We decided to have a nice staycation in Hilton Kalastajatorppa and this time I really got an experience what it mean to be Hilton Diamond member!

I booked standard room with good price. In reception we felt very welcome and got a nice gift bag.

Room was a nice suite with own fireplace, something I never experienced in my travels.

Food and service in restaurant in the evening was wonderful. Wines matched perfectly with food, beef tartar first course and trout main course. Also cheese plate was very good.

Sauna and pool relaxed in the evening and morning, in this hotel it's possible to swim in the sea also.

Breakfast was good , typical Hilton breakfast and service was perfect even breakfast was quite crowded.

Deffinitely I'm coming back soon!

This hotel has a beautiful seaside location in Munkkiniemi, 6 km from the city center. There is a tram stop nearby and the city center can be reached in 20 minutes by tram 4.

The oldest part of the hotel is the round restaurant building from 1936. The white seaside wing from 1969 has deluxe rooms with sea views, one suite with a balcony, and the Meritorppa restaurant.

The curvy shape tile building from 1975 has the reception, breakfast restaurant, standard rooms, plus rooms with a balcony, junior suites, and one presidential suite.

This time we booked a King Plus room with a balcony. They are located on the 7th and 8th floors. Actually on the 2nd or 3rd floor, because floors 1-5 are in the seaside wing and floors 6-8 in the main wing, where the 6th floor is the ground floor.

The plus rooms have a limited sea view because of the trees and the round restaurant building. However, the balcony is lovely if the weather is summery.

Breakfast had a good selection of food but it was very busy on Sunday morning. It is sold also to non-hotel guests.

It is quite contradictory that on the lobby floor are stickers to remind of the safety distances but during breakfast, it was completely impossible to keep enough distance to other guests. Because of the breakfast, the Hilton CleanStay promise was not completely fulfilled.

We booked a seaside suite with a wonderful fireplace on the fifth floor and We had a wonderful experience at the Hilton Kalastajatorppa Hotel. Room was clean, spacious, quiet, spectacular windows/balcony view and very comfortable. There were two bottles of water with few pieces of wrapped chocolate but who drinks bottled water in Helsinki where the tap water is of excellent quality! Taking in consideration this is a 5 star hotels, there was no welcoming fruit basket or little sparking wine, or little mementos that demonstrate the hotel is highly welcoming to their guests.

Front desk staff were extremely efficient, professional, polite and helpful.

The breakfast was amazing with so many choices hot dishes, cold cuts and pastries, and in particular, we loved the chia pudding! We ordered fried eggs and omelettes and were all tasty clean well presented and served fast. The staff at the breakfast room were attentive, responsive and quick to serve! They all went above and beyond to make our breakfast event comfortable and delightful. Big thanks to all of them!

We dined at the hotel Restaurant (Meritorppa) . Great and clean food served by friendly and attentive staff, many thanks to all of them.

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Helsinki. High quality rooms, and high quality service. Beautiful seaside strand, indoor swimming pool and ofcourse the Sauna!

The hotel hosted many dignitaries, celebrities and influential people. The hotel is few kilometers from city center close enough to public transportations, and, city center can be reached by a short ride. We probably will visit this hotel again to experience there the midsummer Eve magic! We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Helsinki.

We stayed at the Hilton Kalastajatorppa for one night on a ”staycation”, we live just a few kms away, in the City Center. We were looking for a nice getaway and especially for a good night sleep in an airconditioned room in what is a hot summer in Helsinki.

We liked the surroundings and the hotel area. We walked around and tried the sauna and pool. We ate at the seaview restaurant which was nice on a sunny and warm summer evening. The service there was a little uncoordinated and slow. It took time to get contact with the staff, and the food was only ’ok’, nothing spectacular although otherwise advertised.

There is no Executive Lounge in this hotel. The only notice of being a diamond member was at checkin when I got a paper bag given to me with two bottles of water, chocolates and a small bottle of (cheap) red wine.

To our great disappointment the airconditioning in the room did not work! We first came to the room in the afternoon and it was ”tropical”. While thinking that the aircon just wasnt on without the key in the room keyslot, we didnt think much of this and went about our business in the evening. At night the room had not cooled down and the air was very warm and moist. We did not get a good nights sleep and were very disappointed!

To note: it was a clear sign of the hotel knowing about the aircon not working that they’d brought in a fan (which also made a lot of noice when on and moving).

When complaining about the lack of aircon the lady at the reception doing our checkout really failed to leave us with any good impression. Her response was only that ”yeah, she knows that the aircon has been busted for some time and it’s warm to sleep there as she slept there also that same night”. Very big lack of empathy and also of a customer support attitude. I mentioned many times that the aircon was the main reason for us to stay there as my wife is on her last month of pregnancy. No apologies, no intention to fix or compensate. The only ’apology’ I got was when I’d turned my back already.

Apart from making an upgrading renovation to the hotel, Please take better attention of your (diamond) customers and listed to what is important to them.

I warmy recommend the other Hilton in town (Hilton Strand) for better location, renovated interior, executive lounge and much friendlier staff!

