This hotel is ideally locate next to the couch station and metrostop in the city centre, with a walking distance from the railway station.
Recently renovated, with a great staff and comfy beds.
The air condition noice was disturbing but they fixed it on my request.
Breakfast not too great for vegan/organic options, needs improvement to match the price. But the waitress run to the shop to get me almond milk - thanks for the lovely service attitude.
Rooms are silent and ok size, i had one with bathtub on request. Restaurant offers a vegan menu, and there are free snacks in the lobby. The best things are the location and the friendly service (the staff).

The design of the rooms was absolutely beautiful and loved the top floor view. However buffet breakfast and common areas left me feeling unsafe as not enough measures (such as masks and recommendations) were taken in the hotel. Cleanliness could have been better in the room and restaurant, and the cleaning lady did not come during our stay (not even to take out the trash when the room had only 1 tiny trash bin in the bathroom)

Dear Jutta, thank you for staying with us at Royal, happy to hear you liked our rooms. Sorry to hear you felt unsafe with us. I can assure you that we follow all the government guidelines to maintain an excellent level of hygiene and to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. Our hotel is SGS (the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.) - certified. When it come to breakfast, we have only certain amounts of tables in use, to ensure the safety distance. We only have small portions of food at the Buffet to ensure the best hygiene, we change the cutlery often and have hand disinfectants in many places to use as well has hand sanitiser cloths available at the reception. Our staff also wears masks all the time. Unfortunately all we can do is recommend, as wearing a mask is not compulsory here. We have a safety information sign in the reception, which recommends/asks to follow the safety guidelines (also when it comes to wearing a mask). But it's up to our customers to either follow them or not. All we can do is recommend. You can also order the breakfast to your room, and enjoy it in the safety of your own room if you want. This has been a very popular option. As wearing a mask is only a recommendation, we don't offer mask for free (apart from the gym use, where wearing a mask is compulsory), but we have mask available to buy at the reception. We also have recommendations about the safe use of the elevator in front of the elevator. My apologies that the room cleaning was not up to our standard. I will forward your feedback to our housekeeping. We have a green housekeeping in use, which means that the room is only cleaned every 3 nights. This is also the safest option during COVID. However, if the customer asks, we naturally clean the room every day. This information is given to every guest during the check´-in as we give every guest a information paper (at the moment we have taken all the signs away from the room as a safety measure and thus give every guest the same information in a paper form during check-in). We also ask about the cleaning preference as often as possible. Hopefully this information eases your mind a bit. If you have anything else you'd like to ask us, we are happy to answer (info.royal.helsinki@radissonblu.com) Hopefully we will meet again. Happy New Year 2021! Best regards, Arla Reception

Nicely renovated hotel in the city centre. Rooms are spacious and finished in a modern style. Breakfast is good and presents a nice variety. The only complaint I had was the level of cleanliness in the room. The room floors were not properly washed and considering the current pandemic situation, this is a detail that shall be taken seriously. As I haven't spent a lot of time in the room, I only complained to the reception during check-out who promised that my complaint will be followed through.

Good quality hotel and good value for money. Large room with comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities and a nice bathroom. Good Wi-Fi. Plenty of choice at breakfast, which was included in the rate at a reasonable additional cost, and the food was good quality. Music in the breakfast room, whist not at a silly volume by any means, was still a little louder than I personally appreciate first thing in the morning.
The hotel is situated on the western side of central Helsinki. I arrived late evening but had no problems making my way on foot from central station. There is a shopping precinct, including take away food options, and public transport on the doorstep. The central attractions are also all walkable from this hotel assuming you have no issues with mobility. Helsinki is a lovely city, and happily almost everyone speaks good to excellent English. I hope to make a return visit in the future and I would certainly stay at the Radisson Blu again.

We were visiting just one night in this hotel. First there were some minor problems with room and details what we had already agreed with hotel, but hotel personnel solved all fast, nicely and professional way. I felt they really wanted us to enjoy this visit. We stayed at business class room what was nice. 8´th floor room has nice view towards to centrum. Bed was so comfy, we also ordered breakfast to room what was very good and arrived just when it was ordered. Very good hotel with very good location.

The hotel is right outside the Kamppi Metro station, linking you to pretty much wherever you want to go. The Kamppi shopping centre is just outside the hotel, it’s got a neat food court beyond just the usual chains.

The rooms in the Radisson have been recently refitted, so it all feels quite bright, fresh, and modern which is great. A few stains that made me wonder, but decided not to think too hard about it.

Hotel breakfast was included, and good enough. A few bits of cheese had dried out, the bacon could have been crispier, and less oily. I saw there was fruit.

