Detailed Reviews
The hotel is centrally located and was within walking distance from the central station. Upon arrival, although we were pretty early, thankfully a room was immediately available and that was a relief after a long flight. The reception staff was really friendly and helpful informing us on where to go with a map. When we got to the room, it appeared to have everything we wanted with a comfortable bed. The dressing table had wine and toiletries for purchase. It would have been great if they were perhaps relocated to the reception rather than packing the table with stuff that we did not require. The kettle, coffee and tea and cups were placed above a safe like piece of furniture that had no power socket. Hence, in order to boil water using the kettle, it had to be replaced on the dressing table which was already packed with the above mentioned items. We had two large suitcases and we managed to fit them along the sides of the room. Although it is winter, most of the rooms are heated which we have no control over. Hence, we were glad that we could turn the air-conditioner on and that aided in making the room more comfortable. The windows faced another building and we could not open them. The bathroom was adequately equipped with all that we required. My only complaint is that although the shower had doors, somehow they did not extend all the way down and hence water could flow out of the shower. We did realise afterwards that it appeared to be a standard design in all of the showers in the Scandinavian countries for some reason. The bed was really comfortable with sufficient pillows. I usually bring my own orthopaedic pillow but my partner found the pillows too soft and it made it hard to sleep on as they flattened right away. The breakfast had a good variety and we really enjoyed it. There was sufficient seating as well to cope with the breakfast crowd. When we had to check out, there was free luggage storage as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Dear MelE06, Thank you for taking the time to write such valuable and thorough feedback regarding your stay at Aleksanteri. You are indeed right, due to he builduing having a history that states back all the way to the 1800's, the rooms are different in size and style. Some of our rooms are a bit smaller than others. Next time you stay with us, ask for a room located on the new reneissance side of the builduing. I am happy that you were able to check-in early. Upon availability we are always happy to offer rooms earlier than 3pm. All in all, our team is more than happy that you enjoyed your stay overall. Hopefully we will see you very soon next time your travels bring you back to Helsinki! Warm regards, Johanna

We stayed here for two nights and upgraded to the business suite. Bonus of this was we had 24/7 access to the wish fridge which was full of cakes, sandwiches and ice cream. During breakfast the chef made fresh omelette for you and at weekends they make fresh waffles(although we only found out it was weekend only when we ordered on Monday morning which was a shame). The breakfast was fresh and lots to choose from. On Sunday it is available till midday!!! The staff are very friendly and were helpful. The gym is small and there is a gym across the road but not staffed 24/7 and expensive. I advise for you to go the the Radisson which is 8min walk away and the charge is €5 to use. You get the key to swipe in from the reception of this hotel. More machines and much bigger. Supermarket across the road which is reasonable priced. Also lots of place to eat nearby.

Location: Good
I initially booked the hotel through booking.com but the order didn't go through, so booked this directly through the website and the price was about the same.
The hotel staff was really friendly and let me put my bags in their storage as I came too early for check in. Hotel main hall looks great very new.
The reason for the title and lower rating is due to being felt like i have been mislead. I booked a single room and at reception, they asked me whether I wanted a room on the first floor which is slightly bigger than a single room, or a smaller room on the 6th floor (no extra charges), upon hearing this I understandably choose the larger of the two, however upon the journey of going to the room, i understood why this room was offered to me.
The room was situated right in the corner of the hotel (so had somewhat poor wifi reception at times). Its also a room by itself, so no other rooms were next to mine, instead, the door to enter other rooms on the floor was right next to my room, so i could hear people coming in and out throughout the day which is the main reason why I had a negative experience.
I believe had I chosen the room on 6th floor, I would've enjoyed my stay alot more.. The room itself was absolutely fine, it was the location of the room that hindered my experience.

Hi Cat4smoon, Thank you for your thorough feedback. We can understand how a seemingly not so important decision has significantly affected your stay. Please be assured that there was no intention from our part to mislead you in any way. We'll need to be more thorough in our communication with our guests when it comes to options provided. That became quite clear from your feedback. Thanks for giving us the chance to improve our operations and hope to see you again in the future.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. I'm happy that you enjoyed the most of your stay, and sorry that you found the room to be small. There is not much space for the hotel to have its own parking, and we are lucky that a public lot is right next to us. Good to hear you enjoyed the breakfast, and we hope to see you again someday! Best regards, Ida, reception

Decent hotel and conveniently located 10' walk from the train station (it is my second time in Helsinki and I have to say I prefer Kluuvi as it is a bit nicer and more commercial than Kamppi) . Probably rooms could do with an upgraded. Breakfast was very good with loads of options including smoothies, smoked salmon, many types of breads and pastries. Orange juice is not fresh (comes from a tap). You have to ask at the time of the check in if you want your room to be cleaned everyday, otherwise they won't do it. I guess this is the new normal in Europe where there is a shortage of cleaners. Staff was very friendly.

