We stayed for 2 night's with our family of 4. We have a 7 and 8 year old so was perfect for a short stay. The kitchen was well equipped and beds clean and comfortable. Location very pretty and quiet. It is a small space so would only suit this size family with small children and a shorter stay so perfect for us given the location close to town ( we all could walk in) and the value. The host is gorgeous and highly recommend following her suggestions for dinner and activity suggestions! The meals we had were amazing and suprisingly great value for the quality. We also booked into the children friendly art workshop at her studio Lauri which I also recommend.

I chose it because it had many great reviews. Maybe I am the only odd ball. First, the booking engine that I used did not indicate that I had to pay for using the sauna (10 euros an hour, two hours minimum, and a few hours advance notice). I was so disappointed when I found out I had to pay for the sauna. Even though I was willing to pay, the few-hour advanced notice was just insane. Second, there is a notice inside my unit asking a guest taking the trash out and cleaning the kitchen and the table; if not, the guest would have to pay 20 euros. What kind of inn is it? If you add all things up, its nightly rate is even higher than some of the good hotels in the city center. Why would I have to choose this inn when it is located at least 10 minutes away from the city center? It's because I thought it's somewhat affordable and was in my budget. If I have known that I have to do all the house keeping services and no free sauna, I would opt for some of the hotels in the city center that are only about 20 to 30 euros more per night. Some even include breakfast. Boy..... really made a dumb decision.

Response from Lukas A, Owner at The Blueberry
Responded 4 Nov 2018
Hi Ruby, a belated response to your review: that a sauna needs an hour or two to be heated up properly is not "insane", as you put it, but simply normal. As our is not a big hotel but simply a private home where we rent some units to our guests, we cannot afford running the sauna hot for 24 hours a day. That would be ecologically and economically indeed insane. We design our prices so that the place is affordable also for travelers who prefer to spend little money and don't need plenty of included services. To rent a sauna for private use for 10 EUR per hour is a fair price though, if you make a comparison. About keeping the place clean: we never asked any of our guests "to do all the house keeping". We kindly ask, however, our guests to wash their own dishes after themselves and to take out the trash. Again, we think that this is full accordance with what we strive to offer: a cosy and affordable homestay in a quiet and green residential area.

It is cosy, cute and very comfortable little gem in the Artic. Julia is a top host plus! We had a perfect time at The Blueberry with all the amenities that we like. Our host, Julia, is a beautiful person with a golden heart. Extremely helpful and kind, she keeps the place spotless clean and very pleasant. We would return a thousand times!
