could see the whole Bulevardi street and the Clarion Hotel behind it. On the other side is the Swedish Theater, Esplanadi Park, and Helsinki Cathedral behind the park. The room decor is very modern and the same in every Sky room. Our room had a dining table for two. It was very practical for the takeaway breakfast. At the moment, there is a restaurant lockdown in most of Finland and only takeaway meals are possible. The hotel offers also room service dinners from two restaurants: Toscanini and Pastis. Menus could be found in the room. The takeaway breakfast was handled very well. Pre-filled paper bags were fetched from the breakfast room. Inside the bags, you found a varied selection of food.

In the heart of Helsinki. Upon my arrival friendly wellcoming and professional touch for selling an upgrade which l gladly agreed. Average breakfast, clean tidy room with a bath tab, small fridge ( empty ) and a safetybox. Had a Double room with the view to the Bulevard-street on the 4th floor, well insulated windows so hardly any noise from the vividly trafficated street ( cars, bus, tram). Hotel has good policies for recycling, saving sources and supporting sustainebility. Pick up from reception the daily hygiene products you need, all more or less sustainable and fragrance free if you choose so. You alsohave to pick up bath slippers and a bath robe from the reception. Hardly any space for clothes and no space for a suitcase... A warm recommendation providing you don’t have any demands of esthetical beauty, this room leaves space for hopes in regard of interior design. It was the ugliest room l’ve ever had with 8 (!!) different types of colors and patterns, none of them matching each others -> Had to ask for a room change.
