Marski by Scandic attracts guests with its stylish design and central location, making it a convenient choice for those looking to explore the city. While the hotel's modern atmosphere and variety of breakfast options receive praise, some guests report disruptions from noise and express concerns over room cleanliness and size. The staff's friendliness often shines through, though experiences with service can vary. While the value proposition is debated among travelers, the overall impression is one of a hotel with potential, marred by issues that could affect comfort and satisfaction.

The hotel could not be in a more central location opposite Stokka. The breakfast was really good. I especially appreciated the special coffee machine that made vegan cappuccinos. The bed was excellent and the view from the window was nice. The room could have had more storage space, no chest of drawers. The hotel had the same problems as most Finnish hotels. Dish collection for breakfast was not organized efficiently, as the waiters spent a lot of time arranging dirty dishes in front of the kitchen instead of removing the dishes from the tables promptly. the customers' interest and atmosphere was not a priority. Although, it's probably not the fault of the waiters, but the one who instructed them to do this. The base of the bed had not been vacuumed when I came to the hotel. Respa promised that the matter would be taken care of during the next day's cleaning. The same garbage was still there under the bed when I left after three nights, when I couldn't bear to complain about the same thing again. My habit is to say it once, and if it doesn't work, I complain publicly. My pet still dragged a big pile of hair from under the bed on the last day, which was not ours' hair. The use of the vacuum cleaner didn't really seem to be successful in the hotel. When you pay an extra fee for a pet, you would hope to get at least the couple of minutes of vacuuming that that would have required. This didn't really spoil my vacation, but it didn't meet expectations from this hotel either.

We had a double room with no window which was absolutely fine. Very spacious. Beds were comfy, big pillows too. Bathroom was lovely, big shower space and nice towels. Kettle and tea/coffee/hot choc provided. Decent mini bar. Flatscreen tv links to phone. Great transport links and can walk to main town in 10 mins.

The hotel had a nice atmosphere, a modernly renovated quiet room and a comfy bed. Breakfast is well organized even at busy hours and is content-wise the best I have experienced in this price category. On the downside, the hotel bed had a huge and a small pillow, out of which neither really felt comfortable for me and the room pricing policy was a bit challenging because the non-cancellable booking was so much cheaper - would prefer to have the cancellable option as standard as is usual in other hotels. That being said, in its price category, overall this was a great experience.

Dear mkimin117647, Thank you for visiting Marski and giving feedback of your stay. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the feeling of the hotel and the design of the room. I'm sorry, though, that the pillow wasn't suitable for you. You can ask for more pillow options from the reception next time! Our pricing is quite standard for the hotel industry and nowadays you have plenty to choose from according to your own needs - with or without breakfast, with or without window, higher room categories, flexibility etc. These all reflect on the price. Great to hear that you found our hotel worth its value - warmly welcome again! Best regards, Maiju Front Office Duty Manager Marski by Scandic

Not a pleasant stay. Booked a Double Spacious room for two nights already a year and two days ahead of our trip. And paid for the booking at the time also. Our request was a room on the upper floors of the hotel. Being a 2-level member of the Scandic loyalty program, so guess the surprise to be given a room on floor 1. I had checked the situation with available rooms during the week of our arriving and there were rooms available (and no "only x left" like it is when the number of rooms start to run low) and to a lower price (flex, with right to cancel) than we paid for two nights (592 €). The room 106 we were given was straight above a restaurant so the noise from it and the street was horrible the Sat-Sun night. No sleep until around 4.30 am when the noise outside ended. The front desks apology afterwards did not at all compensate the badly and shortly slept night.

Breakfast on Sunday was not as good as it was in 12/2022, the delicious vegan croissants were replaced by some whole-grain-like-croissants. Not any more worth the price they ask for the breakfast.

