That was the second time we stayed in Hilton Kalastajatorppa. Located in a peaceful and quiet residential area but not very far from the city centre, this hotel provide a relaxing retreat away from the hustle of the city centre.

We booked water front suite on the top floor that has a wonderful vista and a fire place to enjoy the evening. Private sauna and a swimming pool were both amazing and relaxing prior to the evening dinner provided at the hotel’s restaurant “ Meritorppa”.Food and drinks complimented our evening to be an unforgettable event.

Breakfast is served in a well managed area by friendly, attentive and responsive staff. Hot dishes and egg-based dishes were also provided and served beside other items; sausages, oats, potato rosti, fruits, cold meat cuts, cheese slices, desserts, yoghourt etc.

We wish to thank the management and the staff for their kind and friendly hospitality for making our stay as a wonderful event.

Taking in considerations the quality/price of the accommodations, we thought this hotel is much attractive than other hotels in the city. We recommend this hotel as a best place to stay in Helsinki.

We decided to have a nice staycation in Hilton Kalastajatorppa and this time I really got an experience what it mean to be Hilton Diamond member!

I booked standard room with good price. In reception we felt very welcome and got a nice gift bag.

Room was a nice suite with own fireplace, something I never experienced in my travels.

Food and service in restaurant in the evening was wonderful. Wines matched perfectly with food, beef tartar first course and trout main course. Also cheese plate was very good.

Sauna and pool relaxed in the evening and morning, in this hotel it's possible to swim in the sea also.

Breakfast was good , typical Hilton breakfast and service was perfect even breakfast was quite crowded.

Deffinitely I'm coming back soon!

We booked a seaside suite with a wonderful fireplace on the fifth floor and We had a wonderful experience at the Hilton Kalastajatorppa Hotel. Room was clean, spacious, quiet, spectacular windows/balcony view and very comfortable. There were two bottles of water with few pieces of wrapped chocolate but who drinks bottled water in Helsinki where the tap water is of excellent quality! Taking in consideration this is a 5 star hotels, there was no welcoming fruit basket or little sparking wine, or little mementos that demonstrate the hotel is highly welcoming to their guests.

Front desk staff were extremely efficient, professional, polite and helpful.

The breakfast was amazing with so many choices hot dishes, cold cuts and pastries, and in particular, we loved the chia pudding! We ordered fried eggs and omelettes and were all tasty clean well presented and served fast. The staff at the breakfast room were attentive, responsive and quick to serve! They all went above and beyond to make our breakfast event comfortable and delightful. Big thanks to all of them!

We dined at the hotel Restaurant (Meritorppa) . Great and clean food served by friendly and attentive staff, many thanks to all of them.

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Helsinki. High quality rooms, and high quality service. Beautiful seaside strand, indoor swimming pool and ofcourse the Sauna!

The hotel hosted many dignitaries, celebrities and influential people. The hotel is few kilometers from city center close enough to public transportations, and, city center can be reached by a short ride. We probably will visit this hotel again to experience there the midsummer Eve magic! We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Helsinki.

Perfect location. We had booked room with sea view and it did not fail. Amazing view of the sea. Room size totally okay with big bathroom. However, they need an update and carry a mark of wear. We actually expected a better standard. It is also an irritation that the windows cannot be opened. You need a special "key" for which the cleaning is in your possession. However, we were given a key that was at the reception. Breakfast was good and varied. There are a few kilometers to Helsinki itself, but the tram runs often, just around the corner.

I've stayed here a few times over the last 3 years. I love this hotel. The last time we were there we were able to walk out onto the frozen sea. We saw people ice fishing out on it as well. We were there for New Years so there was a huge party at the nearby outdoor park on the waterfront. The rooms are cozy, and you definetly want one that is in the building that faces the sea. Just a short walk away is a sweet little spot called Café Torpanranta that is right on the beach. The Saunalahdentie tram station is also only a few minutes walk away and that takes you right into central Helsinki. The hotel even has igloos that ou can stay in. We may do that next time!

Stayed for 9 nights at Kalastajatorppa. The hotel stay was good. There was a problem with the Meritorppa restaurant though, which made my stay a bit less pleasant. The first two dinners at Meritorppa were great. Great food and great service. The 3rd night dinner at Meritorppa was a bad experience. I ordered the cheese and bacon burger (24 euros) and my son ordered the flank steak (41,90 euros). When the waitress asked how we wanted it cooked, I said medium well and my son said medium. Maybe the cook amount is different in the U.S. versus Finland, I don't know, but my hamburger was raw in the middle. I stated no pink and the middle was still bleeding. The bacon was also almost raw. My son's 41 euro steak was with no pink, basically well done when he had asked for medium. The waitress ordered me another burger and it took about 1 hour to come out. By this time, I really don't want another burger, but I was patient and tried not to complain. After waiting for the other burger, it comes out and it is well done, basically burnt and the french fries were also burnt. I figured that was my punishment for dare complaining about a raw in the middle burger. At this point, I just want to leave. The waitress did apologize and told the manager, who took it off the bill. When I went to pay the bill, the restaurant manager ran my card and was very rude to me. After signing for the bill the manager threw the receipt down on the bar and walked away without a word. He seemed angry that I dare complain about a 24 euro burger that was not suitable for eating. I did not return to the Meritorppa for the next 6 nights as planned and was able to find food elsewhere. Other than that restaurant experience, my stay was good. One thing to note is that the room we were in did not seem to have air conditioning, but luckily it was June and we could open the balcony door. The area is beautiful and safe with nice walking trails. The sauna was the best part about the hotel stay.

