Room 934, 1 King Bed Standard Top Floor. This room faced out to the front of the hotel looking at the other buildings in the area. No noise from outside although when someone shuts a door nearby it shakes the room a bit. The room itself was comfortable and modern, aircon worked fine, WIFI good, comfortable bed, usual news channels on the TV, the football was shown on 2 channels and there was a bit of choice from Scandinavia. There is a gym and sauna I believe but didn't use these facilities.
Breakfast was good, but to have in your room is 25 - 30 euros even if you have breakfast included. I went down and brought it up to the room myself, although the restaurant area is a pleasant place.
We were here for a conference so this hotel was perfect for that with it being connected to the building, but if you are planning to go to the city centre every day you will find that although an easy journey, it takes a bit of time to travel the 5 - 6km. Best way we found was to walk 10 mins to train station and its a 1 stop 5 min journey to central station. Otherwise you are looking at a 30 -35 min tram journey (stop right outside hotel) or taxi (do not use the ones lined up outside they cost 4 x price of Uber / Bolt) which is quicker than tram of course.
The area around the hotel is mostly new build residential and business but there is a very good shopping mall (6min walk) connected to the train station.
I would stay in this hotel again for a conference, but of course as a tourist it would not make sense.

Great hotel to stay in - and right next door to the Expo centre. The rooms were really clean and well appointed (I had a top floor room); bed really comfortable; fantastic shower; loved the Nespresso machine and free chocolates; and a wonderful breakfast with one of the best buffets I've had in a Holiday Inn.
Staff all brilliant - not much more I can add to be honest !

Stayed in this hotel for four nights while visiting Helsinki for some music concerts happening at the Olympic Stadium. This hotel was about a 25 minute walk, or 15 mins in a taxi (or about ten mins if you’re brave enough to ride the plethora of electric scooters for hire!). There’s a train station just a few minutes walk from the hotel that goes directly to the airport (about half an hour journey, €4.10 fare). There’s also a large shopping mall only a 6 or 7 minute walk also. I found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful, the hotel itself was well equipped and always clean and tidy. The breakfast was amazing, so much range and variety (including gluten free options). I didn’t use the gym on the top floor, but I did visit the sauna on the second floor that was very nice. Whilst there wasn’t much to do in the area, it did mean it was lovely and quiet. So couple that with the very comfortable rooms, a good nights sleep is guaranteed. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again should I next find myself visiting Helsinki

I stayed here with a mate for a two night football trip and really could not fault the hotel. First, the location is very good being a 5 minute walk max from Pasila station, which has bars, restaurants and a shopping mall located within it. From here it is less than 5 minutes by train to central station, or about 25 minute walk. The staff were all really friendly and efficient. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable and I got a great night sleep both nights. I didn’t eat here as the rooms were used really as a base so cannot comment on the food but everything else was of a very high standard and represented excellent value for money.

Thank you to the staff of Holiday Inn Helsinki Expo for a pleasant stay, if I return to Helsinki anytime soon I definitely will return :)
PROS of the hotel: + close to 1. the Mall of Tripla where you can buy just about anything, from groceries to clothes, to medication and flowers, plentiful of restaurants and bars 2. a convention centre 3. a train station 4. Linnanmaki + while it depends on one's definiton of close proximity, I dare say it's not as distant from the city centre as it seems on the map, therefore you don't have to take a train. there are two main routes to the city centre - if you walk along the seaside it will only take you about 30 minutes to reach the Forum mall + clean rooms + a wide variety of TV channels + quite tasty coffee and tea + understanding staff, didn't disturb us upon our kind request + comfortable beds, i would fall asleep right away
CONS: - costly breakfast. you can get the same amount of food you would actually consume at the hotel breakfast in one of the nearby supermarkets for 1/10 of the price.

I made the booking with my IHG points. The standard room was 20.000 points. As being an IHG Platinum member, we got an upgrade to an Executive room.
The room size is the same but Executive rooms are located on the top 9th floor. Also, the room is better equipped. It has bathrobes, Nespresso machine, complimentary water, and chocolate.
On arrival, I noticed that over half of the minibar items are missing. There were just wines and spirits left. For my IHG Platinum drink voucher, there were not many choices. The hotel bar was not open yet. Vouchers were just for the minibar.
In the morning, we found out that there was only one bathrobe for two persons.
Otherwise, the rooms are stylish and practical. Also, the room was clean.
The breakfast was served in the bar. It had nearly the same standards as the restaurant breakfast before. The price was 15 euros per person.

Dear Mikael F, Thank you for the review. Your stay was definitely affected by some Murphy's law. I am very sorry for all the problems you faced during your stay. Unfortunately with us the Elite vouchers are only usable for the minibar, as there is a different company running the bar and restaurant. Luckily we now have the bar open. All rooms on the 9th floor should have a bathrobe in the bathroom, and another in the closet. I am sorry this was not the case with your room and will forward your review to our housekeeping. I do hope the points you received as compensation for these problems brought you joy. See you again soon! Best regards, Riikka Shift Manager

After a few stays here post Covid19 I have only been dissappointed. I have been given rooms that do not meet the basic stadards and the staff attitude is certainly "apologetic" but does not come off very genuine.
I have had rooms with urine stain in the toilet and bath room, dirty towels, minibars that are empty(left to the customer to restock it!) etc so buyer beware. could potentially come with issues if you dont notice yourself.
This used to be a very clean and friendly hotel what happened?
for a quick one night stay this is the only IHG option at the moment.
Hopefully hotel managment will start to pay more attention to their processes in these heightened times to the cleaning and service needs & requirments.

Recently rennovated hotel, with large rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet provides a wealth of choices for a continental or full Amercian breakfast, including alternatives such as soy milk and glutenfree bread. The hotel is close to a railway station, Pasila, and a mall attached to it. Pasila is well connected to the airport (~30-40 minutes) and you can take any train in direction Helsinki; they all stop at the main station in the city centre (about 15 minute ride). Very convenient! It also had a very nice, clean and well equipped fitness room with a sauna.

I had a very good sleep in this hotel. My room on 5th floor was facing the backyard of the Expo and Convention Centre, so the view was not even close to beautiful, but room was very quiet. Thanks to the efficient air conditioning, it was easy to get my room to cool enought for a good sleep. However, I would have preferred a softer bed and pillows.
The room was clean and it had everything I needed for one night stay. Breakfast buffet was nice, nothing surprising though. The service was ok. As a Finn travelling in Finland I think the staff should be able to speak fluent Finnish, for example to to ensure the service level of elderly people. Unfortunately this wasn't the case with every customer service person in Holiday Inn, some spoke only a few words in Finnish or just didn't want to use the language.
The location of the hotel is central and it's super easy to get to Tripla Mall or Pasila railway station.

If you are an indian or from other south eastern countries then I would suggest you to say big no to this hotel chain or the holiday Inn particularly in pasila, Finland. A lot of discrimination will be faced from your end from the point of entry till the date you exit. You won't be able to find good food or even you can't ask for better facilities. Most of the receptionist will treat you like you are from third world country. Better would be to avoid and find more friendly people. I wouldn't even suggest this hotel since It will spoil your entire business trip or holiday fun.
