Scandic Simonkenttä enjoys a central location that consistently earns praise for its convenience to transport and local attractions. While many travelers appreciate the hotel's modern atmosphere and welcoming vibes, some have noted disturbances from bar noise. The rooms garner mixed reviews, with comfort highlighted by some guests, but others pointing out cleanliness concerns. Service is generally seen as attentive, though occasional lapses are mentioned. Guests recognize good value, particularly appreciating the breakfast, despite some additional charges. Cleanliness throughout the hotel, however, has been reported as inconsistent.

I had a great stay at a Scandic hotel in a vibrant part of town! The location was perfect, right in the middle of all the action, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and local sights.

The rooms were comfortable and well-kept, with a nice touch of free hot drinks in the room, which made it feel even more welcoming. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful, always ready with a smile and some great local tips.

Breakfast was a good variety of options to start the day off right. Overall, this hotel offers great value and service in an exciting area. I’d happily stay here again!

Stayed for one night from Sunday til Monday, and luckily got an upgraded room from standard to superior. Big, comfy room with nice view and good bed.

The only "not so good" was that the restaurants at the hotel were all closed because of Sunday, so we had to go to the city to search for good food.

Thank you for your lovely feedback! We want to surprise our customers and you were one of the lucky ones on that day! Great to hear that the superior room was a success and you enjoyed staying in our hotel. Our restaurant is having a day off on Sunday like most of the other restaurants in the area. We will always do our best to help you finding another restaurant, so you can just come to the reception and ask for advises and help. Hopefully we will meet again! A short walk (slightly uphill) from central train station (€4.1 from airport) one reaches hotel with three persons on reception hence check in just matter of minutes. Location of convenience includes tram stop right outside entrance, taxis plentiful and lift to Kemppi shopping mall makes life just so easy. Room was little on small size but having door open into the corridor really clever. Pity room had no facility for coffee/tea, which would have saved some money (€3 for tea in lobby). Had to keep other half happy! Room was practical with a swing shower door, an interesting space saver. The design of bed allows conversion from double to single with two duvets provided. Comfortable nonetheless. Breakfast had plenty of choice. No complaints. Very busy place. Seems breakfast popular start to day. Liked security for lift with use of key card even from shopping mall. Pretty impressed with location to see nearby sites. Would I stay again. Yes. Impression left with was willingness and helpfulness of reception to help store bags, allowing more enjoyment in afternoon walking before leaving Helsinki.

Hello Atcg! Thank you very much for your absolutely amazing review and detailed feedback. We are happy to hear that the central location of our hotel, with its possibilities with public transportation were to your liking and that you overall enjoyed our services, facilities and that out staff here in the reception were to your liking! Unfortunately there is not kettle in the standard rooms, only on the superior room categories and upper ones, but you can always rent it from the reception for 5€, if you please. We are truly flattered of your positive feedback and hopefully we can welcome you back here in the Scandic Simonkenttä in the future as well. Have a lovely weekend! As the tram passes in front of the hotel, the sound resonates depending on the location of the room. I stayed in a standard twin, but no bathtub. The poor shower enclosure causes the floor to flood. The refrigerator doubles as a minibar. Breakfast is a little crowded.
It is only a tram stop from Hauptbahnhof, but it is also possible to walk. The ferry terminal to Tallinn is by tram. Next door is the bus terminal. There are many supermarkets in the neighborhood and the Kampi Chapel is right next door. With such a location and facilities, it is relatively reasonable in Helsinki, where hotel prices are high.

There were nothing in the bathroom, no shampoo, lotion and other things which are usually in the hotels of this level. There were no kettle and tea/coffee in the room, just a minibar with high prices and the iron which was not necessary.
The breakfast was good and location is perfect, just some minutes to walk to all the sightseeings and to the railway station, tram stops nearby also. The room was big enough for two and there was no noise, very good isolation between the rooms.

In all the rooms we do have shampoo, soap etc. Disposable slippers are no longer included in eco label -Scandic hotels. I stayed here for four nights for a work conference. The hotel was recommended by the conference, but I highly suggest staying somewhere else. Upon my arrival, I was shocked to find menstrual blood on the tiles of the shower and mold growth in the shower corners and tile crevices. Despite raising concerns with the hotel staff, the room was never properly cleaned - the whole time!

I was shocked to realize that cleaning is not done at all during guest stays. This is not part of their policy, but maybe just how the hotel operates?

No part of the bathroom, including the sink or the trash were cleaned / emptied. Further - and perhaps most annoying / stressful during a work trip - is I was never provided with clean cups / mugs. Every morning I would bring down my dirty dishes to the breakfast buffet for them to be cleaned the kitchen staff.

