Quality of rooms „Equipment“ reduced to a cheap standard. Breakfast is quite good. Big advantage: near train station, and in the center of the Town. And that drives the price - the location. I will choose another hotel next time

We booked a Superior room for a stay in 2020, but we had to cancel our trip to Finland because of Covid-19 regulations and laws, and our flights were cancelled by the airline. First attitude from the Scandic hotel was “no changes no refunds”, which were the booking terms in a “normal situation”. After several emails and angry messages to the hotel manager, they agreed to change the dates once. We managed to rebook Scandic Simonkenttä 03-07/09/21. On arrival the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was excellent good variety to choose from. Location is great, near everything. Our first given room was untidy and very dusty. After complaining at the reception, we were given another room, which wasn't so untidy but still very dusty. Back to the reception, and there the attitude changed, someone dared to complain. A hotel (possibly) duty manager was sent to the second room, where I met him and noticed that he couldn't care less, the room was clean enough for him, it was take it or leave it situation. We also had arranged to meet people, so we agreed that the second room was to be cleaned again and we were supposed to get a call when this was done. That call came never came, only found out when I went back to the reception. End of the day, the room didn't have it's second clean. The room was on the fifth floor facing towards the square. One could hear the trams go by other side and if someone was shouting in the square, we could hear it. First night until 2am someone on the square tested their sound equipment for the following day happening and that kept us awake. Bad soundproofing! Scandic Hotels is stating on their website, how they have rigorous procedures and routines in place at all their hotels regarding enhanced cleaning, which definitely wasn't the case when we were staying in Scandic Simonkenttä. Also in the restaurant when having the breakfast, many times we had to get new cutlery as some weren't clean enough to use. It is pandemic time, Covid-19, rooms should be cleaned properly, not just to state that on hotel website. We have used Scandic Hotels in Helsinki before and been happy to stay there, but this trip put us off, next time in another more caring hotel (chain).

Very nice hotel in the city center. We had a family room with a very nice view. The breakfast was very good although I missed some filter coffee, there was only a coffee machine. We will definitely go there again.

Short and pleasant stay at Simonkentta, The property location was awesome as everything is just a quick walk away like central railway station, Kaampi, City Center and many more. The hotel staff are very helpful and explained in detail. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. I loved the breakfast as there are multiple options for non-veg even though I am vegetarian but found quite good stuff to eat and I would definitely book for my next trip and also recommend this property to everyone....

At first, the staff was very friendly and helped me so nothing to complain there. Breakfast was also excellent. And location is great, near everything. But then the room. We booked superior rooms wich didn't have everything listed at hotels website. For example there was no conditioner or bathropes. The rooms were in fourth floor and you can here the trams go by and the blinds do not close all the way so the Kamppi shopping center neons lights up the room all night. And there were dust in various spaces. But the nastiest thing were in wall of the other rooms shower. Some body hair and something else, don't want to think what it was. They gave me other room but there was a telly that didn't work so well, it shut down every 10 minutes when my daughter tried to watch it in the morning.