Dear aleksir2018, Thank You for taking time to write a review. As you are surely aware, there has been a long heatwave in Helsinki region and we are sorry that our facilities weren't up to your expectations. It is also sad to hear that our service wasn't to your liking, as that has been largely complimented are of our guests experiences in the past. Luckily we have other options under the same brand in Helsinki, and seemingly there is also one to your liking! Please accept our apologies and we look forward to having you as our guest again - if not at our property then in any of our other hotels in Helsinki. Have a nice Summer! Best regards, Christian de C. Duty Manager

Visited Kalastajatorppa for a quick staycation with my daughter having previously been quite satisfied with our visits – this time unfortunately not that happy.

The hotel should be renovated in near future as the hotel rooms are showing their age with a lot of wear and tear – I guess the latest renovation was done sometime in the 1990's. We stayed in a king deluxe room with a view, having been upgraded from the basic room as a Hilton Diamond. As a diamond amenity we received a bag with two bottles of water, a small bottle of red wine and some chocolates.

We were very happy with the reception staff, they were very professional and friendly. Unfortunately our dinner at the Meritorppa restaurant was a disappointment though, with long waits for any contact with the staff, drinks delivered after the food was already eaten and as a highlight daughter's burger was inedible with a burnt crisp burger patty. The restaurant was at capacity with too few staff present, leading to unhappy customers and stressed waiters – not a good combination.

All in all, unfortunately the hotel quality seems to have deteriorated – I recommend waiting for a renovation before visit.

We spent there one night. The welcoming at the front desk was friendly, we got a room from the main building. The room was a room what one can expect when you have a "Hilton-Room". Althought it was a standard room, it contained so many luxury things that it was indeed a relaxing room!
The complimentary finnish sauna was as expected, like the pool as well.
I slept about 10 hours (!), more than I normally do. So it was very relaxing stay.
The breakfast buffet was superb, the staff at the restaurant really seemed to enjoy their work; they were extremely friendly and the there was food for each and every need.
I do recommend this hotel.
By the way - car parking outdoors is free and who would need a car when the famous Helsinki tram system connects you to Helsinki downtown

Some years ago I had a pleasant stay in this hotel. With my second visit to Helsinki I had no hesitation to book again, although this time just for one night. From the airport I took the train to Helsinki Central Station and from there tram 4. A journey which takes appr. 2 hours and the train ticket can also be used for connecting public transport.

Before arrival I could already see, that as Lifetime Diamond I was upgraded to a King Suite with view. Check-in went smooth by a friendly young man who recognized my status. My Suite wasn’t ready yet at 13:30, but he took care by offering me a cup of coffee. He also contacted housekeeping and asked for a little speed. It was less than half hour waiting time before I got my room keys.

The Suite was amazing, a very spacious room and large windows with a panoramic view over the beautiful lake and surroundings. Furthermore a comfortable sleeping area, nice sitting area, table and chairs, and to my surprise, a fireplace with enough logs and all other essentials to start a fire. On the table I found a Welcome card, a small bottle of red wine and chocolates, all highly appreciated. So, in the evening, after dinner, I lit the fireplace and drank a nice glass of red wine next to it, a wow experience.

I had dinner in the restaurant, very pricey but I had a delicious 3-course fixed dinner from the menu. Service was good and attentive. The breakfast was also very nice with friendly staff. That morning I didn’t use the pool, because it had limited hours and for me it was too busy when it was open. But I made a nice walk before checking out and then took the tram back to the city center. Tram tickets are expensive if you buy them in the hotel (even more than the ticket from the long airport journey). This service has to be paid, but a short walk to a shop nearby, can save you money, especially if you are with a large group or need tickets for several trips.

In all I had a very pleasant and relaxing stay and sure to be recommended, even for a city trip if you don’t mind the 20-30 minutes tram ride to the city center.

The hotel was built in the late 60s / early 70s and has that era's almost brutalist architecture in some places.

The accommodation is quite excellent with clean rooms, very comfortable beds and my room had a splendid shower. The hotel itself is in a very quiet area so food choices are limited but the secluded location means absolute silence at nights which is great.

The reception area has a great set of photographs showing visits from many world leaders over the years.

The restaurant has great views over the sea and the food was really good but the prices are high. Breakfast is excellent with a great set of choices.

Hilson Kalastajatorppa (meaning fishermen's village) is a nice quiet hotel little far from the city's bustling centre. If you like solitude and a great view of the sea, go for it. If you like to be in the happening place then do not stay here. I travel to Helsinki often for my job. This hotel suits me from commuting purpose. However, when I travelled to Helsinki with my wide, i chose the Crowne Plaza which is closer to the city centre. The other negative point of this Hilton is that it does not have any executive lounge. This is not good. To justify the price, they should have one.

I stayed here during 3 weeks and liked the sea view, plus the historic feel of the various statesmen that have stayed here before.

However, the property is in need of refreshment, some of the furniture is visibly used, the sofa in one of the rooms I had outright dirty (624).

The gym is small and unfortunately has no view, maybe it could be shifted into one of the rooms in the Seaview wing where you then could work out with a ... sea view.

The staff is extremely friendly, the breakfast great.