After we now stayed in a room on the first floor, despite of paying a pretty high amount for the two nights and booking over a year ahead, we don't think of going back for a revisit at Marski. There is no idea in trying to wish for a specific location of the room, since they seem to ignore the wishes from guests. We could already read this between the lines in the reply we got by email from the hotel in prior to our stay. Neither the location nor the Scandic loyalty program are not anymore enough for us to choose Marski. There are several other better hotels in Helsinki. For us it will be the Sokos Hotel Pier 4 next time we visit Helsinki.

Tip: If you look for a Scandic Hotel in the Helsinki area that offer really good customers service choose Scandic Helsinki Airport Hotel.

Dear Marita, Thank you for visiting Marski and taking the time to write feedback about your stay. I’m very sorry to hear about the issues you faced during the stay, the biggest one being the room location on lower floors despite your wishes. We are always doing our best to accommodate our guests’ wishes and naturally we would love everyone to get their wishes. Sometimes, however, there might be longer-staying passengers in the requested rooms, or another reason why the room is not available. It might be due to occupancy, someone else’s wishes or maintenance work, just to name a few. We understand the importance of your wishes and don’t want anyone to feel disappointed. I just wanted to point out that there might be reasons that the guests don’t see, why sometimes some wishes aren’t fulfilled. Regarding your comment about our email response, for this very reason we tell our guests that we will do our best to fulfill their wishes but can’t promise it in advance. One again, our sincere apologies that your expectations weren’t met during the stay. We hope to get another chance in the future to impress you, but if not, we wish you a lovely autumn and all the best. Best regards, Maiju Front Office Duty Manager Marski by Scandic

Stayed here a few nights after our wedding. It was a weekend night so there was a lot of noise from the coming from the street so if you’re a light sleeper would recommend a room with no street view. The breakfast on Sunday morning was really crowded, but it was to be expected for a weekend on such a central location. So other than that we had a lovely stay, got to sleep and relax which was the whole point of the stay!

Average experience. The breakfast was very good and the location of the hotel is perfect. Our room was very far from the elevator and the room was very dark: on the other hand I would call it stylish but in some situations I would have prefer brighter lightning in the room. The cleaning was not done properly; there was dust on the floor and in the bathroom you were able to see showering stains on the wall/door. Beds and pillows were comfortable but my sleep was badly disturbed by the disco music coming somewhere near.
A tip for the hotel: My mum is allergic to all perfumed products and she would have needed unscented soap. We asked if the hotel has any, maybe you could add that option for the toiletries.

Dear Thetallfinn, and thank you very much for your feedback. We are very pleased to hear that you liked our breakfast selection and the location of the hotel – we are indeed located at the very heart of Helsinki! We regret to hear that the room did not meet entirely your expectations, and that the cleaning in the room was not up to our standards. We do have rooms in different categories located closer to the elevator, facing the inner yard, and also with added lightning in case our guest prefers that. We will also discuss the cleaning issues with our housekeeping department in order to be able to offer a perfect experience in the future. Finally, thank you very much for the tip – we do have some allergy friendly cosmetic products available at the reception upon request to meet all kinds of needs! Thank you again for visiting us, and we hope to see you soon again staying with us! Best regards, Anna Reception Marski by Scandic

We booked a room at this hotel based on the positive reviews. The location was very good. We chose the cheapest room available with buffet breakfast included. It was located on the -1 floor (basement) and evidently had no windows. The size of the room was correct, somewhat small and we missed some chairs other than bar stools as well as a work table. The minibar was empty, as it is only filled to order. The correct bathroom, without great luxuries, but with a water leak at the bottom of the screen.
One of the big problems of this hotel that has been a constant throughout our stay is the lack of cleanliness, something basic for any user. The first night they didn't clean the room or make the bed. During breakfast they barely cleaned the tables, and when they did, the frequency was not as desired.
On the other hand, the variety of foods at the breakfast buffet was remarkable, although without fresh orange juice. A hotel of this category cannot afford this lack.

We have visited twice, as the location is perfect. The breakfast is very generous and the staff are friendly. Our room on Yrjönkatu was basically fine, even though the location is far from reception.