If you expect a 4* hotel, you will not find one. Or maybe it is for Scandinavian standards? You do not get the bathrobe or the slippers, welcom bottle of water. The furniture is a bit old and worn out, but the bed is nice, comfortable, new mattress. Windows could be cleaner, and if you don't move the nightstands, you don t see the dust in corners. Bathroom is good size, clean, but lacks a fan, or ventilation so gets steamy
Breakfast is nice, with a lot of options even for veg. Buuut, the issue i saw... You pay for bf, but nobody checks on you. So even if you did not pay, you can come in the morning to breakfast room and act like you belong there. I felt a bit cheated as bf is not so cheap.

This good hotel is nicely hidden from the busy centre of Helsinki yet very central and easily reached. One tram, number 6, can take you to the heart of Helsinki and all the way to University of Art and Design at Arabian Ranta. Aleksanteri Hotel has intimacy that many bigger hotels lack. The value of this hotel is further enhanced by its proximity to the historic Alexander Theatre.

Dear jtahokas, Thank you so much for your review. Indeed, the Radisson Blu Aleksanteri is definitely not the typical large business hotel you´d might expect. When you look for an authentic Helsinki experience, then our Aleksanteri is the place to be. See you hopefully soon again. Best regards Esko

Fabulous hotel 10 minute walk from city centre. Lovely big comfortable and cosy room. Smart tv in room so we could download English speaking tv from iPad via chrome cast. The breakfast was a varied and plentiful buffet selection. You can also order fresh omelettes from the chef. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was lovely. There’s a shop across the road selling most essentials. We used taxis from the railway station to hotel as it was snowing but you could easily walk in dry weather. We would stay here again if we return to Helsinki.

Location:
The hotel is relatively central, so the city center and the train station are within walking distance. There is a supermarket right in front of the hotel that also offers baguettes, salads and wraps. There is also a bus stop nearby.
Hotel room:
The hotel room is too old-fashioned for our taste and is more reminiscent of a 70s-80s interior. The furniture in our room was a bit worn, but the mattress was perfectly fine. There was a fridge and a kettle in the room. Unfortunately, the heating did not have enough heat to warm the room in the cold outside temperatures, so we had to have an additional heater (with a power plug) brought to our room, which according to an employee is typical for Finland. This naturally got very hot, so we always had to be careful that no child touched the heater. Not the ideal solution for a family room. The cleanliness was good, but the curtains could do with a wash.
Bathroom:
This was functional and did its job. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom and various toiletries. Unfortunately, the shower was leaking, so half the bathroom was always under water when someone used it. Here, too, we would have liked a step for our children to reach the sink, as it is offered as a family room.
Service:
We were very satisfied with the staff. Everyone was always friendly and accommodating to guests. One member of staff, who was apparently only working there as a temporary employee from another hotel, was really very friendly. As there was a strike during our trip (bus and train), she offered to find a solution for the airport transfer so that we didn't have to book an expensive taxi. She also advised us on our sightseeing plans and always took time for us. As a guest, you want to have a hotel employee like that and we can only thank her for that!
Breakfast:
The breakfast was the best we have ever had in a hotel. The hotel was completely convincing in terms of both selection and quality.

My hotel room was pretty dusty. I hated that there was a picture of toes hanging on the wall. The breakfast was pretty good and the location of the hotel is also pretty good maybe a tiny bit far from the city centre but close enough so you can still walk there.

HI- our standard room had a large walk in shower which was great. I did not see any other rooms, but the staff was great and I am sure if you emailed your question to them they would get right back with you. This was in all ways an excellent house.
Back again: ( chopped off the rest off the sentence) : as well as a variety of nordic and continental channels.
Yes, when staying in one of our Business Class Rooms you are entitled to full access of our Wish Fridge.
Best Regards,
