Enjoyed a 4 night stay mainly to watch the UEFA Supercup match.

Was given room 807 on the 8th floor, what a fantastic view over the water, park and in the distance could see the Olympic Stadium Tower.

The room was very comfortable, nice comfortable double bed, large tv, fridge, usual kettle, ironing items, digital safe and slippers/housecoats.

I plugged in my Amazon firestick to the hdmi port on the tv so then had access to Netflix/Amazon video etc The wifi was very strong.

Breakfast in the morning was plentiful with a good selection of items, the morning after the uefa match myself and I think many others slept in, I went down at 0930 and was difficult to find a seat for breakfast however the staff working done a fantastic job in clearing tables and keeping fresh food available, big well done to them!

Hotel location is just out of the main area but only two stops on the metro and your in the main train station, or the bus outside take you in too. Outside the hotel there’s always been plenty of these e-scooters which are handy to ride to the metro station or for me to hesburger! There’s also a small supermarket across from the hotel for stocking up snacks etc

For transportation I downloaded the HSL app so bought tickets using the app, also I used Uber/Bolt apps for taxis. If you use Bolt then use my referral “RONNIEKPZ” I used bolt from the hotel to the airport and cost was €25 that was because I was a new user. Handy if you have heavy lugguge!

Great overall experience. It's worth trying to book a room with the beautiful lake view. Checkin and checkout experiences were smooth. Breakfast options are decent but could be improved (eg. Omelette, waffles choices), overall still nice. For those who would not want the heavy hotel buffet breakfast, there are also other options to pick up simple coffee and breakfast bites from places at the metro station nearby. The place could get busy during peak season and helpful to confirm with front desk. Based on room availability, checkout time can be extended for an additional fee.
The hotel location is great, especially during the non-winter months, when one can walk around easily. Metro station (Ruoholahti) is around 5 minutes casual walk, with a tram stop nearby. The first metro stop towards the city gets you to Kamppi, which is in the city centre. You can easily buy travel day passes (that allows you to use all public travel options) from R-Kioski store at the metro station (small service charge when you buy the tickets from the store, instead from the ticket vending machine). There are also pretty big KCityMarket and SMarket stores, and a few fast food options (Burger King, Hess Burger) nearby. There's a bus stop near the hotel as well. For those interested in longer walks, there's a walking path that could be taken along the nearby waterfront to the beach (around 20-25 minutes).
All in all, this hotel is a great option for those comfortable not being in the city centre but still very nearby and well connected.

Typical good service from a Holiday Inn: check-in fantastic, all information provided, nice room with both Euro and USB power points not only on the desk but against the bedside and a nice view out over the Seurasaari bay. This particular Holiday Inn use a keycard to activate not just room power but also the lifts.

I ate in the restaurant that evening. The meal (a Caesar salad minus the Caesar dressing) wasn't bad, a bit dry, but there were a noticeable absence of waitresses patrolling the restaurant. I ate out other evenings after that.

I had recently found myself a guest at the Hotel Holiday Inn Helsinki West, an experience I regretfully report was far from enjoyable. It is a disappointment when a brand with a solid reputation for providing satisfactory accommodations around the globe fails in such a spectacular fashion.

The moment I checked in, the nightmare began. The reception staff seemed to be auditioning for the roles of villains in a grim drama, with their curtness and brusque attitude putting a dark cloud over my arrival. The promise of the warm Finnish hospitality remained a dream as I received none of the welcoming smiles or attentive service that I expected.

My grievances did not stop there. Upon entering my room, I was greeted by an environment that bore closer resemblance to a low-budget hostel than a reputed hotel room. The room was unkempt and gave off a strange, unsettling odor that clung stubbornly despite attempts to air it out. Despite complaints, the hotel staff seemed uninterested in resolving these issues.

Furthermore, when it came to pricing, the hotel seemed to be practicing a bait and switch tactic. The price quoted on third-party booking websites such as Booking.com and Trivago was notably lower than what was charged upon arrival. This not only left a bitter taste but also raised questions about the transparency of their booking process.

The dining experience was the final nail in the coffin of my horrendous stay. The sirloin steak, a dish that should be tender and juicy, was rendered into a dry, tasteless slab of meat. Accompanying it, the potatoes appeared to have been cooked in the Dead Sea, their salinity reaching alarming levels.

Regrettably, my experience at Hotel Holiday Inn Helsinki West was as undesirable as one could imagine. This hotel was a glaring blemish on my trip to Helsinki and a stark contrast to the otherwise welcoming and pleasant city. The combination of poor service, substandard room conditions, misleading pricing, and unpalatable food make it a place I would caution against staying at.

I believe in second chances and improvements. However, unless a radical revamp in quality and service delivery is made at Hotel Holiday Inn Helsinki West, I'm afraid my recommendation can only be to seek accommodations elsewhere.