The hotel was built in the late 60s / early 70s and has that era's almost brutalist architecture in some places.

The accommodation is quite excellent with clean rooms, very comfortable beds and my room had a splendid shower. The hotel itself is in a very quiet area so food choices are limited but the secluded location means absolute silence at nights which is great.

The reception area has a great set of photographs showing visits from many world leaders over the years.

The restaurant has great views over the sea and the food was really good but the prices are high. Breakfast is excellent with a great set of choices.

We stayed at the Hilton Kalastajatorppa for one night on a ”staycation”, we live just a few kms away, in the City Center. We were looking for a nice getaway and especially for a good night sleep in an airconditioned room in what is a hot summer in Helsinki.

We liked the surroundings and the hotel area. We walked around and tried the sauna and pool. We ate at the seaview restaurant which was nice on a sunny and warm summer evening. The service there was a little uncoordinated and slow. It took time to get contact with the staff, and the food was only ’ok’, nothing spectacular although otherwise advertised.

There is no Executive Lounge in this hotel. The only notice of being a diamond member was at checkin when I got a paper bag given to me with two bottles of water, chocolates and a small bottle of (cheap) red wine.

To our great disappointment the airconditioning in the room did not work! We first came to the room in the afternoon and it was ”tropical”. While thinking that the aircon just wasnt on without the key in the room keyslot, we didnt think much of this and went about our business in the evening. At night the room had not cooled down and the air was very warm and moist. We did not get a good nights sleep and were very disappointed!

To note: it was a clear sign of the hotel knowing about the aircon not working that they’d brought in a fan (which also made a lot of noice when on and moving).

When complaining about the lack of aircon the lady at the reception doing our checkout really failed to leave us with any good impression. Her response was only that ”yeah, she knows that the aircon has been busted for some time and it’s warm to sleep there as she slept there also that same night”. Very big lack of empathy and also of a customer support attitude. I mentioned many times that the aircon was the main reason for us to stay there as my wife is on her last month of pregnancy. No apologies, no intention to fix or compensate. The only ’apology’ I got was when I’d turned my back already.

Apart from making an upgrading renovation to the hotel, Please take better attention of your (diamond) customers and listed to what is important to them.

I warmy recommend the other Hilton in town (Hilton Strand) for better location, renovated interior, executive lounge and much friendlier staff!

Dear aleksir2018, Thank You for taking time to write a review. As you are surely aware, there has been a long heatwave in Helsinki region and we are sorry that our facilities weren't up to your expectations. It is also sad to hear that our service wasn't to your liking, as that has been largely complimented are of our guests experiences in the past. Luckily we have other options under the same brand in Helsinki, and seemingly there is also one to your liking! Please accept our apologies and we look forward to having you as our guest again - if not at our property then in any of our other hotels in Helsinki. Have a nice Summer! Best regards, Christian de C. Duty Manager

Some years ago I had a pleasant stay in this hotel. With my second visit to Helsinki I had no hesitation to book again, although this time just for one night. From the airport I took the train to Helsinki Central Station and from there tram 4. A journey which takes appr. 2 hours and the train ticket can also be used for connecting public transport.

Before arrival I could already see, that as Lifetime Diamond I was upgraded to a King Suite with view. Check-in went smooth by a friendly young man who recognized my status. My Suite wasn’t ready yet at 13:30, but he took care by offering me a cup of coffee. He also contacted housekeeping and asked for a little speed. It was less than half hour waiting time before I got my room keys.

The Suite was amazing, a very spacious room and large windows with a panoramic view over the beautiful lake and surroundings. Furthermore a comfortable sleeping area, nice sitting area, table and chairs, and to my surprise, a fireplace with enough logs and all other essentials to start a fire. On the table I found a Welcome card, a small bottle of red wine and chocolates, all highly appreciated. So, in the evening, after dinner, I lit the fireplace and drank a nice glass of red wine next to it, a wow experience.

I had dinner in the restaurant, very pricey but I had a delicious 3-course fixed dinner from the menu. Service was good and attentive. The breakfast was also very nice with friendly staff. That morning I didn’t use the pool, because it had limited hours and for me it was too busy when it was open. But I made a nice walk before checking out and then took the tram back to the city center. Tram tickets are expensive if you buy them in the hotel (even more than the ticket from the long airport journey). This service has to be paid, but a short walk to a shop nearby, can save you money, especially if you are with a large group or need tickets for several trips.

In all I had a very pleasant and relaxing stay and sure to be recommended, even for a city trip if you don’t mind the 20-30 minutes tram ride to the city center.
