Ruka Suites ticked all the boxes for providing good clean self catering accommodation for our weeks trip combining skiing with other winter sport activities and excursions available around Ruka itself. Their location is very convenient for the ski lift and all the local facilities we used and ate at were excellent. Would happily return.

Great location I didn't find it dated like other reviews but then I have been to finland(lapland) before and the general decor for hotels/apartments seems to be the same anywhere you stay. The apartment was big and quiet we had a good view I like the addition of the sauna and the drying cupboard , I don't understand however that only 3 bed apartments get a cooker . Also I spent all week petrified my fire alarms would go off hence why it lost a star I was worried that everytime we opened the bathroom door after using the shower it would set it off as its right outside the door , the same when we cooked there is an alarm right above the hob and the the vent didn't seem to be very strong and I did not appreciate the constant fear as its a €800 fine if it goes off. There is a subway in the building along with a gym , bowling alley and a couple of shops a k-market , a souvenir shop and some clothes shops with plenty of restaurants and shops close by . Please note 5 mins away there is a petrol station which has a sale supermarket much bigger , more variety and works out cheaper to shop there than at the k market in the suites we wish we had of known this earlier on in our stay. Ther eis also an alcohol shop at the garage so you can get wine, spirits etc as there is very little choice in the k market but this is standard for Finalnd as the alcohol is only sold in specialist shops not in your supermarket like in the UK. All in all it was a pleasant stay I would recommend it and would stay again .

My husband and I stayed at Ruka suites and we couldn’t fault it. Plenty to do in Ruka village and easy accessibility to Ruka valley for the ski school. The ski school was incredible. We are both absolute beginners and Matthew was so patient with us and had us confidently skiing by the end of the week. Would recommend to absolutely anyone. The only slight downside was how much things cost when you’re there. But we expected that, so wasn’t overly bothered by it. And with the kitchen in the apartment, we could have a cheaper meal by going to the supermarket and cooking ourselves.

We stayed at the Ruka suites overf Christmas and had a geat time! Everything you could want from an apartment and the added Sauna is fab after a day in the cold skiing. The apartment is really quiet, cosy and warm. We stayed in a 3 bed apartment(2 adults, 2 kids) which had loads of room. I don't think the photos on any of the web sites do it justice because it looks quite stark and cold but actually its not at all like that and really quite cosy. The ski locker room entry code is the same as your apartment access code so no need for keys to worry about. Easy access to the slopes and the super market being in the same block is quite a bonus. There is also a gym, clothes shops, kids soft play, pizza place, sandwich bar and bowling alley in the same block. Yes Ruka is very expensive for food and alcohol so bring as much with you as possible and stock up in the duty free on the way out. The skiing isnt the hardest but you get loads of ski time because the lifts are so quiet. There are huts with fires down alot of the mountains so you can sit and warm your hands or toast matshmallows. Such a beautiful, chilled and family friendly little place.

The apartment was pleasant but definitely in need of refurbishment.
When we arrived our lock was broken and we were unable to lock the room. We didnt find this out until we had fully unpacked and went to leave for groceries. The reception couldn't get in touch with maintenance and asked us to move which we declined as we had a baby and it had taken us hours to unpack. Someone did turn up later and fix the lock thankfully.
The apartment was very small even though it had 3 bedrooms it was actually smaller than our 2 bed apartment in the ruka ski chalet the year before. The rooms were very small, the living/kitchen area was clean but very worn. The tables were worn & chipped.
There was only one english speaking channels which was CNN american news. In other places in Ruka we had BBC etc.
We heard lots of noise from other guests including loud music in the evenings.
The mattress on the upper bunk beds was not sprung and was more like a padded cushion it was very uncomfortable.
The view was beautiful down the bottom of the valley though.
There was times there was rubbish left in the lifts and hallways.
I think a refurbishment is in desperate need for the apartments especially for the price we paid.

We booked with Crystal Ski,can't fault the whole experience, everything was very well organised. When we arrived in Ruka the Crystal Team were on hand to make your holiday perfect. Special thanks to Mark, Yasmin and Dave from the team, very high standard of customer service. Perfect location near to shops, restaurants and gondola. The apartments were well stocked with all your cleaning products which helps when you are self catering. Perfect place to learn to ski.

Ruka suites are well situated in the village. Same building as supermarket and some shops.great location. There is a lift at one end. Rooms spacious if two of you but it slept 4-5 and that would have been quite a squeeze I think. I’d go for the bigger rooms in Ruka village with is their sister hotel. The ski lockers are tiny. Would only fit ski gear in for 2 people. Lovely sauna and shower room. Lovely view from balcony if on back of the building. Problems soon sorted but gave to go to reception in other building.

Visited this accommodation as part of a ski holiday, would have scored it excellent but the bedroom was a little cold and the heating is centrally controlled so you can't turn it up or down yourself. We had a two bedroom apartment which came with ski locker storage which was great, the keypad number to get into your apartment opens all the doors to the property ie external doors so no keys or keycard to carry! Within the building there's a convenience store which considering its location is reasonably priced if you're in the UK reading this it's like a Spar/Londis or supermarket local store not somewhere you'd chose to do a weekly shop but it's the only one and has a good selection, I carried in my hold luggage teabags (good ole Brit!) porridge biscuits and a few other things, I'd take a first aid kit with you savlon, plasters, deep heat, pain killers to name a few, as I was ill whilst there and my 19p paracetamol ran out and I was forced to buy some from the small chemist in the building which has a limited selection of over the counter medicine they cost me €7.50! So take a few packets just to be on the safe side! Speaking of shopping there's a recycling machine which you place your glass or plastic bottles purchased from the supermarket from into and it gives you money back in the form of a ticket which you can use against any purchase in the shop. Back to the apartments it was comfortable, equipped with everything you need to cook meals and open cans and bottles with! Plenty of cutlery, crockery and glasses and for the skiers or for those of you that need warming up after being in the cold Finnish weather your very own sauna which reached a rather toastie 140 degrees rather nice after skiing at minus 35! It's not luxury but if you like to do your own thing it's ideal, I'd recommend it to my own friends and family and already have!

Ruka Suites are fabulous, great location, exceptionally clean, much more than I had expected, toilet rolls, cleaning / dish washing materials, shampoo, hairdryer all provided. No oven in our apartment, just hob and microwave which was fine for a weeks stay. Supermarket had good choice and not too expensive. Would also recommend ski lessons at Ruka ski school, probably best I have ever had.