Holiday Inn Helsinki West is situated on the outskirts of the city center. The hotel is almost next to Ruoholahti Metro Station (the subway) and the small Ruoholahti Shopping Center. It is only a short walking distance to the beautiful Ruoholahti Canal pedestrian zone.

I stayed in a basic room and it really is quite basic as the name says. My room was very functional but there wasn't any extra there. Body lotion wasn't available. My sleep quality was very good thanks to sound proofed windows. However, it would be nice to stay in a bit better room sometimes.

Public areas are renovated, beautiful and fresh colored in the hotel. There are many interesting details there. The breakfast was good. I especially loved mudcake!

Service is always kind in this hotel. This is a good mid-range hotel.

Will I recommend the hotel? Yes
I had a choice between Scandic or Radisson. I chose IHG and was not disappointed.

Location:
Access: Metro, walking to the hotel, bus 21, night bus 21N Or on foot from the center, which took us about 25min.

Service.
The calm atmosphere, the cleanliness and friendly staff.

Room:
Large, spacious.
Comfortable beds - 2 separate.
Equipment: kettle, coffee, tea, iron, ironing board – we used it.
You can't open the windows – I understand security considerations.
Air conditioning – can be adjusted, you can’t turn off.

Breakfast:
Very good! Everyone will find something for themselves.
What I liked: herring, porridge, cheese, bread, you can exchange further.
But what impressed me! Pturnip beet balls / please recipe /.
What I did not like: scrambled eggs.
Breakfast rating 9/10.

Sauna:
Opened 18:00 – 23:00.
Separately for ladies and gentlemen.
Nobody was there, we had our own private sauna. Thank you!
Towels are in place, only what I would add water.

Modernised Holiday Inn which was one of the cheapest mainstream chain hotels in Helsinki. The rooms were clean & relatively quiet if you’re facing away from the busy highway behind the hotel. Breakfast was really good and had good healthy choices including gluten free section. The hotel is not in the city centre but only 2 metro stops from the central station. It is then only a 5 minute walk to the hotel. It is also a 15-20 minute walk to the ferry terminal where you can catch the 2hr ferry ride to Tallinn which hold def recommend you doing if you have a spare day in Helsinki.

We stayed 4 nights, the staff is very nice and kind but the hotel is dirty. The room is dusty and the bathroom was not properly clean, i went to the supermarket and cleaned myself. Especially during/right after a pandemic you expect better than this. Breakfast was nice, many choices, but then I found bugs in the salad. Also we asked for the fixed price taxi to the airport and they reserved the one without it… so we paid double the price. We used to come here years ago but we’re definitely not coming back.

Dear valued guest Culture30729344374, Thank you for your stay and for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Holiday Inn HELSINKI - WEST RUOHOLAHTI. I do thank you so much for taking this time to share your opinion and pointing out the areas of success and failure as well in order to improve our services for the future. I do apologize deeply that we failed in meeting all your expectations especially when it comes to cleanliness, breakfast salad and the taxi ordering procedures. Our aim is to serve as well as we possible can. This is not how we want to continue at all. We have indeed placed a sign in all the rooms that if you are unhappy please let us know right away and we'll fix it for you right there and then even during the night time or we upgrade you to another room instead free of charge. Our housekeepers are here daily to clean and it is always best to report such things soonest possible to the reception. Salad is delivered fresh to our restaurant and it is washed every day by us before having it placed on the table. Hoping you reported this as well to the waiters working at the time. We shall have a look at this as well with our kitchen team. All taxi companies in Helsinki now have fixed prices, some from the airport only to Helsinki city for example Taxi Helsinki gives you a fixed rate at 35eur max 4 persons when you take the taxi directly from the lane 2 at the airport (no advance booking possibility) and some other companies have both ways to/from for example Airport taxi offers day time price 45eur one way and night time 55eur one way. Before corona time years ago Yellow taxi picked up people from many Helsinki hotels during its way to the airport and had cheap prices but this is no longer valid I'm afraid. So sorry that we have not informed you about this at the time of the booking in case you asked about the price. Hoping you are able to forgive us and have faith in us again in the future. It is lovely to hear that you liked our staff friendliness and want to share this with us too. Hoping you’ll have more successful experiences also within Holiday Inn hotels & resorts worldwide in the future. Welcome back again at your convenience. Sincerely yours,

I stayed two nights and had great dinners at the hotel restaurants. The hotel is silent and nice. The beds feel good and the toilets and showers are nice size. Also suitable for handicaps. The hotel has a small parking hall and another is also available near by. Free wifi.
The food at the restaurant is tasty and the staff is nice. Quite good connections to the nearby city centre

In Finland it's totally safe and better tasting water coming from tab, you can use it. If you want you can buy water from grocery store next to metro station ( actually there is small shopping center) in way into hotel.