After writing multiple emails, I finally just approached a member of the front desk staff after my conference presentation. She was a new employee still in training, but she kindly came up to collect all the dirty dishes and provide me with new ones. I requested that she escalate this but I never heard back from the hotel.

All I can say, is that I'm happy I was so busy with the conference that I didn't have to be in my hotel room long... Don't stay here.

Dear Arden Ellis, Thank you for the feedback. I am so sorry to hear, that your stay didn't go as you excepted. Regarding the stayover cleaning we are working to find more sustainable ways to provide cleaning services during a stay. Scandic’s ambition is for all hotels operating under the Scandic brand to be certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Scandic Simonkenttä has achieved the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. At minimum, all hotels must comply with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel limit values for energy consumption per square meter, unsorted waste, water consumption and ecolabeled chemicals for cleaning, laundry and washing dishes. From Scandic's web page you can find more information of our vision and strategy. We take your feedback seriously in order to further develop our services. Hopefully you will give us another chance to prove that we can do better. Best regards, Wilhelmiina / Duty Manager Scandic Simonkenttä

By mistake I made two reservations for the same dates and the same person (me alone). Both reservations were cancelable up until check-in time, which was reported to hotel staff upon arrival. I asked the reception staff to do everything necessary to cancel the second reservation and avoid double payment. I was promised it and I was at peace. But on the day of departure I discovered that the hotel had no problem charged twice the payment for the same room and at check-out time I spent 30 minutes trying to resolve this problem. The reception staff were completely uncooperative and incompetent, nothing was resolved. For the regulation remained double, which I find unfair and incorrect.

We stayed the week beginning Oct 1, 2024 in room 419. The hotel is in the city center and has easy access to many sites. The room faced a large plaza. During that week, every night a very large LED billboard that I could see on the left from our window flashed off and on until exactly 1 AM every night, then the flashing stopped (but the billboard was still brightly lit) until exactly 6AM, and then it restarted. I could not shut our curtains well enough to stop the flashing lights getting in and lighting the room. Try sleeping to that. Also, I believe it was from a lounge/bar, called the Monkey Bar, on the top floor that played loud music until 3 AM most of the nights we were there. I didn’t hear the music, but the drumming/base travelled through the walls into our room and was highly irritating. The staff didn’t clean the room thoroughly every day due to their cleaning policy, they just made the beds. A coffee cup we had used on day 1 was there the whole week even though I told the front desk about it; and the bathroom counter was dirty the whole time. On the positive side: the breakfast was very good and was included in the cost of staying. There was an elevator from the hotel directly into the Kamppi Shopping Mall below the hotel, so we could go there without needing warm clothing.

Hello fredsK792XQ, Thank you for your visit and given feedback. We appreciate every feedback and go it through with our staff. I am sorry about your visit. Next time we will give you a room facing to the calm inner yard. Our Monkey Bar is open onlu to 12am, but we are at the center so we can't block every noise coming from outside. We have a lighter, more environment friendly cleaning and don't change mugs every day - customers can still ask us to do it or to do a more precise cleaning. I am glad to hear you enjoyed our breakfast and location :) Hope to see you again here and have a lovely autumn! Best regards, Annamari (Front office)

We went on an 11-day 4-capitals trip in July 2023.
The first capital: Helsinki

We stayed at the Scandic Simonkenttä for 2 nights.
The journey from the airport to the hotel was very straightforward. After you have picked up your suitcases, you take a lift or take 2 long escalators down to the train station. There you can board both trains (1 goes clockwise and one counterclockwise). Both have the main station as their final stop. Ticket price: €4.10; duration approx. 30 minutes.

From the main station it is about 6-7 minutes to walk to the hotel, the remaining 2-3 minutes slightly uphill.

The reception was very friendly and we were even able to check in early.

The view is great, over the Narinkkatori, Amos Rex & the Chapel of Silence.

The hotel lift even takes you to the shopping center below the hotel.

The breakfast was sufficient, even though there were always a lot of people there.

Check-out went smoothly.

We found the location to be ideal - a few minutes' walk into the city center, 2 minutes' walk to the hop-on hop-off bus station, and a tram stop right outside the door to get to the harbor.

Conclusion: We would recommend the hotel.

Hi, Breakfast is really versatile and certainly there are vegetarian options available. The warm alternative is warm vegetables, falafels and porridge. Selection of bread, multigrain, dark bread and a gluten-free alternative too. Lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and fruits. I hope this helped.