The restaurant bistro was a bit steeply priced, for what you get. But I guess if you are tired it’s simpler than taking a walk to somewhere nearby; there are many alternatives nearby.

The staff are good and helpful. I guess the negatives are simply down to a business trying to save a few Euro here and there. Which is a shame, as it’s let down by just a few simple things.

We booked a Business Class room from the cyber sale for 117 euros. During check-in, we asked for an upgrade to a Junior Suite and got it for 30 euros extra. The normal price for a Junior Suite is around 300 euros.

There are two Junior Suites: one on the 7th floor and one on the 8th floor. Five years ago, we stayed in 733. Now we got 833.

In the recent renovation, the rooms were completely refurbished. Our suite had very stylish decor. There had become a wall between the living room and the bedroom. So the suite didn't feel as spacious as before.

The only television was huge. It was in the living room and not watchable from the bed. Also, it was placed very high to be watched from the sofa which was very near.

The round sofa table was big and low, blocking the passage to and from the bedroom. In the dark, it is dangerous. Also, the table was not ideal for eating the room service breakfast which is included in the suite price.

Because our stay had good value for 147 euros, I am giving five stars. For the normal price, I would give four. We would not book the Junior Suite again.

There was a very lucrative Valentine's Day offer for the Executive Suite. The price was just 209 euros instead of the normal price of 489 euros. The offer included a bottle of sparkling wine. The rate was flexible and breakfast inclusive.

Some suites have a jacuzzi. We asked for it and got it, this time on the 6th floor.

The suite is spacious and stylishly decorated. The famous Finnish interior designer Vertti Kivi has done a great job also here.

The only minus side was the views. They were not so special. At this hotel, only a few rooms have great views.

Suites and Business class rooms have complimentary room service breakfast. This time, it was possible to add omelets to it without an extra charge.

Stayed for 4 nights for business, ans was able to take a train from the airport to Helsinki and then only 1 metro stop to the hotel located right across the street. Very easy to get to. Clean room, comfortable bed on the 8th floor. Hotel breakfast was typical but nice, although after a few days it would be nice for some variety. I would stay here again the next time I'm in Helsinki

The hotel is about 15 mins walk with luggage from the central station and 20 mins for the harbour for the ferry across to Suomenlinna island.

The hotel itself is modern and Scandinavian style inside. The room was warm and the bed was very comfy.

The breakfast choice was varied with hot and cold options - including some local flavours.

Unfortunately, we learned from a recent visit to this hotel that they have changed their policy. It used to be that the breakfast buffet was included in the stay ... but that it no longer true. These days they are charging extra for the breakfast buffet. I checked the local web site and this includes accommodations booked for the Junior Suite. The breakfast is approximately €23 per person, but usually they offer it for the rate of €15 if it is booked ahead of time. With respect to our reservation it was possible to "amend" the reservation online by searching through the "additional items" that could be ordered -- as the breakfast buffet was one of those items featured. Speaking only from our prospective, we always order the breakfast buffet. The food offered is varied and represents good value for the amount it costs. It always keeps us from being hungry (while on the good) for most of the day. Hope this answers your question and helps you make the right decision for you. And wishing you a pleasant stay! We have stayed at this particular hotel at least 10 times and we have always had a pleasant visit. It is our "go-to" hotel in Helsinki and is a good deal for a 4-star rated property. Their concern about the environment is also a plus and they take special precautions to make sure guests are safe during this Covid-19 scourge.

The train station is 15 mins walk down the road where you can take a bus to the airport. Or you can take a taxi.

we will be a party of 6...what is the best way to get to this hotel from the airport?
Answer from BoABeauBear
Bradford-on-Avon, United Kingdom577 contributions105 helpful votes
I agree with the others, a taxi or two is the best solution. There are taxi ranks outside terminals 1 and 2, with a constant stream of taxis and passengers. The easiest method is just to join the queue and take two taxis if a people carrier is not at the taxi rank. Alternatively, you can book a mini bus taxi to meet you at the airport and they will carry a board with your name on it as you come through arrivals. Google Helsinki airport taxi "people carrier" OR "mini bus" and you will find a choice of companies that you can book with. Mini bus taxis are licensed for up to 8 passengers, so you could all travel together. A standard taxi will cost between €40 & €50, which, split three ways is fairly cheap. The journey is between 25 and 30 minutes for the 17 Km. The Radisson Blu Royal is opposite a large shopping precinct called Kampii, and there is a grocery shop adjacent to the hotel which is open until 22:00 every day, so there is no need to shop at the airport, which is more expensive. When you travel back to the airport, the hotel reception can book a mini bus taxi for you, or two standard taxis. Enjoy your trip and post some reviews to help others.
