It's well connected, if you're arriving from the airport the bus 615 will take you very close to the hotel (takes about 15 mins!) and you can get to town very easily by a tram or a bus. There's also plenty of parking around the hotel. But you also have some piece and quiet when you want to just chill out, great walks around the area and even a local karaoke bar nearby!
The hotel itself was pretty standard mid-price range establishment, but what really makes the place is the service you receive. Nothing is too much to ask, you get advice/help with some great conversation thrown in.
They also have a sauna and a swimming pool, but you do have to usually pay extra for the use of the sauna.
Breakfast was also great and the other thing I appreciated was the fact that eventhough we stayed over on a friday night, we slept with the windows open and had no noise problems from the streets below. Now that would not be possible if you were staying in the centre I am sure!

However, you really have to eat your dinner before you get back to the hotel. You can either eat in the hotel ( but not much choices, the food is so so ) or walk up to the small restaurants near the main street. If you have heavy luggages and stay on 2/F, please prepare to lift them upstairs. There is no lift there. Breakfast is lack of choices.
You can take the tram 1/ 1A to city centre. The last tram back to hotel area is around 18:30. If you miss it, u have to take another available tram and change any buses which stop at Kapyla area.
I would recommend for short stay/ travel alone. It is not romantic at all if you are going with your lover.
I see no reason to choose this hotel.

The hotel is walkable from Käpylä/Kottby station. Train to and from airport easy and costs under €5/person.
Hotel is clean, which is a big tick. Beyond that, it’s not really great in any way. The lobby is dull and generally unwelcoming. The rooms are very basic, power sockets in awkward places. Some pictures on the walls/a headboard/anything would break up the cell-like styling (underfloor heating in bathroom was welcome). The breakfast was fine. The pool and sauna are only available to residents during breakfast hours...
The restaurant was closed in the evenings. There is a small bar.
There’s an Alepa (grocery chain) store across the road, with a cash point.
The tram stop is right next to the hotel, with a ticket machine. Can’t buy tickets on the tram. Can pay on the bus. Both cost a couple of Euros per trip.
We were advised that the tram doesn’t go the way we needed (towards centre). There is a bus, but timing-wise it was taxis only for us — and taxis are expensive in Helsinki.
Hotels are expensive in Helsinki also, and this is a compromise, but it’s a compromise too far for me.
It was easy to take the train from the station close to the hotel to Helsinki city centre and to the airport.
Breakfast was good, but it was the same food every day. No water is provided in the room.
Old, simple rooms with quite comfortable beds. Bad, old pillows weaken the sleeping experience, though. The breakfast buffet is simple but as good as you get for a cheap price. Notice that if the breakfast buffet tables run out of something, fresh bread for instance, they're very rarely refilled, if at all. Noisy staff meeting was held right in front of the customers finishing their breakfast which we thought was quite unprofessional.
The service at the reception is good, helpful and and friendly. There are usually free parking spots right in front of the hotel or very nearby. Avoid the taxi spots in front of the main entrance, though! The sauna and the swimming pool of the hotel are known from a Finnish tv series from the 90s. A shame that nowadays you can hardly enjoy the bathing there, because of the overwhelming smell of mold (!!) down there. Just like going to an old cellar in the countryside. Go ahead and try for yourself, if you don't believe us.
All in all, this hotel is a place for sleeping for cheap price. Three or two and a half stars. Don't expect very much else. We paid 76 euros per night for two persons in December and the same price in January. They advertise rooms for 59 euros for Finlandia hotel members.
Would we go again? - I don't know, probably not. There's better accommodation for just 15-20 euros more per night. But there are its positive sides here, too.
Not so pram friendly, but the staff are happy to help. It's located in a calm area and there is a food store right across the street and communications to get to the city central.
Lunch was even worse, old watery lettuce (I guess from the yesterday's salad bar) and other bowls of other also watery and bad tasting mix of salads. The lunch was made from freezer potatoes and ham (some kind of casselore), and the same went for the sweet potato soup, not home made. Desert for others was also not tasty looking cake at all, and already once frozen chocolate ice cream for us two, who were not able to eat gluten.
The only thing saving the lunch and the whole day was the nice staff and good, hot coffee.
The room felt a little dated but still spacious and comfortable. There was only a cable internet connection so not good for phone & tablet. The shower in the room worked with an automatic off tap which was a source of immense frustration.
The area around the hotel appeared residential so you would have a further walk / travel for restaurant options.
I enjoyed a morning swim before breakfast but was confused with where to get changed and the sauna facilities.
The staff were polite and very helpful.