However, last time the lift was broken, which the reception was not even aware of, and the previous time the room phone and TV didn’t work. The lift door is also repeatedly left open on the floors when the lift is not working. The room was not cleaned perfectly, the cleaning was delayed into the afternoon and the room lacked basic necessities on both occasions. When we come to a hotel we expect things to work and not have to contact reception repeatedly. Because of the perfect location I might come again and take a room from main building, but otherwise I would reconsider.

Dear Tour49570479427, Thank you for your detailed feedback about your visit with us at Marski! I'm happy to hear that location, breakfast and staff have made an impression to you. Sorry to hear that the elevator on the Yrjönkatu side had some issues. Thank you for letting us know to reception about the elevator not working. The elevator is protected by the Finnish Historical Society. Our hotel is also part of the Swan Labeled chain, so some necessities are not provided in the room automatically for ecological reason. Our housekeeping prioritizes cleaning first arrival rooms, so that when check in begins, we have room to check new arrivals to. This is why room cleaning for continuing guests is done in the afternoon. I do apologize that you felt that you had to contact reception repeatedly, but we appreciate you doing so. We truly hope to see you back at Marski some day soon and definitely recommend to book a room on the main building, if that is something you wish to do. Our staff is very happy to help with anything that comes to mind during your stay. We wish you a lovely summer time! Best wishes, Enya Customer Relations Marski by Scandic

Stayed here this June with my partner. The room without windows was nice, cozy and silent. Excellent for people like us who like to sleep and relax in the dark. Liked the design and was not missing a view.

Unfortunately there where multiple problems during our stay: we were missing bathrobes and two towels, the room was very dusty, showerdrain was not draining - receptionist came to fix the it with a plastic bag and gloves. There was no cleaning afterwards which left me at unease, but it was late and we were in a hurry so we just let it be. Also the soaps that are provided with the room had really strong very masculine scent that stay on your skin even after a proper rinsing. Breakfast was great, except if you're an allergic - then the choices were limited due to placing of said items. Peanut allergy is not that rare..

Well we gave feedback and got some of the problems fixed. Customer service was great. But it didn't make the experience better. My partner wants to try the hotel again to give a second chance - I wasn't sure, but maybe some of these were just some unfortunate rare things.

Thumbs up for the design, massive thumbs down for the dirt, dust and problems with the shower. Also hope you change your soaps to something at least unisex and mind at least the most common allergens better.

Dear silvernoon, Thank you for visiting us and writing a review of your experience. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the Sleep room and it’s “forest scenery” despite not having an actual view. Our sincere apologies for the problems you faced during the stay. I have forwarded your comments on the shampoo scent and please know that we have also non-scented toiletries available from the reception on request. I’m very sorry to hear that you found the breakfast to be not suited for an allergic person. We would love to hear more on this if you have specific comments or suggestions on how to do better! We are proud of the breakfast and its versatile selection so we’d be happy to improve it even more. We hope that we can host you again on another stay. Feel free to send us your wishes on the non-scented toiletries and other possible questions in advance in order to make your stay even better. Warmly welcome back! On the plus side: Comfortable beds. Good sauna. Ample breakfast. Central location.
Negative: Large hotel and therefore quite impersonal. Incredibly muddy in the breakfast dining room, poor acoustics and total lack of sound dampening measures, it is hardly possible to stay there if you are sensitive to sound. It was warm in the room (26-27 degrees) even though we set the lowest temperature. Poor drainage in the shower. The glass screen in the shower was also too small = half the bathroom was wet after showering. Poor lighting so it was difficult to see properly in the mirrors. Beds were made and towels provided for two people even though there were four of us. The hotel added an unadvertised fee of 20 euros/night for one of our children.

Yes, there is a bath tub available in several room categories. So I think if you specially ask for one, you'll get one. Once you’ve booked your stay, you’ll get the opportunity to add extras to your visit. This may only be available with pre-paid room rates.
